DJ Panic Blog:
OK ASIA

Speaker 1:

Hello, this is Panic.

Speaker 2:

And this is Sarah, and you are listening to Music, alixir a podcast between two friends discussing their favorite Asian artists in music. Hello everybody, welcome to another episode of Music Alixir. This is Sarah.

Speaker 1:

Hello, and this is Panic. Welcome, welcome, yeah, so how have you been? It's been crazy.

Speaker 2:

Well, actually I was gonna say you know how? You had a story, a couple episodes.

Speaker 1:

Yes, because I was like me and you're like how about me? And I'm like you, share your story go ahead All right.

Speaker 2:

So this has nothing to do with music, just sort of like yours, of course, make it personal, but you know, you know, I've been playing fantasy football for like 12 years, oh yes, or more 13 years. So, anyways, it is football season, oh and you're going to love their football. I know that Go for it. I'm not really a football fan, but I got she's there for the money, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well, what happened was years ago, when I first started. I was dating someone. He was on a league with his brother in law and some friends. One of their buddies dropped out so they needed another player. So I just was like, well, ok, I'll create a team, that's all good, whatever. And I again, I don't really know anything about football. So I was picking people based on, like, their name or the team colors.

Speaker 1:

So that is such a I don't want to sound sexist, but female move that you don't know. Oh, the colors are pretty. I like this guy's name.

Speaker 2:

So right. So that's that's what I did. Yeah, and actually my very first year I won the league.

Speaker 1:

I remember that, I remember that everybody.

Speaker 2:

Everybody was like really, oh my god. So anyways, I've been playing for several years. In the meantime, yes, the boyfriend that I was with at the time we are no longer together, so you know not to get too personal with it, but his brother in law is now his ex brother in law, so it's sort of a weird dynamic with our team Weird because a bunch of exes who are all connected are in this league, but anyway, so it's kind of funny, it's.

Speaker 2:

It's like a grudge match, you know, for me and him. Oh my god. Anyways, we, we just recently drafted and got my team all set, but what's interesting we did that, I think, on a Tuesday is. I woke up this morning and I'm looking at my social media you know Instagram and stuff and I'm like, oh, I got a little, you know the heart where someone liked something or someone started following your stuff. Guess who liked one of my posts? Just a random one out of nowhere? My ex, and I don't. I think maybe he listens to our podcast because I've posted enough stuff about it on Twitter.

Speaker 1:

And so now you're saying this because you have a feeling that he's listening to the podcast.

Speaker 2:

And think about how many times I've said stuff like Well, my ex. This brings up memories.

Speaker 1:

Well, I think this is probably the first time you have broad ham. Yeah, you have not. Well, now said friends, right?

Speaker 2:

Well, this is yeah, the first time I've I've made a point of like if he does listen, he'll know it's him I'm talking about. Of course We'll bring his ego. But I was just like, oh, that's interesting.

Speaker 1:

Now I hope he is listening to this because some people do not like him. So if he has ideas of trying to go back to you, I don't, I don't think it's that and I know you edit this do not edit this, because there's a lot of people who are very happy that you're no longer with him.

Speaker 2:

Well, like I said, I don't know that it's about that. It's just you know how some people like to just remind you they're still out there, yeah. So I think that's what it's about. But I just thought it was funny because I'm like we just drafted and now all of a sudden there's this like and it's happened. Actually, it's happened before, Okay, after something else. I don't remember what it was, but remember one day I was like, I don't know, randomly, he just liked this post of mine and it was right after something we'd all done, and I don't even remember what it was, but I was like, how would he have known about that? Like, like it seems like it happens at times where something we're connected to right occurs and I don't think it was the last fantasy football because it was earlier than that, but anyway, so I just I was like, wow, isn't that interesting? Yes, it is.

Speaker 1:

So we'll see how the season goes.

Speaker 2:

So, okay, I did horrible last year. No, I came in dead last because what we were doing the podcast on Thursdays, yeah, which is the first game of the week, and I'd always get home too late to actually set up my team correctly. So I was always forgetting. And then I was, you know, editing on the weekend. I'd be like, oh damn, the games are today and right, I've missed my window of setting up. So I'm going to try and be a little more dedicated this season. Well, now your Thursdays are free.

Speaker 1:

Yes, so so I can start. Maybe you'll win this year.

Speaker 2:

Got team.

Speaker 1:

I'm telling you, pisces, villain, I have like no hair on my tongue. It's you know, it's. I'm done with all that. No hair in my tongue. But I'll say when it's you know, appropriate, hello. I started with that Friday with telling that lady this is not my order. Oh, my goodness.

Speaker 2:

Oh man, but that was my personal thing. I thought you'd find it interesting. Of course, panics known me and this person for several years.

Speaker 1:

Yes, we have gone on out.

Speaker 2:

We've gone to shows together. We went out when a new bar opened up in town. We all went out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, and concert, yeah, I was gonna say Morrissey and Interpol, pixies, pixies, yep, you know, yeah, wow, so yes, there's been several, yeah because you know, we have the same taste of music in school.

Speaker 1:

It just, it was just interesting interacting with him, but anyways, no, we, but not just me, but all your friends, were very happy. Oh, thank you. He put the kibosh on that, scarry. Remember he put that nail on that coffin.

Speaker 2:

Oh, no, I trust me, I know, I know what. I blame it on my love of. Oh, no good, he was jealous.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, where are you at? I know he's too busy. Oh, you know, can I?

