OK ASIA
Hello there, how's it going?
DJ Panic:Hello everybody, welcome to Music Elixir.
Sarah:Yes, another Rants and Rambling. It's gonna be just so you know warn you ahead of time, not that you couldn't read it on the episode.
DJ Panic:Yes, today's a Rants and Rambling this is a free for all.
Sarah:It's what.
DJ Panic:Some news that we have found You're not paying attention to me because she's looking up to her notes.
Sarah:No, no, I have been having trouble hearing lately.
DJ Panic:Okay, I hope it feels better soon. That sucks.
Sarah:Yeah, about oh my God, yeah, oh yeah, no, exactly, yeah, exactly two weeks.
DJ Panic:Now that you're saying that, some of you are following me on Twitter at ok Asia underscore DJ Panic. You know very well that I have been pet sitting. Sarah knows pet sitting. So there are two of them. One is a senior who unfortunately has cataracts and can't hear, and the other one who's the puppy and she is just rambunctious.
Sarah:She just leaves a wave of destruction wherever she goes?.
DJ Panic:It's just she gets too hyped up. You know anything, You know the other one, you know the senior, So you know. But for me to call her, I have to like go to her and be like biscuit.
Sarah:Now her name is biscuit.
DJ Panic:That's the senior biscuit. It's dinner time, honey. You know how to like, you know get her going by rubbing her, you know, and she's like all stretching and like oh okay. But she's a sweetheart, Of course. the Tasmanian devil. Her real name is shortbread, but I have been calling her shorty.
Sarah:Oh, okay, because to reprimand her.
DJ Panic:You have to be sharp with her, and shortbread does is not, doesn't work.
Sarah:I have to be like.
DJ Panic:I have to be like shorty shorty And then she's like, she like perks up. I have to repeat with her like these three times And on the third time when I get so frustrated that my shorty comes out like really sharp. That's when she's like okay, wait a minute.
Sarah:Well, you know what and it's funny though, because shorty and shortbread are this like same amount of syllables, but it's just so much harder to try and yell shortbread, yeah, as opposed to shorty.
DJ Panic:shorty is more sharp, especially when you need to like get her attention, Cause I was like well, it shouldn't be that hard because it's two syllables.
Sarah:But the second, like saying it all at once, fast and harsh, is difficult to do.
DJ Panic:Right, it doesn't have like the command.
Sarah:Exactly.
DJ Panic:Yes, yeah, that doesn't work.
Sarah:So I tried that and I'm like shorty.
DJ Panic:But I mean, that worked. That worked for me. I'm sure her owners are going to be like how come she's not responding to shortbread Cause she's spending it with me? Yeah, And walking them at the same time, Oh my God. So I have the senior dog who will be walking with me. She already knows the command. She knows what not to do. The other one doesn't. She is to, even though she has gone to training training. She goes around choking herself because she's like, wants to get every chipmunk every squirrel golfer golf.
DJ Panic:Well, my friends, where they live, they live by the Northamton golf course, so golf carts and golfers go through the apartments Not really an apartment where they live, it's weird, but anyways they have. The carts have to go through their neighborhood. Okay, so they have to go by Yeah, okay. So of course, shorty is just like, and every dog and everyone I'm like, oh my goodness, oh my goodness.
DJ Panic:I mean I usually wake up early but actually get out earlier to avoid anybody just because of her. But sometimes if biscuit doesn't want to go out, which helps me, then I can just handle shorty by itself, which makes it easier.
Sarah:But I missed them. Adventures in babysitting.
DJ Panic:I know, but today, you know, i told today's not I'm not. You know, family's actually taking care of them this weekend, so now I'm not not being with them And I'm like I missed the girls, cause even though they're shorties are paying the answer, but you know she's just like really sweet, i missed them, But anyways so. So now getting into the episode, not about pets.
DJ Panic:I do want to make a correction from our last episode for BEFIRST. Okay, we actually we mentioned that Leo's birthday was on August 8th and that he's a Leo. Yeah, no, he's actual birthday is September 8th and he's a Virgo. Oh yeah, one of the besties let us know on Twitter, which is why I make that correction. Thank you, besties, for letting us know and pointing that out that we did a wrong on poor Leo.
Sarah:Oh no.
DJ Panic:Yeah.
Sarah:Well, that means the place where I got my information was incorrect.
DJ Panic:Right. So one of the BESTY said there's. There's other websites out there that have his birthday wrong.
Sarah:Okay.
DJ Panic:So then, this BESTY pointed out to the right website, where they have the correct information. Okay. So thank you BESTY for letting us know. I mean, we always say this is an open conversation. You know where we get our news or information. You know we try to get as much information and try to cross reference somewhere else, but this is what we found and have been had to be wrong, but hey, oh man, that's okay.
