OK ASIA
Hello, this is Sarah. If you would like to sponsor Music Elixir, you can email us at music. elixir. pod@ gmail. com or you can send us a DM on Twitter at musicelixir underscore. Ms Sarah, yes, disclaimer, please. Okay, so we are not professional critics or reviewers. Nope, we are not paid or sponsored to talk about the artists or content that we discuss. This is just a couple of friends, fangirl comedians, talking about our favorite music and artists, and we hope you join along.
DJ Panic:Yes, passionate about music and passionate about these artists. Enjoy the episode.
Both:Hello, this is Panic and this is Sarah. And you are listening to Music Elixir a podcast between two friends discussing their favorite Asian artists and music.
Sarah:So hello there, long time no see, no talk, no anything.
DJ Panic:Hello girlfriend, It's been a while.
Sarah:Oh, boy did it happen.
DJ Panic:Okay life happened.
Both:Yes.
Sarah:Life happened, but it also happened to coincide with. .. I was reading something that, like podcasts listening and production, slows down from the middle of May to the beginning of June. So we sort of we managed to make life happen and coincide with an already sort of downtime for podcasts
DJ Panic:maybe this is. Yeah, i think this is around the time a lot of people start taking vacations and they're like, well, you know, let's just, you know, take a break, you know, and not have that many episodes. Oh, that's interesting.
Sarah:Yeah, isn't it? That's interesting. I thought it was. (Is that an article that you found?) I believe it was part of an article I can't remember. It was just recent too that I saw it, so I don't know. I thought it was funny. I was like, wow, well, i guess we lucked out.
DJ Panic:That's what we're doing right now. So we, I took a break from OK Asia. (Yeah) I took the long weekend, the Memorial weekend, to just chill out, you know, and think about more of the program. Of course, And usually around that time I like to make a change, you know, of what I'm going to be do and what's going forward on the program. Especially during the summer It's different listeners, you know, because everybody's just like vacation or they're doing something. So not a lot of people are actually listening to the program because they're doing other stuff.
Sarah:Yeah, Well cause. So I know that once schools out families start doing stuff Yeah Yeah, it's life gets a little different. Days are longer, you can spend more time outdoors enjoying things. So yeah, mm, hmm, makes sense.
DJ Panic:More traveling. Yep, i don't know much of the things going on. (Yep) yeah, yeah. So one thing that we missed we were going to go to it was the SUGA tour thingy.
Sarah:Oh yeah, the movie, the Japan live stream. So yeah. Yeah, unfortunately, again life happens and I was not able to go out.
DJ Panic:No, So I wasn't able either for a while too, yeah, but you know, but we need that stuff. We need time to like, recuperate. (Yes) you know, take some time for yourselves and you know, chill out, you know whatever, but let's see. Oh, so, on the last show of, OK Asia, this is going to be a free for all everybody. So I found out also, you found out the podcast thing, that article. (Yeah) i found out that there's an article out there that Taylor Swift fans were complaining or thinking that they were forgetting parts of the, were forgetting sections of the concert. (The fans are?) And, yeah, and apparently it's a thing that is called Post-concert amnesia Post-concert.
Sarah:OH intersesting well, you know, we sort of had that after SUGA. We were both like wait, what was he? What was that part? He was singing. It's because you're seeing, yeah, well, it's cuz you've taken so much information and there's so much like data running around your brain and you're bound to sort of block some of it out cuz it's, it's an overload You know it's sort of like, like when we went to see The Arashi show, you know, we went back to back and then I was like what did I?
Sarah:I don't even remember Seeing anything, cuz it was so intense, it was so much information.
DJ Panic:Right. So I put out a poll on, OK Asia that night, because when I saw the article, i'm like you to, i need, i need to share this with everybody. I wanted to see if anybody else feels the same way, because I mean, i know Sarah feels the same way too and and that has happened a lot to me where I say, oh, my god, the so-and-so sing this song, and then you'll go yes, they did. And then you will say the same thing. I'm like, yes, that part when this thing happened, and we're like, so it is a thing. There's a psychiatrist that put out an article out there where you know the adrenaline, the, the excitement And, of course, like you were saying, so much just thrown out, you and you, you brain, just process certain amount of information And then, when everything is done, i mean you and I, you know that we're like man, we're so exhausted after the concert and you know, yeah, yeah, it's just because of that rush of adrenaline and all the information and, just like, your body is like in shocks.