Speaker 2:

well, I know right, mm hmm Doing his fishing. Oh, you know what else? Well, speaking of oh no, I had another really bizarre but very vivid dream, and this is the tea. This included several people, and you know, of course, dreams are you? Just, you dream about people. You, you know right, familiar with, you've seen their face, whatever. So it's not necessarily about them, but all I remember really is that I was walking along a river, mm hmm, I started out in a city and I was carrying a red purse, oh, like a handbag.

Speaker 2:

So I was holding it, okay, not slung over my shoulder, it was like a little, you know, one of those cute little purses you carry, okay, but it was red, okay, I'm gonna look this up. And I was walking along the river, yeah, yeah, yeah, in the city, and slowly I started to leave the city and I saw, oh no, and he asked to look at my purse. What exactly? I'm like, um, okay, weirdo. I didn't call him a weirdo, but I know that was sort of my, because I sort of held it closer to myself, like why do you want to see my purse? Okay, and he just took it and he opened it and put something in it and then closed it, oh, and I didn't look at what he put in it.

Speaker 2:

But so I'm walking and it's getting more rural. So now I'm sort of more in woodsy, grassy fields, but I'm still walking along this river. Okay, I see V Tei Tei. He asks me to see my purse. What? Yes, he asked me to see my purse and I did the same thing. I sort of clutched it to my chest, like you know the, the typical like no, no no, because my first love open it and put something in there.

Speaker 2:

I don't want you to see it right. So it is. I like what he does the same thing. He sort of holds it, opens it, put something in that I can't see and closes it oh my god and I just keep walking. Now, I don't know why I'm not looking at what's getting what's in there my purse. Omg. So I keep going. Yeah, I see sugar. He asked to see my purse. What now I'm in the woods, like full-on woods.

Speaker 1:

It's a forest you go from the city into the woods. The woods, oh my god. With this, red purse.

Speaker 2:

Okay, he does the same thing. And then I woke up so it was like quick succession, like I. I know I was just walking along, yeah, and I just went from the city where I'm at, ono, to the sort of fields and light woods with Tei and then sugar in the deep forest following this river, and they all put something in my red purse and I didn't look. I don't know what that's about.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so I'm looking up red purse or red handbag and I don't know why it was those three.

Speaker 2:

It was very. I seemed to dream about Tei and sugar in combination. Right, it's very odd, but it was, but the fact that it was ono. First I was like you know, oh, oh, no. And then I'm like why do you want my bag?

Speaker 1:

everybody want my red bag. Okay, this is interesting. So you just spoke about your ex, uh-huh, and when did you have this dream?

Speaker 2:

last night. That's why it's so like in my head okay, dream about.

Speaker 1:

Red handbag denotes integrity and your basic core characteristics. You need to draw wisdom from your past experience.

Speaker 2:

Oh my god oh my god, that's insane. That's insane because then I wake up to see the the ex has been creeping on my Instagram. Oh my god, wow, I wonder what the hidden objects in the purse stand for okay, so let's see, but you were following a river.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was following a river.

Speaker 2:

Let me see if I find something you know, it started out like like a sidewalk along the riverbank and then I just got into a field along the riverbank and then I was in the woods on the riverbank. I didn't go in the river, I didn't cross the river, I just followed it. Okay, did you find something?

Speaker 1:

yeah, but this is like a very deep definition, oh wow. So in our dreams, rivers are majestic symbols. That represents the ever-changing, constant flow of life, a powerful image that emerges when we transition from one face of life to another. The river tells you a story about your own inner calmness and on certain things happening in life interesting and I so I wonder if starting in the city is like the hectic, stressful stuff.

Speaker 2:

And I was slowly, I'm slowly moving towards a place that's just calm and peaceful. That makes sense, because that makes sense. That's interesting, very interesting, along with the red handbag of letting go of the past exactly so.

Speaker 1:

With that being said, but now that you said that, okay, this is my interpretation. You were in a place that it was, you know, hectic and stressful, but you moved on to a more peaceful person. You're calm, you have wisdom, you have overcome that situation. And but who do we find as a pillar of like? I have done this, I can do anything. It's sugar, sugar, I know, but ono, though.

Speaker 2:

Ono was your own older past right, but he, he was sort of the beginning of the path mm-hmm like he's the the first step towards reaching calm, right? Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah, so I don't see it. He's not part of the hectic. He's part of helping me move on to the point.

Speaker 1:

Let me see if I can find something, a meaning of, like putting something in a handbag but a hidden object, because I don't know why I wasn't looking at it.

Speaker 2:

I just let them put stuff in my bag, even though I was protective of it, right? No, don't don't touch it. Maybe it's me opening up to people knowing. You know what I mean mm. I wonder if that's a sort of a state of allowing people to look at my past and to you know well, here I am talking about my, my past, there you go, you're me, you're me time very interesting, okay.

Speaker 1:

No, this is like you putting stuff in a bag, okay, but the handbag thing was quite interesting, it was a beautiful bag too. I'll have to look for one maybe you're scrolling and something will come up you know well, you know how our phones are always, uh, listening to us.

Speaker 1:

Maybe I'll get a little alert from someplace they are listening because, okay, so we're going to harm, we're going to have that, have it. Yeah, we're going to have that this weekend. And uh, I don't know where I got a Harvard ad. Now, I only mentioned Harvard once, I didn't even search for it. I love it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, family is very happy that we're going to Harvard and you can't wait to go into the souvenir or to get her and I'm like I had two Harvard cups and I'm like, really, I'm like, yes, they're in the covers and now that's her favorite cup. And I'm like what happened to be you and in, in, in, um, but in BC they were all about Boston College and University is like well, yeah, that's still my favorite. It's just I don't know. And I'm like, why Harvard? Then I heard I will like to go to a hockey game.