Sarah:Well, you know, these things happen So yeah, making it right right now.
DJ Panic:Yes, we are, so we're making the correction. So, leo, guess what? You're going to be our fave now, because we have messed up your birthday. He's one of the other Senpais 1998. There's two in ninety eight.
Sarah:Yeah, we had that part right. Yeah, we did get that part right. It's just the birth date. So we're very, very sorry, very sorry.
DJ Panic:So leave, if you hear this Yeah.
Sarah:And yes, thank you, BESTY, for pointing that out.
DJ Panic:So, So just to start. But on the news, remember, a while ago news broke out that Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen from EXO they were like, yeah, we don't want to go back to SM. That was on June, the of June right on that week, so now on June 19, sm SM a statement that the their differences in what a yari?
DJ Panic:and now the boys have actually signed to stay with, SM and EXO interesting Mm-hmm. They even as I put there, we have resolved. There were rumors about them being, I don't know, scouted for I don't. There was some kind of stuff going on with that.
Sarah:Oh well, because when we talked about it was just that they weren't sure they were gonna stay, because we did talk briefly about a couple of different things in the entertainment world. I know that was one of them. So because we were like, yeah, what's gonna happen.
DJ Panic:I know, but we know we have our. We have our Kai out in the military. Kai comes out of the military and be like I'm done EXOL.
Sarah:Be like but we just resolved. Well, actually, he is out, what for? two years yeah, well, almost two years, Yeah, so like a while. So yeah, well, we'll see what happens. I was gonna say people know that we love our Arashi boys and our Ninomiya done his birthday live.
DJ Panic:Oh, my god, yes.
Sarah:On Twitter. He did a space. Oh my god.
DJ Panic:Girl, I was there, sharp me too, and I'm waiting. I'm like is this happening, but he's on. Yeah, it's like he's on, but nothing's going on.
Sarah:And it turns out our boy forgot to turn on his microphone for the first six minutes And it was funny because a bunch of us were tweeting, tweeting back and forth, like you know, and texting, like Dm'ing and stuff like is he going live, is he just waiting to see how many people join? what's happening right.
DJ Panic:And I know I said to you, i said to you, i was like did he forget to turn on his microphone? Being you me. I'm thinking is he pranking us, right? Is he doing a prank? Is he just like saying I'm gonna be live, but he doesn't look be a live and just keep it silent for like 30 minutes?
Sarah:Because I can see him do that. Well, that's what I was like thinking. You know, My first thought was he's just waiting to see how many people actually check it right and like check it's you know, mia it's you know from out of she you know already, like in one minute you'll have like two million people already listening.
DJ Panic:So, oh my god, of course, what happens when he actually comes online.
Sarah:We hear the tinkling ice cubes in a glass.
DJ Panic:Like I'm like, oh, no, he's drunk.
Sarah:Well, it was his birthday.
DJ Panic:He's alone I know, and I'm like, oh, my god, you can tell on his voice. And he's like anpai. The nearest cup that I had with me I grabbed and I kanpai with him. Mm-hmm, I mean, I could understand a little bit of what he was saying. I did heard go menasai Mm-hmm, I'm like, oh, he just messed up.
Sarah:He was too cute.
DJ Panic:So I saw some translations about it. He was just saying that he was very happy and It's his birthday and he's been celebrating. He's been happy from all the congratulations and wishes.
Sarah:Oh, 40, i know big deal. I was trying to find. I wanted to post the picture of the cake that we had the first time me, my sister and my cousin ever celebrated their birthdays. Because we used to do that. We'd get together and have a cake. And I was like somewhere I have a cake with the yellow happy birthday, nino. And I couldn't find the picture of it because that would have been from 2007 or eight, maybe I can't remember what year we first started celebrating. But I was like, where's that cake picture? You were unprepared, you forgot, i know well. Well, no, it's, it should have just been handy. But yeah, no, i was unprepared because, you know, i've just wasn't been dealing with stuff, you know. So sorry, Ninomiya somewhere I have a picture of a cake we had for you years ago. Cakes long gone. Well, no, people keep like wedding cakes and stuff. Why a hundred year old cake? no thanks, you know.
DJ Panic:Frieza burn and well I think, isn't there?
Sarah:some, though, like old wives tale about keeping it for a year and then.
DJ Panic:I heard that.
Sarah:Some sort of make a wish on it.
DJ Panic:I don't think that's a Spanish thing, because in Puerto Rico We don't do that. I don't know who started that.
Sarah:I don't know who does it, i just know, for some reason there is a thing about that.
DJ Panic:Yeah, I heard that before and I'm like this gotta be. No, no, no, no.