Sarah:Yeah, exactly Well, and it's like you know, if you think about it, when you go to the gym, you're usually at the gym for like an hour, you know doing your thing or whatever like with a concert, that's two and a half, three hours of Just being up and moving and and intense mood. You know, dancing around to your favorite artist for two and a half hours Is an intense amount of work out And right, considering you don't do that much usually. You know what I mean. So yeah, there's a lot of a lot of factors in in what's going on, plus sort of like just the, the reality of realizing that you know you're seeing your idol or you know whatever right in front of you For that amount of time as well.
Sarah:So yeah, it's so it's a lot.
DJ Panic:So now I was thinking I know that we have, you know, talked about, oh no, people always putting out their cell phone and recording everything. Yeah, and I'm thinking maybe I'm just, i mean it shouldn't be justifiable, but I mean this is what happens. People will go in there and forget. So they're like I don't want to forget this concert, i'm gonna record everything. I mean, some people might be doing it because of that post Post concert amnesia, but of course we know the majority will do it just to upload on YouTube and then get some revenue.
Sarah:Right, exactly to get the likes and the followers.
DJ Panic:Right. So I know I have taken I mean, i'm gonna be guilty about it, i have taken my phone out, of course some songs that I really love because I don't want to miss, like that, that time, like of like you know, i heard my favorite song from so-and-so, you know, and so I can be like, oh my god, yes, they sing this, you know, they just sing it, they did perform it, you know.
Sarah:Well, i mean, oh, Yeah, it's not that I haven't done it, it's that I think it's a little different to do you know a song here or there to be like, oh my god, i love this costume and the way you know they look right now. So you take a picture or whatever. It's just the people that it's like up in the, because I've spent entire concerts Like watching it on someone's phone because their arms and everything are in my way and I can't. I can't see the show. So you know there's a. There's a difference between you know, capturing a moment and like just Creating your own documentary. Basically, i guess, because I'm guilty of it too.
Sarah:I have. I have definitely Taken out my, my phone and shot, you know, a couple pictures or whatever. But again, there's, it's a moment and it's and it's done. I'd really rather try and remember it all. It's. It's tough, it's tough, it's usually easier. I'm remembering Better now than I did in the few days after the show that we saw, like SUGA, and even yeah, even you know Pet Shop Boys that we went and saw last year I'm remembering more of it now than I did, even, you know, two weeks after we saw the show. So right, it gets, it gets stored. It just needs time to process, and you know.
DJ Panic:Right. Yeah yeah, yeah, but yeah, so it's a thing, girl, it's a thing. Post-concert amnesia is a thing, wow. so now I'm like okay, i'm, you know. I'm like I'm not drunk, i'm not high, i'm not, you know, i'm not on anything. Why am I forgetting? Yeah, it's just a thing, it's just really happens.
Sarah:, it's also not cuz we're old or anything.
DJ Panic:No, this happens to anybody, yeah, anybody. Anybody who gets all high talking me like well, you know, we have seen fans like faint Oh.
Sarah:Yeah.
DJ Panic:Their emotions are in like ultimate high and it's just faint. Oh my god, i remember like for the first BTS concert. Actually, let me think I'm gonna go back in Menudo back in Menudo always you can it.
DJ Panic:It's just like always ambulances out in the venue because girls will just think you know, there was one BTS, BTS one concert where we're just waiting. The Show hasn't even started in. A girl just faint because she was just was able just to get into the venue. Wow, i'm like wow (H yperventilate a little) That is crazy, crazy, crazy crazy.
Sarah:Well, I mean, you know, I felt like I was gonna faint, but that was because I'm like there's too many people around me. There's too many. What am I gonna do you know, but once the show starts, i'm okay, i can ignore everybody else cuz I'm focused on the stage. But yeah, you know, i mean I'm always excited to see my artists. But yeah, you know what I mean, like, because I'm like, well, if I pass out, then I'm gonna miss everything.
DJ Panic:Exactly.
Both:Exactly, Definitely I haven't gone to.