Speaker 2:

I'm like ah, it's going to be a hockey player. I was going to say there's a hockey player that families interested in. Oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'm like, hmm, is there a half full in there?

Speaker 2:

So I have to look into it.

Speaker 1:

Family has not said anything, just like all of a sudden they're all about Harvard, harvard, yeah, I'm like, hmm, you know, deeming of someone putting something.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was funny. I was thinking about the like on my post the whole way over here being like, you know, like what's that all about?

Speaker 1:

What is that? What was this? Um, which another thing you can talk about me, me, me. You want to see durandurand?

Speaker 2:

Oh, yes, yes, Like I said, it's just a random post, that. But um, yes, I went to see my original five, but also the next night I went to see Sting. You went to see Sting, yeah, he was here. The MGM Fenway. What, yeah? How is that place in there? It's nice, it's a nice venue, and it's really yeah, really good, like there's no bad seats, basically Okay, but the problem is the seats are small, like we were all sitting eyes like are we in kindergarten chairs? What is this Like they were so small, everybody was literally scrunching into them.

Speaker 1:

So these chairs are not made for your average American Right. Pretty much because your average American it's close to 200 pounds.

Speaker 2:

We were with a skinny girl and while she was overpowered by the people next to her but oh no, yes, they were definitely. They're not quite big enough to be comfortable and I didn't want to stand because the people being behind me weren't standing. Oh, I think it would have been better if we'd all stood, but you know, I don't want to be that person.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

So I was like, well, I'll just sit and, you know, listen to the music. But as far as like sight lines and sound, it's really an amazing venue, right, it's a. It's pretty new, yeah. What I did notice while we were walking around it is they have these rail seats, okay. So you've got like a little bar sort of like at House of Blues. Only, where you stand there's those sections that have like the little shelf, okay, above the floor, right.

Speaker 1:

So these are like we were standing to see a one on K wrong, right?

Speaker 2:

Okay, so it's like that, only their seats and you actually can purchase the seat as your ticketed seat. Okay, they're not just open to sit in you, you buy them specifically. But that way you can have your drink and you can put it down in. The chairs are more like bar stools with a little bit of a wing back, so it looks like you have more room there. So I was thinking, oh, if we go check something out and there's only like two of you, right, that would be the better option. You know, they're definitely they're all the way up at the top in the back, but you can see perfectly fine from them.

Speaker 2:

Okay, and then that way, even if the people in the seats stand, you can still see. Okay, so it's. Yeah, I was like something to keep in mind. Okay, awesome.

Speaker 1:

I like that.

Speaker 2:

But both shows were amazing. We saw Duran Duran at the garden at the garden.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, which has? Also got good, I mean, there's not really a bad seat in that place either, because it's the pitch mode is going to be there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's, though, isn't that the night of the kinsay?

Speaker 1:

Oh is it.

Speaker 2:

What night are they playing there? I don't know. I forgot the kinsay is a 28.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay, then never mind.

Speaker 2:

But I well, we can look and see what day they're going to be there, but okay if they're not sold out already.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so okay, I couldn't find anything. That will be like somebody putting something inside your bag, but I did find another meaning of the red bag. Oh, okay, so we have, here is the red bag in the dream world carries a signal of strength, passion and love. A red bag indicates that the things you do are affected because you have the confidence to have everything you need. So it could be that maybe each member is giving you some wisdom inside that bag, something I weren't looking in there. The dream of a red bag also shows the strength you have to achieve your dreams.

Speaker 1:

Oh it is one of the best dreams about a bag, because you are on the right track to get everything you want.

Speaker 2:

Yes, so both those meanings are good though. Yeah, because the moving on from the past and having the strength and ability to attain your dreams. All right, that was a good dream then.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, awesome. It was weird that you dreamt that and then that situation happened.

Speaker 2:

See, people we've told you was like oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

I kind of had a dream today, but I don't remember it. But it was a wacky one. That's the me. That's why I don't remember, because it was all over the place. But I do have to say that I was in Japan, that's all I have to say Well, maybe you know, between our two dreams something good will happen.

Speaker 1:

I hope so, because there's there's things going on, but anyways, there was some news that I found One being wasa. Yeah, oh girl, I'm so happy for her. The anticipated comeback finally, finally, is here with her single. I love my body.

Speaker 2:

Saucy. Does it count as a comeback now that she's at a new, yes, entertainment industry? It is a company. I mean new entertainment company. She is still on the mama moon, she's still with mama moon with.

Speaker 1:

P nation. The cool thing is that she top iTunes in the album charts in Cambodia, colombia, hungary, jordan, malaysia, nigeria, the Philippines, saudi Arabia and Singapore. Wow, all on September 9. Wow, that's cool, you're not crazy. I'm like, yes, I'm sure size very happy. Of course it's like, yay, yay, I'm sure he's happy and dancing all around. So, but anyways, congratulations to wasa. Yeah, that's awesome, you know, because you know she got some shite. You know, yes, she got some salt from people and you know it was already happening. When there's like, oh my gosh, she's leaving, you know, yada, yada, for God, they know me in the company Because after that she was being treated like, you know, shite. Yep, you know the whole thing of the show that she did it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, well, we talked about that in an episode, so I'm very happy. The ridiculousness of it.