Sarah:So other news Yes, TXT just finished their tour out in California and they got together with somebody.
DJ Panic:Yes.
Sarah:And they're gonna be releasing a single digital single on July 7th.
DJ Panic:Yes, family is so excited when they heard the news. they were like, oh my god, i'm like what? Look at this. I'm like so is TXT and the Jonas Brothers. Yeah, oh my god, Jonas Brothers.
Sarah:They're gonna be doing a song called do it like that, so hmm, yeah, and they've been doing all kinds of little I don't know if it's Instagram reels, it's gotta be, because I don't really pay attention to TikT ok, right, but it might be a TikT ok that they put on Instagram.
Sarah:You know That'd be rehab and and and on twitter, you know, sharing all over the place, but they've got little videos of the guys all working together. So So, yeah, no, that ought to be pretty cool. Yes, ought to be pretty cool. Yes, they were all excited, at least.
DJ Panic:Oh my god, you know yeah well, come on.
Sarah:Jonas Brothers should be like TXT, exactly.
DJ Panic:Oh, they're both very, very excited about this. Yes, come on, you can see them. They're being hamming it up. They've been hamming it up Oh yeah, absolutely, on their reels and whatever little things that they're doing.
DJ Panic:Yeah, so now that you said, mention that. So on today's OK Asia, I'm gonna say is today's June 23rd no 24th, so on there. Um, so I found this article, actually I found this thread it was very interesting because it's like. You know, you scroll through your ig, your Tik Tok and you see all these challenges that each group will have. Like KARD has the icky one, and ATEEZ also have theirs. Straight kids, you know all those groups. You know stones and also snowman will have theirs. Yada, yada, yada. So this is a very interesting thread. Too many dance challenges. Fans debate over the effectiveness and value of dance challenges, but this is in kpop, okay so kpop netizens were debating about.
DJ Panic:This is getting too out of hand. I'm gonna be reading some of these quotes because I was like So I get that, because you know I will be going through my ig and I follow some of these groups And of course, it will pop up on my feed.
Sarah:You know, me too. You're like another one, another one.
DJ Panic:Exactly Okay. So you feel me and I'm like okay, different version, different Okay right, yeah, you're, even though it's different.
Sarah:You're like okay, i just saw one of these, i just saw one and sometimes it is not as a group, but it's each individual member.
DJ Panic:Or like little subunit two and two, and two and yeah, there's the same song and whatever I get, i get the marketing for that. That's the way you're promoting the new single for the group. So they're just trying to use whatever reels or stories or Tik Tok, whatever you know, to get more fans. I get that. That's the marketing part, you know, to get them noticed. So this is a fan and I quote "they don't look like singers or artists, but tick tockers, mm-hmm. This is a fan, okay. Uh. Another one says I'm okay with about four, but anything more than that. It makes the song look cheap.
Sarah:Well, i was gonna say because I was just thinking about this in my head I'm like when did this whole thing sort of start? It was a few years ago and it was. It was just people like you and I putting on the music and doing a dance challenge and loading it on Tik Tok like it was to see whether fans could do the dance choreography. So I get what that first commenter was saying, because it does. What I remember was it was just people being like Oh, the new dance challenge for whatever you know right song came out And I think it really blew up sort of during the pandemic, yeah, and then artists were doing their own, but it was like they did it to challenge you to copy it.
Sarah:So there was only one group of people doing one song at a time. And now it's like we were saying is you're seeing, you know, one member, maybe two members, and you're seeing it over and over and over again? Yeah, it is. You're like, okay, I'd really rather just listen to the song, watch a dance practice video, maybe on YouTube Yeah.
Sarah:Thanks, it is sort of excessive right now. Here's another quote. Sorry, i didn't mean it.
DJ Panic:Here's a no. No, that's good. I wanted to also spark your comment on this. So this is another one. "My bias group is a girl group. I'm not saying that they should just completely stop the challenges, but that my brain just gets tired of them. It's true, especially if you have like nine members in a group And if they have like one single member doing their own thing. Yeah, it gets tiring. So I put a poll out on okay, asia and I mentioned that, and people are like no, they're not tired of it, i'm like okay. But then I'm thinking.
DJ Panic:Most of my audience are from Japan, so I think for the Japanese audience or Japanese artists, their getting more into that, as per K-pop has been doing this longer.
Sarah:There's that, but also what I've noticed is the dance challenges from Japanese groups and artists aren't as frequent. I haven't seen them popping up as much.
Sarah:You know, TikTok notices so and so did a TikTok, because a bunch of them do have TikTok accounts. Even though they may not have Instagram or Twitter, they do have TikToks. But I still I don't feel like it's as much. No, the Japanese artists aren't doing as many as often as the K-pop.