DJ Panic:I Haven't gotten either my level of and I guess anxiety hasn't gotten to that level that I will just, you know, faint, yeah, i see my favorite, because we have seen our favorite, i'll cry. Oh, yeah, yeah, like I, i will cry. I will say that I will definitely cry what I don't think.
Sarah:Usually I don't even like realize it's my favorite, until they've walked by me and I've done something stupid like go Hey, how's it going? What other big exciting new things have come about lately?
DJ Panic:Well, i just recently got information from Johnny's that Naniwa Danshi is Making a comeback in July with their second PO P Mall,(Pop, what?) POP Mall P-O-P M-A- L-L.
Sarah:Okay, i was in like shopping mall. Yes, okay,
DJ Panic:I'll be posting that article soon and it you should see that at least so cute- they are so Adorable. (They are) Naniwa are so adorable. And then they are. Their leading track is already on. Youtube is called popping, hopping, loving.
Sarah:There's a poping, hopping, loving. There's a few new things coming out, so we'll have to check on them. See what's up, mm-hmm.
DJ Panic:Oh, yeah, like the new king and prince. Yeah, definitely now with Ren and Kaito. Yeah, so that's new.
Sarah:That's so weird that that's Finally happened. You know what I mean? I know, girl, it's so strange to to think of, well, sure, king and prince, but it's not king and prince.
DJ Panic:It's a different king and prince.
Sarah:Yeah.
DJ Panic:Yeah, it's a different feel. Yeah, but the guys are, you know, they're looking too theistic and they're happy to continue and and uplift tiara, you know and .
Sarah:Well, that leads me to to a question, because uh yes, like I said, i've been sort of Just so everybody knows I was. I was out in the wilds of Wyoming and I had zero Internet, zero cell service. I was not able to contact people. I Was communing with grizzly bears, but um
DJ Panic:We thought you were just having fun. Shoot, shoot to let us know what's going on.
Sarah:Well, i was having fun, but it was also I couldn't. There was absolutely no reception. There was like three minutes a day where the the satellite was like overhead and I could get a signal, and then it was gone. Yeah, i.
Sarah:Mean it was really a( as if you weren't a different country girl. Yeah, it was no. I've been to South Africa and had service. Okay, i was playing there .. there Out in Wyoming and in the middle of Yellowstone Park There is nothing, you have no access, but anyway, it's insane. So, um, i saw something really like a quick snippet about we've talked about a tacky's new Venture to be, and, yes, i saw something interesting that it's actually He did set it up to Collect all the Johnny's that have been leaving. Johnny's is that? have you seen anything about that?
Sarah:I don't know, i don't know if it was just somebody's opinion or rumor, yeah, but I was like interesting, because There was, you know. So it was making me think about King and Prince and like what are those guys that left? um Kishi, impact her and Gucci and uh I, oh, impactors left too The whole group girl. Oh wait, you know what? I think I did know. I think that happened right when I was leaving. So I think I did know that, yes, so I was just wondering if anything's happened, information wise about that, because it's very interesting to me. We speculated about that Exactly.
DJ Panic:I'm not saying anything because nothing has been said Right exactly, but I mean it just makes sense if you put the pieces together. Why a whole group which is impactors which they have performed in Takisawa, zero Yup, how is that possible that a whole group is leaving And then, of course, taki having his own thing, and of course Kishi And Jinguji and Shou And Shou are leaving, and I'm sure there were very buddy buddies with Takisawa as well.
Sarah:So it's just yeah, it's very interesting, Although I have seen Kishi hanging out with Taiichi Kokoban a lot still.
DJ Panic:Yeah, he's still within the company. Until what? The end of September.
Sarah:Oh, I thought until November. Maybe it is only September. Yeah, I can't remember.
DJ Panic:Okay, i know he's not with King and Prince, but he's still within the company doing all the projects, or whatever.
Sarah:Yeah, yeah, he has some other stuff he works on, so that's interesting, all right. Yeah, like I said, it was just a snippet thing that I saw And I was like you know how Twitter is? You go to look at something and then your feed just refreshes on you and you can't find anything anymore. Yeah, pain in the ass And like for a few days there too normally I can translate stuff I couldn't translate anything for like four days. Yeah, no, that was a Twitter thing. I was like what the hell, that was a Twitter thing.