Speaker 1:

So and you know that our boy Tay Tay Mm.

Speaker 2:

Is that Leo girl? September?

Speaker 1:

8th. That came out Millions and millions of copies sold.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think. Didn't he break a record for a? Yes, he did, like first day sales of an album. Yeah, he did yes.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you go boy, exactly.

Speaker 2:

Well, I was thinking I don't know how you feel about possibly doing a deep dive on his album, but I was thinking about you know, you see all these people are out there like I just went and bought it and I'm doing my unboxing and I'm going to listen, and you know it's been out for two hours and here's my opinion. I was like I don't feel comfortable, like just by listening to it once and then spouting an opinion about it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know, I mean like I did listen to it and I I love the music, but like I don't want to talk about it until I've really soaked it in. You know what I mean?

Speaker 1:

This is my opinion, these are people who just it's his hot trending right now, right. These are people who just want to get into the content so they can be. Hey, look, this is the stuff that I do.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they just.

Speaker 1:

They want views and they want they want to be in there and with the crowd and everybody else. As you know, we ain't the cookie cutter peeps. We go to the beat of our own drum and we prefer to actually really deep dive on the music, which I know. We were supposed to be doing a deep dive on some music, but I got too busy, and then I can go on a me rant on that too with the office. But yeah, no, it's let those people do their thing, cause oh, yeah this is what you see a lot.

Speaker 1:

I mean I'll be. This is the sheeple. This is my opinion. But you know, I'm like, yeah, how many now have done a you know unboxing in the past? It's like, oh no, it was oversaturated. And it's like some people are gonna yeah, they're gonna be people who are going to be supporting you. And there's other people that are like, oh my God, no, you know, like you too. Oh my God, what? Yeah?

Speaker 2:

I mean it's okay to do like a first reaction, yeah, but don't be like like they don't have a whole lot to say about anything I've. I've just seen stuff. I watched one persons and I was like, well, okay, yeah, anybody who looked at it could tell that. So I've been ignoring everything else because I was just like yeah, no, it's exactly.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, a reaction is one thing, but people are like join me for my review of while I listen to it, so I guess it's sort of a reaction, but not. You know what I mean, right? Because I don't know. It's just weird.

Speaker 1:

Well, the term my reaction to was so oversaturated that content got so oversaturated that people like it's people don't want to listen or look at that anymore. So if you are a person who wants to be an influencer, you try to say things in a newer way, but it's still the same. So again, we are not that like that. We even take requests.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. Reminder to everybody we have our Google form that you can request an episode for us artists to cover or a topic you want us to talk about anything. Yep, we've done Q&As about ourselves before. Yes, music influence and stuff. We should do another one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we could do that. We have not done a Q&A in a while, Looking forward to some things in the podcast. I have been in the talks with another podcast.

Speaker 2:

Secret.

Speaker 1:

So, but you know, just to give you a preview, teaser. There, you go, so we'll expect guests. It's going to be a fun one. It might be our first drinking podcast.

Speaker 2:

That would be interesting. Is it going to be? I meant to ask would that be an in person or is it going to be a over the phone?

Speaker 1:

It might be over the phone because of their location they're at now. They're East Coast, but we're still kind of far apart, yeah, even though we're on the same state. I'm giving more information and I found out of another podcast. I just was in talks with this person, but they're away right now. Okay, but I need to check their podcast before we invite this person over.

Speaker 2:

Yes, definitely, because you can let me know who it is, I can check it out too. Yeah, oh, it's good to be familiar, of course.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, but anyways, that's just some hints of, you know, episodes coming into the future, things to come, oh oh, one second lady, they're doing some tours.

Speaker 2:

Yes, they're doing some dates October.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was chit chatting with Elise and you know, asking her, you know what's going on If they have anything. She took a mini vacay, you know, because we're always. You know, it's great to have a mini vacation, absolutely. And then she's going back to, of course, they're practicing with their new drummer, which we weren't able to interview.

Speaker 1:

but we'd love to interview next time, hopefully. Okay, I'm going down to the second lady's Twitter to find out, but Elise does most of the promotions and Instagram. So the check out the girls check out their Instagram. Oh, here we go. October 8th Sunday, king Cobra, that's the place that they're going. I don't see the open. I guess it's just fairly new. There's not much information of like when exactly starts and then how much it is. Please follow the ladies. If you actually go to that show, tell them that you know Sarah Panic sent you. Say hello and say hey, I'm still down. Listen to your interview. Please Check it out. Help the ladies out.

Speaker 2:

Yes, definitely. You know we'd be there if we could oh my god, oh my god, yes, if we win the lottery we'll go. Oh my goodness, yes.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my goodness, yes, and they have other groups in here Chick I, that's a group that's in there. Chick I, okay, and a DJ, and, well, some other bands. Please, please, please, follow the ladies. Support them out. Cool, all right. So that's on that. I don't know what else to talk about. Oh, so this. So this is my me moment now. Okay, I was, uh, I, slack on our assignment this week because work now has become more busy, so I'm continuing with my training. So that took some time. Then there was a situation that happened with one of our consumers, that the law was involved and I needed to be a part of that.

Speaker 2:

Just what you need your first month in the job.