DJ Panic:My audience, comes from Japan. When it comes to TikTok challenges for Japanese artists, yeah, there's not that many, because right now I'm going to go back to Johnny's, because now they have the majority of you know they're getting more opening to social media world Snowman have done some challenges, as well as Stones, Naniwadanshi as well.
Sarah:Travis Japan.
DJ Panic:Travis, Japan. definitely They're on that as well. They're getting more into the social media aspect of making reels and also the challenges.
Sarah:Where the K-pop fans the one saying it's too much?
DJ Panic:Yes. Okay, so the name of this thread is too many dance challenges. Question mark Fans debate over the effectiveness and value of dance challenges in K-pop.
Sarah:Okay, specifically.
DJ Panic:So K-poppers. K-popies are like okay, done with this, oh okay.
Sarah:I thought those were comments on your.
DJ Panic:No, no, no, Okay, no this is the thread that I found.
Sarah:Okay, you found a thread and then you did your own thing. Okay, okay, right, right, got it.
DJ Panic:So I'm like now, this is interesting because I was feeling the same way.
Sarah:Right, you know Well and because of what we do and how we follow artists, maybe a lot of people don't see as many as we do, right? Because, of how many people we're following.
DJ Panic:Oh my God, yes, yes, so lately, okay. So you know, I like to listen to my Asian artists and whatever, but you know, while I was away from home, I'm like I'm going to be away from this too. So I started listening to my old music, not old music, but music that I'm like. Oh my God, i want to listen to something else. So my friends, have a Siri.
DJ Panic:So, I'm like yelling it out. I'm like, Hey, Siri play this. And through the house And I'm like, oh, wow, this is so good. I told you I felt like I'm in an air BNB, so I'm like different world. There's, they have a deck, I'm out there. Oh man, I was like on vacation. I loved it. That's what I'm saying. I missed the girls, but you know I was working. So, yeah, I was listening to Madness. Oh yeah, yeah, I was listening to The Cure. I was listening to She Wants Revenge, Bach. I put Bach when I need to do something.
DJ Panic:And actually the puppies calm down, especially for that Shorty.
Sarah:Yeah, no, they love classical music.
DJ Panic:Oh, my God.
Sarah:Animals do enjoy my guys. Yeah, they mellow out, but they do enjoy all the Japanese music, because Presley always comes and hangs out when I'm actually, i should say, just Asian artists, because more than just J-pop that I listened to, Presley enjoys it. I'm not sure about Bowie. He seems to like heavy metal. I don't know Anything. Yeah, anything that's loud and like aggressive Bowie will come out for. Well, hello, he is a bit aggressive, but Presley just enjoy. I think he must speak like Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese. You know he knows these languages, I don't know.
DJ Panic:In another life he was exactly like that.
Sarah:But it's funny you talking about listening to you know non Asian artists because you're out of the house. And I was sort of the same way while I was on vacation. I was what came up on my mix was Killers. I was like oh my God, I hadn't thought about them in ages. Yes, I was like somebody told me Whoa.
DJ Panic:Now I gotta go back on this.
Sarah:Right I was like oh yeah, I did really enjoy these guys. You know, you forget when we're doing our little projects and listening to just one artist break. you're like my brain needs to reset, exactly.
DJ Panic:I need to listen to something else you know.
Sarah:go back to something you're like yeah, yeah, yeah Same thing I've got the cures in the Smiths, the cure, sorry, the cures, the cures, the cures, the cure, the Smiths pet shop boys and stuff.
DJ Panic:Another one that I really, really like The Stranglers are awesome. Golden Brown is like my favorite song. Love that song, I don't know, I just love it.
Sarah:But yeah, so it was funny. I was like, oh my God, i haven't heard this in forever, I haven't listened to it in forever.
DJ Panic:The web is listening to us, Like they actually just into killers and stranglers. What British groups?
Sarah:Killers are from Vegas, Vegas, Yeah, they're American.
DJ Panic:but I know it's like kind of names, are they names?
Sarah:Yep, us and our craziness.
DJ Panic:So, yes, challenges, tiktok, dance, challenges for Kpop Yeah, i will agree that it's getting a bit out of hand, but for promotion, and you know, marketing tactics. Yeah, that's the way to go for those platforms.
Sarah:So what else have you got?
DJ Panic:I was going to say ATEEZ, yeah, they've been killing it.
Sarah:They've like what sold 1.5 million in the first week in their BOUNCY like streamed over 7 million times.
DJ Panic:At this point And I was just like okay, Oh really. Yeah, This week is their number one without bouncing.
Sarah:Well, because you hadn't posted your top five yet.