Sarah:So it was making me crazy because I'm like I don't know what any of this is, you know?
DJ Panic:No, that was a Twitter thing. Elon was doing something I couldn't do that And there was another thing I couldn't do And I'm like, oh my God, what the hell is he doing? I'm like, why can't I translate? anymore, And then all this. I don't know if you noticed. No, you didn't notice because you were out in the booms. Literally, you were out in the booms, girl. Yes, i was. There was a point where you go to your actual feed and it said, oh, this account hasn't tweeted yet. And I'm like what? Where are?
Sarah:my tweets.
DJ Panic:Oh man, and then I'm looking. So then I went back and looked at other accounts And like who was it? Oh my God, there was another one who was been there for ages And it said this account hasn't tweet. And I'm like what? I'm like, okay, so it's not me Freaking Twitter, elon. Like what the hell are you doing? So then I was seeing this trendy thing, thanks, elon. I'm like, okay, so he's messing with something because you cannot translate and people's accounts tweets are gone. I'm like, oh my God.
Sarah:That's insane.
DJ Panic:That's why we need to. that's why we're moving things away from Twitter a lot, because he's just changing so much in there. Yeah, it's not user friendly anymore. It's not fun anymore to be on Twitter.
Sarah:Yeah, well, i just feel like I can never find anything I'm looking for. Yeah, it's just ridiculous And you know they shut down. No, yeah, no, it's pain in the butt And yeah, well, you know my sister had an account and, you know, got shut down for breaking rules. I'm like, what rules? like she retweets and likes stuff She doesn't really post.
Sarah:So, she never was able to get it back, no, and they wouldn't give an explanation. They just said you broke Twitter rules. I'm like what, how With what? So I think that they were like you know again, cause she didn't use it to post things, cause she's not a poster And uh anyway. So such is life. But I was like reading through their rules and guidelines, i'm like I don't know what exactly supposedly was done wrong, but there you go.
DJ Panic:Right, that's just so. Bs Yeah, Oh my God.
Sarah:Thanks, elon. Yeah, so they're. You know they're shutting down accounts for just arbitrary reasons. Apparently. You know whatever they feel is like, if they think people are a bot or whatever, which I mean you know, i understand, but like the whole appeal process is ridiculous, you know.
Sarah:Tell us why you don't think you should have been shot down, and then just this generic response we've determined that your account will not be reactivated. No explanation, wow, yeah, well, that sucks. So That just sucks. Yeah, so the only way you know, i think, to get it back would be to, like, create a new email and then create a whole new Twitter account.
DJ Panic:Wow, yeah, it's like Yeah.
Sarah:That's just BS. Yeah, no, there's, I'm not even going to get into it. It's been a pain in the butt, experience since he took over, and ah anyway.
DJ Panic:Well, that was a rant on Twitter, yep.
Sarah:Trying to think what else is. Like I said, I've sort of, you know, been trying to slowly get back into the swing of things, Right Back into life. What happened? Oh, I know I did see something weird about. I guess G-Dragon is not being resigned by YG Entertainment. Did you see that?
DJ Panic:Oh, He's not being resigned or he's just not gonna find anymore.
Sarah:Well, they said that his contract was not on the list of upcoming renewals, So I don't know if that's yeah, I don't know if that's his decision or the entertainment company's decision, but I don't know, Wow Right, isn't that crazy So.
DJ Panic:Well, do you heard about? three EXO members are not gonnago g gback back bto to tSM SM S
Sarah:Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a little weird too.
DJ Panic:I'm like whoa.
Sarah:It's like Kai goes off to the military and the rest of the band's like, well, we're done. I don't know. It's strange.
DJ Panic:It's like the generation K-poppers are like we're leaving. They're like we're done, we're so done, we'll do a military service. We come back and we're like yeah, i don't know if I want to continue doing music now.
Sarah:Well, did any of the others? Mm-hmm, i do remember one of them had done their military service, like a couple of years ago.