Speaker 1:

I'm not really like part part, but I'm assisting on the situation. So yeah, I am part of it. I just don't need to go to court.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I don't have to do any of that. But plus the nurse, I work with nine nurses. The nurses are now very comfortable with me and this week has been also really stressful for them, so I have to be on top of that. For those of you who you know don't know, I started a new job. I was unemployed for like a year and a half and the job that I work that I have right now it involves a lot with the community, the nursing home, senior seniors, seniors and seniors and also people with disabilities. We hope the community your transition either from nursing home into back to home or from home to a nursing home if they cannot really be in the community by themselves. Even with our help, you know, if their health has declined and they need to go back to the nursing home, we'll help them then get the best nurses.

Speaker 1:

So we had a situation with a consumer who wants to leave the nursing home. Situations happen with the family, so that's just a little bit of what's going on with this person and, yeah, the law has been involved. Wow, yeah, anyways. So I'm just. I'm going after paperwork, talking to people, getting information, having files ready. Everything's electronic, but still I gotta make sure everything is correct. Secure emails, secure, they secure, oh my God. It wasn't saying plus on top of all the training, because apparently I'm really good at what I do.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's good, and now they want to give me more jobs.

Speaker 2:

I'm like wow does that come with the pay raise?

Speaker 1:

Exactly so, one of the things of being bilingual the two other bilinguals that they were that supposed to be in the office were not in the office, so I was volunteered.

Speaker 2:

You volunteered or they volunteered. I was volunteered, okay.

Speaker 1:

But you know I said, yeah, sure, no problem, it's something you know, just to just be the translator for this, for making an appointment for this person. That's it, you know. So, yeah, we had some awesome songs to discuss, but because it got so cray cray at work, you don't feel prepared.

Speaker 1:

No, I mean, I know the songs and I can do it like a really wishy-washy note, but I don't want to do wishy-washy you know, because it's not fair, because we had done other deep dives, you know on the song so, but let me tell you, there's one song that I'm like God. I love this boy, this boy's voice, I love his voice. You probably know who it is. I think I know who. Oh, my God, I love him.

Speaker 2:

Is it the third song?

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

It's so funny. We're not going to talk about who it is, but in my notes for it I wrote that I wrote so, and so I love his voice. Yes.

Speaker 1:

Have you, my sister loves his voice. Oh my God, who doesn't love?

Speaker 2:

his voice. She was like oh. She says to me oh, is this so and so from such and such? And I was like yes, it is.

Speaker 1:

You will never forget his voice.

Speaker 2:

His voice is so unique and for some reason he reminds her of Harry Styles.

Speaker 1:

I can see him. I can see Harry Styles being his big influence, definitely.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so she was like yeah, he just reminds me of Harry Styles and she loves Harry, so we love Harry. So there you go.

Speaker 1:

And also Martin from Coldplay Well at least that the vibe Chris Martin. Yeah, but have you listened to his solo album, which is? It was from years ago.

Speaker 2:

No, I haven't, oh God Girl.

Speaker 1:

Look chills, I know, because I'm like there's a song that is in my secret playlist. Nobody has found my secret playlist. You're so Spotify, how can you miss it? That is secret, but it's in there, oh my God. Anyways the video.

Speaker 2:

Well, this is definitely. He's an artist we followed. We've seen the group a couple of times, at least a few times, I think we were.

Speaker 1:

Well, I don't want to say much because there's on a past few episodes we have discussed that. We went to this yeah, and then we yeah, yes we've done an episode on them, right, did we?

Speaker 2:

Yes, we did yes. So, yes, we did. So you'll know about that next time.

Speaker 1:

You'll hear all of. But yeah, that has been my go to song, maybe because I needed it, because I had that crazy as week and that song was the one that is most of me.

Speaker 2:

It kind of like I don't know, it's just, I don't want to say too much, but it's yeah, well, I was going to say most of the stuff the group does and that he does because he's collabed with other people. Oh yeah, and this, the music he does is calming and it is definitely his voice is like a like, an embrace like a blanket Warm.

Speaker 1:

Blanket it just, it heals you, it just heals me, it calms me down and if I'm like, I'm so in love with you.

Speaker 2:

I know, right. Yeah, if you know, all you have to do is hear his voice and you'd be like I love this man. I don't know, but I love him. And there's a couple of people with voices like that. Yes, v's voice is like that. Oh my God, okay.

Speaker 1:

So you said that, oh, I keep forgetting at work, at the part, okay, a part of the our lunch area meeting. There's like a sitting sitting area with an old radio, you know the one that is like kind of looks like a gothic window. Oh yeah, yeah, you know the kind of old fashioned radio.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that thing was never. That thing was never on. I didn't even knew that was on. But one morning I went by the hallway and music from the 50s was playing. It was being Crosby, oh wow. And the funny thing, it was on a what?

Speaker 2:

was it.

Speaker 1:

It was on a day when Tay Tay dropped something. Tay Tay dropped something. No, no.

Speaker 2:

Anyways, yes, but it was on a day.

Speaker 1:

I want to say that Tay dropped something and I was in the office and that played and I'm like how interesting. Oh no, it was at the week that we were reviewing Tay Tay song. Oh okay, and that happened.

Speaker 2:

So the last, last episode, yes.

Speaker 1:

So it's been a while since I took a picture. I was going to post it in that whatever, and I completely forgot, because I took a video of the song and I'm like, wow, how interesting. Hmm, but guess what? Why I was listening to I don't know. If you say the name of the show, yeah, why not? I was listening to NPR, the radio.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, it's public radio. We can mention them.

Speaker 1:

And apparently millennials are getting very into this type of music. There is another soloist, beautiful voice. I forgot her name. I wanted to look her up. She's 25 years old and her album is all about that old-time jazz. I mean she and her album. She did some classics and some of her own with that tone. I was like, well, I gotta show this to Sarah because she beautiful. And then they were interviewing her and they were like, why doing this music?