DJ Panic:Not yet, so you just gave it away. I've been busy. Well, now you know you heard her here, but when?
Sarah:they come out, I'll probably already posted. Yeah, you'll post it.
DJ Panic:But by the time this come by, this episode dropped. I wasn't sure when you. Yeah, i just it's just like I said, maybe my schedule was not the same. So to get into the computer and sit down and do something is it's not which. By the way, i have sent some news that I have not reported. Everybody has what I haven't yet. I might as well just say it, and he won't with that And she just gonna drop the album.
DJ Panic:So yeah report for that And I'm like dang it. I'm looking at the internet. Oh, it was reporting it. I'm gonna be late, But yes, So AT since that album drop on June 16, girl, like you said, it has been the best selling as of yet And also number 10 in the UK charts. That's a first, Besides BTS, because BTS was the only one that also you know was was able to do that same ranking.
Sarah:Well, AT's is from a smaller entertainment group.
DJ Panic:They're not from the big four girl.
Sarah:Yeah, so they're definitely.
DJ Panic:KQ Entertainment. It's a small entertainment company, you know, and you know who else came out from that Cykers.
Sarah:Are they? Yeah, i was gonna say they're the baby. Did you see the small group, the baby group? One of one of the members just dyed his hair green. Who I don't know, i don't remember From Cykers. Yeah, there was a picture He dyed his hair green And then there's a picture of him holding a watermelon.
DJ Panic:Oh my God. Next to his head with his hair, Oh no, Oh my God.
Sarah:It was funny. He started making fun of himself. I might have it somewhere.
DJ Panic:Green hair color is not for everybody. You need to have the skin tone for it. Like I cannot pull that off.
Sarah:Here. I just actually I just shared the tweet. Okay, well, i tweeted a response to it, which you'll be able to see. So somewhere I was laughing at it because it was funny Like he's holding a watermelon, omg.
DJ Panic:Sometimes I wonder is that you wanted that color? or they said, no, you're gonna be green. That's a good question, because that's what happened with BTS too. Yeah, it was one time when, poor sugar, they're like you're gonna be blonde And he's like what? No, he was. I remember he was complaining about that burnt his scalp actually actually came out. I'm like oh my God, poor boy Like never again, And then later on he would have blonde again.
Sarah:You know, done it a few times since well and then, but then you had Jin doing his own hair purple. Yeah, it actually, though it didn't look that bad, because it sort of had layers of darker purple and lighter purple, because when you do it yourself, sometimes you're not as right, right.
DJ Panic:I did actually like RM when he had this like he was like lavender pink, he looked like black cherry ice cream.
Sarah:You know black or black cherry ice cream.
DJ Panic:Oh my God, which I love that, but that was his hair color.
Sarah:Yeah, it's not quite purple, It's not quite lavender, it's sort of a.
DJ Panic:So I was like oh my God, i love that And you look good on him. He looks so good. Definitely Like that color looked suit him. Of course, jimin looks amazing blonde. Jimin is a blonde.
Sarah:Yeah, he does.
DJ Panic:He looks so beautiful. Oh, like he's not beautiful, but I mean, oh, blonde, i love him blonde, definitely.
Sarah:Well, i'm so used to seeing him blonde that when he let his hair go dark I was like who's that? Why Jimin dye his hair black? Because he's not really a blonde. Exactly That's the dye job.
DJ Panic:But yeah, exactly.
Sarah:No, it looks so natural on him.
DJ Panic:You know? so yeah, like he, just like you're born to be a blonde, You're born to be a blonde Boom.
Sarah:So yeah, now, when he has his hair his natural color, i'm always like it just doesn't look right Right.
DJ Panic:So from all the members of BDS, definitely Jimin should be blonde. Everybody else is dark color. I don't know how about V V? one time had to have this caramel color. The caramel.
Sarah:I like right The tutu blonde. He can pull off, but I think he for him that caramel color looks like it was a natural color, right? Even though you know it's dyed, it suited him very much Yeah.
Sarah:And well, because he had the caramel perm and then he had the caramel regular right. So it changed how it looked based on whether he had the curly hair or the straight hair right. When it was straight and it was the caramel, it looked natural, like that was his hair color. But he can pull off any color too. I think RM can pull off any color. Yeah, he's looked fabulous with the. Well, that yellow yellow was a little extreme, yeah, but yeah, but he's had blue, he's had orange. He's looked good with everything. It's one of those things It's got. It's just like once, but also once you see it and start to get used to it and you're like oh, okay, you know, except for that silver, that gray, not everybody can pull that off.
DJ Panic:Yeah, and there've been people that I love who've done it, And I'm like no, please, now the one member who's not BTS that can pull that color Raul from Snowman. Remember when he had that? we're like, oh my God.