DJ Panic:So Well, top said no more, TOP is done. Top The rapper, he's done, he's doing his own thing. Okay, i'm surprised about GD because, wow, i think GD is bored and he's like I'm done, i'm just gonna do fashion and that's it. I think he just found a different passion for himself. Yeah, just like TOP, top also found a different passion that he wants to pursue. Even though he said I'm still doing music, he just probably not his priority, that's what it looks like. Music is not a priority right now. Yeah, so he's just venturing in other projects, which I. That's amazing, you know. I mean, it's true, sometimes, when you start doing something for so many years, you get bored of it and you're just like there's no more excitement. Yeah, so this is what I see happening with these guys. They're like we have conquered, i guess, what we wanted to conquer music-wise. So I just wanna do something else?
Sarah:Yeah, or it could be too. You know they wanna just experience life for a little while, some freedom, because you know as far as having it, you know the entertainment company is good as far as they get you the work and they get you the means to be out there. But they do they are also a controlling factor in your life. So maybe these guys are just. You know, i need a little me time Cause I have known as G-Dragon. Like he's been a little little strange. The behavior's been a little random and erratic lately. Whenever you see you know clips of G-Dragon out doing stuff, it's just sort of random, it's very strange. So I think maybe just needs a little time on his own.
DJ Panic:Yeah, yeah, he's definitely, definitely. Yeah, i mean, have you seen his fashion sense? I mean he's fashionable, you know, working for Nike.
Sarah:Yeah, yeah, you know, it's cool, though I like it, yeah, but I think that that's part of it is. That's where the focus is now to like, just express himself, be himself. Yeah, that's cool. That's cool, they're allowed. But yeah, i'm trying to. Those are the only sort of little tidbits I've caught up on, you know, and then gotta sort of work my way back into reality here.
DJ Panic:Also on our Twitter, i posted a questionnaire or a form. Oh, yeah, the Google form, yeah, so I know just, we always ask people to participate on Twitter and whatever, but I think a lot of our listeners are a bit shy about it and no one I post out Yeah, they're thought and opinions, so I make that form. So people, can you know if they have any requests, which we have a couple of requests, okay, cool, and also, you know any? because I know what I have noticed is like, oh, they want to make a comment, but then they'll say, please don't say my name, and I'm like okay, so we have a few comments and whatever. Okay, anonymously, of course. So, but so, yeah, i'm thinking, i mean, i'm sure people do want to participate, but they feel a little bit shy about it. Yeah, the one you know, although I don't know. They just feel shy about it. So I made that form to make it more private.
Sarah:Well, that's, you know, that's understandable. Prior to doing this, i was like I don't know, i don't like participating, so it's it's funny that you, you got me to do this podcast, because I'm I'm one of those people who I don't like to speak up in group settings and you know, meetings and stuff. I'm always like, nope, i'll just sit back and listen, don't worry about me, you know right.
DJ Panic:But then I get you on a topic and you're like, well, this is happening. I'm like, okay, say much girl. You get very passionate about it And I'm like that's fine, oh, yeah, well you know we've.
Sarah:Yeah, this is a little different because you know we can. Nobody's seeing me talk about it. Nobody knows how crazy I am, how crazy I can get, how crazy we can get. They can hear it, they don't. They don't see it. Yes, the insanity can be a little overwhelming sometimes. If we, if we do ever video ourselves, put something on YouTube, people are going to be like they're insane.
DJ Panic:It's worse than we thought But yeah, so, um, oh, i just found something. Oh, my God, what I sometimes I don't know. I'll. I'll DM it to you. But um, happy, happy, joy, joy. But that's all right, look at me. No, i'm salty. This is DS. Uh-oh, yeah, it's you know, and I have asked for this interview and, um, it was said that, uh, you know it was complicated, yep And yeah, and I see somebody who's been um you will see Yeah, no, i do see.
Sarah:Yeah, definitely salty, all right, yeah.
DJ Panic:It's you know. Congratulations.
Sarah:With the, uh, the plastered on smile, fake smile. Oh yeah, You can you can hurt, it right?
DJ Panic:Oh yeah, you know, it's not like I didn't ask for this interview, you know? No, i know. I asked last year, you know, like I asked. No, i know, and it's like oh, i'm like, oh, great, fine, be that way. Uh, well, you know, that's all right. Boo, i got to see your face plastered in the internet.
Sarah:You don't know how I look like I can taste the salt in the air. Wow, oh my.