Speaker 2:

Do you know? I think I just something popped into my head. I don't know her name, but I remember them talking to her.

Speaker 1:

Were you listening to amp-r? I wonder, if you were listening to amp-r, this thing might have been yeah. So the interviewer asked her you know, it's like why this music? You're 25 years old, you're half my age. I guess the guy's 50 years old because he said that he's like us in Steve Ioki.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, gen Xer.

Speaker 1:

So he said you know you're half my age, but you're into this music. Why this music? And then she proceeded. You know that she loves it, she likes the warmth. It was a great interview. Oh God, I gotta find that out. She gets the feels from it.

Speaker 2:

Well, the thing is because, like, if you think about what I grew up with and what you probably grew up with, we didn't have streaming services, we didn't have cable TV a lot of the time, right, so I grew up watching old movies. Yeah, you know, well, that was what was on our local public television. On the weekends they do a double feature of Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby movies.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2:

Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin, whatever Like. So we grew up seeing these older films because that's all there was, you know, yeah, and so we heard the music and maybe not everybody liked it, but enough of us heard it and were influenced by it. I was in band in school. We these are the old standbys for playing in band yeah, old music. I was in a jazz band specifically, so that broadened it even more. You know, I sang in a little choral group and we did all the you know, 50s standards and stuff. So, plus, you and I just love music, so we listen to everything anyways. So I'm okay with all of these young people deciding to do jazz and I'm very happy, you know.

Speaker 2:

I mean, look at what's her name Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett doing that whole album.

Speaker 1:

She did that. Oh my, how many years has been. This is a pre pandemic right. Yeah, because she was doing a few shows with him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they'd been working on it for a while. I mean, they'd been collaborating with stuff for a while. But John Batiste or Batiste I don't know how you pronounce his last name he does a lot of crossover stuff too. He does covers of old songs from the jazz era, from the 50s, he does modern stuff. He's got a broad spectrum of music you know. So a lot of, again, younger people. I don't know how old he is, but people are sort of picking up on that. You know everything old is new, right, right, and maybe these are all old souls, old souls finding a solace in the old tunes.

Speaker 1:

So yes, if I can find it and we'll talk about it. I don't, I can't find it, I cannot remember her name, but I wanted to look her up because it was really really cool that in her voice, oh my God, amazing, amazing voice, and I'm, like geez, not gonna forget her name now, that's not, I'm sad. Of course, when we're done with here I'll remember.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's like is this one? It's like oh geez. But, no, I think I do remember, because I was like, oh, that's interesting, because isn't she only like early 20s, right, you said 25. She's 25. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

She's, you know, like at this 25, nobody's doing that, we're hardly anybody, you know and she released an album with that, music with that, you know jazzy.

Speaker 2:

Did she do more of the like Shantuzzi stuff, or is she doing jazzy?

Speaker 1:

Well, she was talking like she took a lot of inspiration from Billie Holiday.

Speaker 2:

Being Ella Fitzgerald. Yes, okay.

Speaker 1:

You know. So it's like, yeah, okay, I see it because I hear it, you know from her tone.

Speaker 2:

So, um well, you've been in my car when I like 10 songs in the row. It was the same song, just by different artists. Yeah, because I was like I love this song and I had no idea that there were that many versions of it, starting with Ella Fitzgerald, louis Armstrong, frank Sinatra, all the way up through Michael Buble did a version of it. It's a great song too, and but everybody had their own style. Some people did it slower, some people did it jazz. You know, faster, jazzier.

Speaker 1:

So for the Blue Moon, that I found all these versions on Blue Moon when I posted on a musical, like first Twitter, so I was like, wow, look at all this. Even everybody had their own version, because Elvis Presley, geez, it was like very slow and very dreamy, very like well, it was. You know, I was there for right, so but I put like three different versions of Blue Moon, yeah, so I'm like which one was your favorite, though, because I know you're you're the king favorite. You like the king?

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, I love Elvis. I named my cat after.

Speaker 1:

Presley. But you know it's great and you know I wanted to put different versions of the Blue Moon. You know, like, bag has his own, but his own song called Blue Moon. And then they see, you had the only new. You know, yes, but the the most famous, famous at least in the US, the blue moon, the blue moon.

Speaker 2:

You know the ballad he want, like oh, they're not all necessarily the same song, but there's a yeah, they used it in Greece when all the guys dropped their pants Moon to the gym.

Speaker 1:

Also, it was used on Teen Wolf. Oh, okay, nothing Wolf. Oh, no, nothing Wolf. I'm mixing one of his movies with Teen Wolf. Oh, back to the future, back to the future. Okay yeah, the prom night, did they?

Speaker 2:

use it, there. Yes, oh, all right, oh, yes, yes, yes, okay, wow, it was a snippet, but they, they used it.

Speaker 1:

Yes, they did, but no, the Greece.

Speaker 2:

Whenever I hear that song, that's what comes to my mind, like that is like Jordan man.

Speaker 1:

When the when Blue Moon song comes up, you know what to do. He's like what? What is like? Come on, come on, it's time. I love that movie. I love that movie. You can see it on Netflix.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, it's awesome, it's there. Family will be like you watching this and I'm like, yeah, it's funny, but it's fun it's wrong, but it's funny you know, speaking of that, the other day I was crossing the street.