Sarah:Yeah, he looked amazing.
DJ Panic:We're like oh my God poor boy you're here, but he looks so good And of course you know he's like six, two, all legs, one. Oh, he's fabulous. Have you seen his IG lately? He was in California, did a shoot.
Sarah:He's loving the modeling Oh my God he is, And he's so good at it. He is just a natural.
DJ Panic:You can't tell He's such a performer. Oh, so cute.
Sarah:My God, we feel like we went way off topic. What, what's wrong with?
DJ Panic:my hair.
Sarah:I know, But we started because we were talking about ATEEZ's. You know, groundbreaking What you started it with the green hair, But it was well, it was because it's the KQ Entertainment and Cykers and the green hair and the yeah tangent. Well, you know, that's what these are. Ransom ramblings are a free for all, Exactly.
DJ Panic:Oh, and one dance challenge that I've been loving a lot ATEEZ Going back. They're bouncy Girl, the K-pop chili peppers Girl there's one out there that all the fans are going wild, yeah, wild, just like I'm. Like yo, yo, boy, yo. That camera angle cannot be anymore. Your face Oh my God. I know, everybody knows what I'm talking about. You've seen it right.
Sarah:Well, I've seen a bunch of them So I'm sure it's been in the middle of it all.
DJ Panic:Girl, you cannot miss this Maybe.
Sarah:I did miss it.
DJ Panic:Oh my God, because that's the only thing I see on reels, because fans have been taking that shot and posting on theirs and then posting that the other friend comes over and I'm taking it, putting it on mine and it's like everywhere. It's just that shot.
Sarah:Oh, it's just one shot.
DJ Panic:It's not even them.
Sarah:Oh wow, this is fan. Okay, maybe I haven't seen it then, because, oh my God, girl, like I said, just watching them doing the dance everywhere has been like whoa.
DJ Panic:Well, this is from a show, okay. So a fan saw this clip and this fan is like, oh, i'm just taking that part and spreading it. Of course It's that juicy. Of course They take that. I'm sure the friend saw it, the other friend saw it, then that friend took it and saw it. Then they post it on their whatever. They keep posting it and posting it, and posting it, and posting it, and posting it. It's just only that shot.
Sarah:Okay Then, if it's only a one shot deal. I have not, i don't think, seen that It's like it's like 15 on Instagram or on.
DJ Panic:Oh, you can find it on both Instagram and TikTok. I'm sure everybody have spreading that like wildfire. So anyways, oh my goodness, so yeah, ateez, bouncy dance. It's not even a dance challenge, this is a. This is just a fan. Oh, this is a fan making reels out of a TV show.
Sarah:Okay, a TV appearance.
DJ Panic:Wow. You know, those are the ones groups get famous because of the fans Fancy something that should be shared, like this bouncy part, this bouncy part, this bouncy part. Fans know what they're looking at, so this fans like, oh, i'm going to be sharing this, of course, spread it like wildfire between themselves, and this is how the group gets famous or gets noticed. Right Now I'm not going to say just because of that, they now got famous. I mean, ateez is amazing. You know, they've been around for a while.
Sarah:So exactly, This isn't their first album. people knew.
DJ Panic:And actually when they tour the US they sold out. Yeah, I know They sold out, because I was thinking I'm like, yeah, it's not happening.
Sarah:No, it's been like that with all the artists.
DJ Panic:Yeah, So so let's say if ATEEZ this would be like the first ATEEZ This is not like the second album, this is like their first album. If a fan saw that and starts spreading like wildfire, i bet that would help them catapult. So fans know what actually helps the artist. The majority of marketing doesn't know. They should always leave it to the fans.
Sarah:Fans know what they're doing.
DJ Panic:Well.
Sarah:I was going to say speaking of fans. Did you see the big bruhaha, the fans that got sent by fans of? I want to say this correctly Taeyon from Girls Generation Yes, Protesting about how the company's not doing enough to promote her solo stuff.
DJ Panic:Girl.
Sarah:I know And they're like, the arenas you're booking aren't big enough, or the venues I should say because it's not arenas The venues you're booking aren't big enough for all the fans. You're not promoting her, You're not doing. So they sent like four or five vans to protest.
DJ Panic:This is for us.
Sarah:Yeah, sitting outside the entertainment headquarters blaring stuff about it, and SM called the police to be like this is a nuisance And the police came and said they have a right to protest. Exactly.
DJ Panic:That was the precious moment right there. It's like justice to the fans. Exactly, That's justice to the fans. When I saw that article and I'm like Girls Generation is just in the round Like really, Because they're not promoting?