DJ Panic:God, you're thinking over there. A lot of people are trying to get a hold of you.
Sarah:Yeah Well, one of them was actually you.
DJ Panic:Oh, let me tell you, my phone is being, it's being wacky because I think sending text and then everybody's been getting it later.
Sarah:Yeah No, I got a random thanks from you. I was like what, Where did that come from? What was that all about? It's my phone. So yeah my phone.
DJ Panic:It's old, you know. It's already like six years old. So it's a 4G, not a 5G. So everything is like you know. Verizon is going to the name. Verizon is trying to get me on a new freaking phone. I can't afford it. I ain't got the money to get a new phone.
Sarah:Oh, for one of those Verizon, new galaxy, whatever, Yeah.
DJ Panic:Exactly. I'm going to talk on this phone and see Hey, Verizon, I ain't got money for that. Do you remember when you did that on your phone? Do some sort of promo?
Sarah:deal.
DJ Panic:Exactly, i don't have money for that. Verizon, if you really want me to get a new phone and a new plan, why don't you get a hold of me and sponsor me? Okay, yeah, you know like we can do that and get me a new phone. Get me a new phone that you have that galaxy folding thingy you know, and get me on a family plan or something you know, because I cannot afford you. I'm unemployed, help me out here. So yeah, verizon, i'm talking to you, i'm talking to you, so let's see what happens. Ah, geez, sometimes, when I'm like on a high, you know something's going to happen and it just like oh, you know what?
Sarah:Oh my God, you just got to let it, go, let it go Move on, you know Yeah. No, I do know.
DJ Panic:I'm just looking around for news and then that happened. I don't want to talk about that. Nope, no need to. Okay.
Sarah:But yeah, so I don't know. I guess well, we can. You know, we can sort of keep track of the news in the upcoming few days and you said we've got some comments and requests of stuff, so maybe we can do some, get ourselves a music episode going. Yes, talk about some new music and all that. Yes, And we'll do that Because I, unfortunately, I'm all out. of you know, news, all out of news, all out of speculations. I have nothing.
DJ Panic:Well, you were MIA for like a week, and then you go back and things happen. Yep, things happen to me too.
Sarah:So you know, life happens. Yes, it does.
DJ Panic:All right, well, oh, i found it What I found an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment has officially expired.
Sarah:So and they said, you know so, when they expire they're up for renewal usually. Only he was not on, he was, he wasn't even on the roster of like do we want to renew this? It's just done. Wow, yeah, i was like really. But then I, you know, again he's got his own thing going on. So, yeah, you see what?
DJ Panic:The two will still continue to work together in the future. Okay, but he's not going to be in. According to unofficial statements sent by YG Entertainment to the Herald Park, yg Entertainment sure that GD contract with their company has expired, but the two sides are currently in discussion for possible collaborations with each other. Okay, maybe, gd he's going to be his own company, which you know why he should. Yeah, that's true, you know he should be his own LLC.
Sarah:Yeah, he's got his own way of doing everything. Yeah, so he's learned enough.
DJ Panic:Exactly He could pull it off, yeah, he's yeah, more like 12, maybe 13 years in the industry, maybe more. Yeah, i want to say 10 plus years. Yeah, i was going to say at least. So, oh, yeah, now you know. Congratulations to him and thank you for the time You know. Yep, yes, it is.
Sarah:He's evolving.
DJ Panic:He's evolving. Congratulations, GD. All right, girl. Well, I think that's enough of blabblers.
Sarah:Yeah, we blod and blod enough.
Both:Yes.
DJ Panic:Well, apparently somebody said that I missed it too. Kenti had an IG live.
Sarah:Oh, really When.
DJ Panic:Oh no, Apparently three hours ago. What I missed? the Kenti.
Sarah:Well, i knew, yeah, i saw Travis, japan had one, but their comments were off, so you couldn't say anything. I was like, wow, all right, the internet.
DJ Panic:You were coming in and out. Maybe, yeah, it might be.
Sarah:I'm losing you, oh, all right, we better call it quits now then. I'm losing you, all right. Well, we should then say our usual farewell to everybody. Yes, thank you for listening Till next time, ok until next time.
DJ Panic:Yes, bye.
Sarah:Bye-bye, jya ne.