Speaker 2:

You know, I was walking down the street and I was at an intersection. I'm waiting for the crosswalk, okay, and this car pulls up. Now this is like what we're talking about. The younger generations are listening, older stuff yeah, this girl pulls up, music is blaring, okay, laring, but what was so funny is she's listening to hopelessly devoted to you for free. I mean, she is blaring and she was singing her heart out to it. Whoa, I could hear her singing along with Olivia Newton-John what hopelessly devote. Now, that is like the last song I would think of having blaring so this person was probably listening to her mom's or parents song.

Speaker 1:

Probably something happened. Mom got in like hopelessly, like I don't know, and probably got into her. She's like.

Speaker 2:

I really like this oh my god, it was hysterical, though, cuz she's like wow, she was feeling it. That song spoke to her she was, and she couldn't have been more than like 23-4. Wow, she had her hair up in a little ponytail. She's like wow.

Speaker 1:

Well, she could be also a musical actress and maybe she's doing grace. That could be that's another thing too, but it was awesome.

Speaker 2:

No, it is great. I was like that is so random and it was like a little sporty car too, like it's just so funny you didn't join in with her I would have joined in. I was too. I was laughing. I started laughing because I was like you could hear it. There's sort of a hill down to the intersection right. I could hear the music coming down the hill. Oh, it wasn't like a stop, you didn't stop next to her okay she did end up.

Speaker 2:

She had to stop at the light, but I could hear it coming down and I was like wow somebody's got their music up. And then, when she stopped, I was like, am I hearing Olivia Nantia? And I just started laughing because it, like I said, it's not the song you envision, people blaring right and wanting everybody in the world to hear. You know, girl okay it's you. There's no bass to this song.

Speaker 1:

There's no, no there's none of that. This is a very twinging ballad, very high-pitched ballad. You know, I think if she would have like, parked next to me and she's like I probably joined in, you know well, I would just she.

Speaker 2:

She could tell I was obviously knew the song and was from it. I was just smiling and laughing and I was like I came and she's. You know, I was like push my love aside, I was like you. Go girl, let's just laugh. It was the best thing. It made my day. It made my day, that's awesome.

Speaker 1:

But again, everything old is new exactly all these young kids, you know, listening to what their grandma and grandpa was pretty much you know. Wow, that's cool. It was awesome that is awesome.

Speaker 2:

Wow, we've been so random with this. Yeah, it's a.

Speaker 1:

It's a rambling like woo, it is a rancid rambling. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the young lady that we started talking about this. You know genre right now because she, um, yeah, it'll happen, I'll find it.

Speaker 2:

I'll find it and then I'll share it on music elixirs, ex twitter and uh, yeah, I was gonna say the only other news I know is, uh, jk's coming back to New York. He's doing the festival. I forget what it's called.

Speaker 1:

Okay, central park, a massive outdoor meaning there's gonna be people sleeping out there for a month yeah, yeah, no kidding, but he's also getting some bad press.

Speaker 2:

Oh no, he was caught smoking outside a restaurant in LA, no, and first there were people it's edited, the cigarette's not there. And then people were like this is the real photo. That was edited to take the cigarette out, because there's an actual video and you see him and I'm like that's not edited, okay newsflash army.

Speaker 1:

All BTS members do smoke well, it's you know.

Speaker 2:

It's sort of like um are she? They all smoke newsflash everybody are she do smoke? Well, just newsflash. Most of your idols probably do.

Speaker 1:

Okay, let's make that newsflash everybody people smoke, let them be exactly they're grownups, but remember the whole these are not 10 year olds with cigarettes at the grammy's, everyone they're, you know, and.

Speaker 2:

But the worst back and forth, it's edited, it's not edited, it's edited. I was like somebody just posted a video and you you can't edit the movements and actions of someone smoking it. You wouldn't. There's no way to confuse what he was doing with anything else. But he's a grown man, makes his own decisions. And again, most of your idols smoke. You just don't know it exactly. Try their hardest not to just show that. But, as we've talked about before, yep, a lot of your idols probably smoke pot, do other things, because you see them getting busted, it's.

Speaker 1:

I'm surprised they have them be like oh, he's in California. What kind of smoke he's smoking? I don't know.

Speaker 2:

It looked like uh no but this is the other question now. He was definitely it was.

Speaker 2:

It was cigarette style smoking and then somebody's gonna be like it doesn't really look like a cigarette out in front, out in front of the restaurant, but it actually it looked almost like it could have been like a cigarillo, because it wasn't, it wasn't white. A capri well, no, it wasn't. It wasn't a like white cigarette. From what I could see, it looked like a little mini cigar, or it could be, or it could be, but but the thing is you don't smoke cigar stuff the same way you smoke cigarettes, so it also could have been. There's a black and mild cocktail cigarettes that are black you're making this worse now.

Speaker 1:

You're making this worse now. The paper wasn't white, it was burnish.

Speaker 2:

No, I mean it was dark, so it's either like mini cigar, yeah cigarillos, because it wasn't fat cigar, it wasn't a big stogie making it worse, girl, I know you're making it worse.

Speaker 1:

No, like I said, there's California legalized marijuana. I know, but you don't smoke a cigarette?

Speaker 2:

no, no, it was, it was not a joint no.

Speaker 1:

Why is no? Was he hanging out with no thought? I hope he wasn't there, because then you worse you know?

Speaker 2:

no, I mean it, definitely it.

Speaker 1:

It, the only right style the black and, like I said, there's.

Speaker 2:

There's cocktail cigarettes that come in different colors. They're fancy, they're expensive, like pot is expensive.