Sarah:them, and this is just her solo endeavors at the moment. That's just crazy And but it was funny. Yeah, the police were like well, you know you have to register, you know that you're going to be here protesting. So they did it Exactly, and they did it like on the spot And everything was cleared up. They were like they have a right to be here, Exactly, And that's yeah, that is so awesome. That is just the greatest thing ever I've seen.
DJ Panic:Fans are like fans know how you're doing dirty by our girl, we want to leave this stuff to the fans.
Sarah:Definitely.
DJ Panic:I'm sorry who you're paying. I don't know 100s of, you know thousands of dollars for marketing. Well, it's ridiculous.
Sarah:Well, we've talked about this before too, especially with the girl groups, not just SM, all of the agency's girl groups Yeah, they other than Black Pink, and even them. a lot of times I was like I didn't know they were doing this because there was no promotions about it. And I mean Black Pink's huge, yeah, right, with all of their girl groups. these companies seem to just sort of you know, well, we'll put out a little two sentence blurb. they're going to be touring soon, you know, at like look a secret number. Yeah, they really need to amp up their promotions for these groups. It's unreal. Yeah, i'm glad the fans were like, hey, here's the deal. because people were like we can't even go see her perform because you're putting her in venues that hold, you know, a minimal amount of people and she can sell out these places.
DJ Panic:So girl's generation, girl Girls generation. they all have amazing vocals.
Sarah:So and.
DJ Panic:SM is just like whatever Right, Because it's girl group.
Sarah:I guess I shouldn't know. I should call them out on it. No, you know all of them.
DJ Panic:Yeah, the fans are calling out on them. We should as well, because it's not fair.
Sarah:Well, i mean, i would say not just them all across the board the girl groups get yeah.
DJ Panic:Oh my god, my group at last FX the same thing like there. It was for their 10th year anniversary. I'm like, okay, they should be having a comeback, they should just their biggest.
Sarah:Something should be going on.
DJ Panic:You know that the members actually had to do it themselves because the YG was not doing anything. Their last video, amber was the one that directed and this is like well, they're not gonna do anything. You have a phone, you have a phone, you have a phone, i have a phone. Let's take our phones and just do a mini videos and that's what we're gonna be. We're gonna take I'm gonna take all your splices, you know if your your shots and whatever and make the video ourselves. They did it themselves and that was like their hand, like okay, that's it, we're gone, we're just banding. I'm like what? the F? Oh man That was. They're just shady, just just no. And like 21 and this and this is this. This is with what? Oh, j Way P Sorry, j Way P was FX, yg was 21. I know the one that were like what's going on with 21? looks like they're in a hiatus. I think it's going on.
DJ Panic:This is like the biggest power group that you have, like blah, blah, blah. You know They disbanded, then they come back and then they just like they just That's just so pissed. It's just like mistreating the girls. You know power power group girls. They're so freaking good, bringing them millions and they just treat them like shit. Mm-hmm.
Sarah:Oh, it's the way. It's been like that everywhere. What else have we got?
DJ Panic:buddies About the biggest news Coming out from Japan. Actually, this one is an article from Yahoo.
Sarah:Japan. So it's still, isn't that kind of still tabloid II I Sent that article to one of our friends. Uh-huh.
DJ Panic:I have not gotten a response from our friend, so I don't know, is maybe she's just too busy, that's. So I was gonna try and DM her and be like, hey, what do you think about this? It's just true, because I did a rough Translation, i do have the link of the article which I would like to put on the show notes. Okay, so if somebody you know, can you know translate it for us to make sure. But on June 18th Yahoo Japan Reported that show Hidano and Utah Jinguji signed with Takis entertainment company to be. That's what I Translated roughly from Google translate. As you all know, google translate can always, you know.
DJ Panic:Misinterpret a lot of the things, right, so that's. I want to make that clear to everybody, that what I, what I'm going to say, it's from Google translate and I'm not really sure if this is real news right, cuz I thought Yahoo Japan was still considered like a tabloid, not actual news, right sort of like it.
Sarah:You know, yahoo news here is. Tabloidy so you can never be sure, but yeah, i saw that. I can't remember. Did we talk about it on the show or did we want to avoid mentioning it When?
DJ Panic:you said that. Now I'm like I haven't heard anything or seen any you know, like I wanted to see an article Mm-hmm saying it and I'm like I haven't seen anything. And then you mentioned that. And then later on that week And I'm like, look at this, like right on June 18th I saw that from Yahoo news and I'm like, hey, so the article with the rough translation says that Show and Jin were supposed to start as of July 1st.
DJ Panic:That's coming up, so we'll see and another, not just only them, but also the yuck again.
Sarah:And Impactors as well. Well, all right, cuz remember I think we did talk about it in one of our rants and ramblings When I said it's interesting. When he formed the to be, i was like so he was too tired and burned out to keep working.