Speaker 1:

I'm joking people here, not saying that he was smoking pot, but by the way you're saying he, he doesn't look like he wasn't smoking it the way you smoke pot either.

Speaker 2:

There is a certain way you started you want to choke? Oh man, we're gonna have army on our throats about that, stop. I'm simply saying I'm army and there's plenty of army like me that they're saying the same thing.

Speaker 1:

No, I know. I know you mean op-dite, army, uptight, or the haters of what.

Speaker 2:

I'm well, yes, we're both army, but what I mean is there's certain people, I mean there are people who just hate smoking and I understand, I get you, but you don't have to smoke, even you don't have to kiss him, no, after he's been smoking. No, don't worry about it. No, you're not even gonna be within 10 feet of him. Well, he's an adult.

Speaker 1:

I'm sure he knows the complications of smoking. Everybody should know what the complications of smoking. But then again, smoking as well as alcohol. You need to be at a certain age, you have to be in grown-up and you know the complications of over smoking and over drinking so he's an adult. I'm sure he just wanted to take the edge of whatever he's doing, and if couldn't get a drink, there's a smoke. What kind of smoke?

Speaker 2:

we don't know well, because he's had a vape apparently in his live. People saw it. He sort of moved it to the side. But so you already know, and actually smoking a real cigarette is probably better for you than the vaping, because those things do horrible things to you. Oh girl.

Speaker 1:

There's a big campaign in Newark Hampton at least that vaping for teenagers is vaping in general. It's really bad for your lungs. Actually they were saying that it's an equivalent to popcorn lung right you know, when people open their bag of popcorns are sniffing it. That is as bad as when you'll vape also, vapes will have some kind of chemical that is, I think, somehow found in balming fuel in it from out yeah, yeah, so which like hello or no, not from out, yeah, from aldehyde, a preserving agent, yeah, so it's like no it's

Speaker 1:

poison yeah yeah, I mean, and uh, go with the natural tabaki. You know this, don't go with the vapes. Even so, vape, it doesn't have nicotine. Yes, it does have nicotine.

Speaker 2:

Well, you can get them, supposedly, without just flavored. But I'm like at that, the what are you doing it for? Exactly? You know people who smoke it's because of the nicotine, it's. It's an addiction, exactly it is, and it's a difficult one to get over yeah, people will find the way to quit.

Speaker 1:

You know you probably not ready to quit right now, but if you have quit before, you know what to do. You know the steps you need to do, how to get there, and you know there's. If you have family members who do not smoke, you know they will help you and encourage you to keep that habit of quitting, you know, or to stop that in the industry that he is at, unfortunately, there's a lot of addictive forms and you know what, and smoking is one that's always like very welcomed right, because you know being in the industry is uber stressful, not just because of work but also fans.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know yeah and it gets to you. So so what? So he had a cigarette, I know.

Speaker 2:

I know, I'm just saying it was, it was the newest we we think it's a cigarette. Well, I was gonna say well, I think it's a cigarette. Sugas smoked in videos and everything people breaking out but the way he does it. Like you can tell people who smoke Versus people who are pretending to smoke for like a roll, like it's different. You can write, so I'm like mmm Nah, he smokes, they all do, you're right, yeah they all do very common.

Speaker 1:

Some hide it better than others. Mm-hmm, some like Tati don't care. Oh, tater's like, give me a cigarette.

Speaker 2:

Here I am.

Speaker 1:

I am, I'm sure, tater. If he sees camera and he's okay, I'll be like.

Speaker 2:

Give you the 360 here's the V.

Speaker 1:

The V is because I smoke. I Don't think you're smoking.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Never mind anyway. So poor guy people are like he's no longer a baby and well, but you know it also. So you're gonna stop liking an artist Because of their personal habits? Again the haters. Like what you obviously didn't really like the music or the artist again the haters. If you're going to drop them because of this.

Speaker 1:

It's the haters. I know, as you know, some of the heat, like I said before, when I am the situation with that song. The haters are waiting to find something that is like oh, this is so wrong, let me start blowing it up. And this group of haters, they're just you know, they're like just I don't know percolating.

Speaker 1:

Going out there. You know, all this is what's happening. Quickly, spread, spread, spread, spread the hate, spread the hate, whatever. But then we're here for his music. We're here because he's an entertainer and in that's, you know, we love him. You know, because he's a great artist. He smokes, oh well, everybody smokes, everybody smokes. I don't, sarah doesn't.

Speaker 2:

I.

Speaker 1:

Okay, no, we don't smoke. I mean, family is allergic to smoke. I mean I have a neighbor downstairs and it's like the worst. Family gets actually migraines if it's exposed too much to smoke. And yeah, it's the worst. Talk about allergies, mm-hmm, you know, that's one. Yeah, I one day I decided to, like I don't know, turn on an incense to maybe help. That made a worse. Oh yeah, family was out for like a whole almost like I'm like I'm so sorry, honey, I am. I just, you know, I'm like never again. So, any type of smoke, it really bothers family. So I'm like, okay, that's it. Yeah, hopefully we're hoping to find a place to move out, go somewhere else that we can afford. Anyways, okay, that's a ransom that. Oh yeah, are we done? Yes, we're done. Yeah, I think we're done.

Speaker 2:

We are so done. We rented, yeah, a lot we did, but so we'll. We'll work on our assignment some more, yes, and we'll be ready for the next episode. Yes.

Speaker 1:

Yes, okay, so thank you everybody for listening to this musical ixer episode. Yeah, please rate review and share, share, share.