DJ Panic:Yeah, he's Johnny's. I'm not doing any entertainment thing.
Sarah:Yeah, i'm leaving the entertainment business And then suddenly he's creating an entertainment business And at the time when we were talking about, i was like oh, and now suddenly all these artists are leaving, leaving, where are they gonna go? Oh, and I mean there are people who had left Johnny's earlier, right than this, that I wonder if they're going to Circle back around and cuz they're still all friends and right, so it's very Interesting.
DJ Panic:So also on the article, of course translated roughly from Google me from a from Google translate Speculating that tacky Well, no tacky posted on his Twitter a picture of a ramen that he went to Nagoya. now The on the pictures says visiting, saying hello to people involved in Takisawa Kabuki in Nagoya. Oh, i'm like, are you like spreading your card and you're like hey, you know, he just saying hello. I mean Takisawa Kabuki is his, that is always his name, you know, it's Practically his show right, well, it was he.
Sarah:He was the one who is producing it.
DJ Panic:Interesting that he's going to say Hello to people involved and who was who's involved in Takisawa Kabuki, slow man, and just to say personally Okay, so then you was debuted. A group right now is Travis, japan, but remember by two years ago We had stones and slow man debuted at the same year. Right from the those two, snowman is the most popular. Well, they've.
Sarah:They got a lot more going on outside of just being snowman too. You know what I mean. Like you have Raul out on the internet, You've got dice K doing all his little shows and cosplay stuff. You know, getting noticed for things as Members of the group Mm-hmm stones has been sort of more just staying as group. You know what I mean.
DJ Panic:Oh, I hope you've been doing some acting Right, but that's well a shintaro and Jesse, but acting still is part of it's.
Sarah:It's different it's Because all of them you know all the guys in snowman did acting things. Raul was in a drama and and Iwamoto and you know what I mean. That's right. That's not the same as like leaving and going and doing like Raul went to Paris and was modeling and was. You know what I mean. He's come to LA and he's modeling and he's right and, like I said, dice case stuff.
DJ Panic:He's been doing a lot of Outside the music business, in the entertainment companies now recently, dice kid has the he's, he's a, he's a villain Which, oh my god, Yeah, oh, i know I can't, i want to see that, but so that's Break my heart.
Sarah:I love it. But see, like that's what, oh no did. His very first drama was he was a bad guy and I was like, oh my god, i love it. Oh, my little short boys doing My favorite members all the short ones, you know, like the half points.
Sarah:But playing the bad guy, i love it, i love it. So what? what? these members of snowman a lot of them have been doing things outside of just being, you know, a Member of the band and a drama They're doing like super extra curricular, right? So it's, they're more noticeable internationally because of that now I wonder did tacky?
DJ Panic:No, because Mr Johnny was still alive. Who actually pulled that group together? the tacky did, or was a Johnny?
Sarah:mr Johnny? Good question, it might have been, mr Johnny. I'm not a hundred percent sure. Okay, that would need to snow babies.
DJ Panic:If anybody listening to this episode who created? It's no man. Was it a takisawa project or did mr Johnny actually just combine them all, because remember before they were only?
Sarah:Six members and then they became nine right. Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah, right, if it was still under Johnny or not.
DJ Panic:So Snow Babies, please let us know, because we don't have all that information on how, how that, who created snowman?
Sarah:What we, Johnny Mr.
DJ Panic:Johnny, or was Takisawa who made that possible? Because hello Takisawa Kabuki you know, I don't know if he's had that plan already and be like definitely I want to use this group. I want to pull all these members and then use that group for that production.
Sarah:Right, because they've been sort of his house group.
DJ Panic:Right.
Sarah:The group, his go-to group, yeah.
DJ Panic:So, anyways, kind of interesting that if he went over there to say hello, i mean, why not?
Sarah:I think this is stuff we've talked about, not on air just because we don't want people getting the wrong ideas. We're not. We don't want to spread false information.
DJ Panic:Yeah.
Sarah:But we've talked about things amongst ourselves and this was one of them. He quits Johnny's in September and then in November he's creating a. I don't think this didn't happen overnight. No, You know what I mean And I think that I like his.
DJ Panic:Twitter Now his. Twitter felt, you know like, oh yeah, i'm going to do whatever I want. Again, we use Google translate to translate out of his tweets And I'm like girl, this Twitter is like I'm going to get you, i'm going to get you, i'm going to do whatever I want. I'm free from you. You know like it felt that way.
Sarah:I mean, he's being very sassy you know, like, we're like yeah, without naming anyone and without pointing, I think he's just yeah, he's letting someone know Exactly Like oh, I didn't say this was about you, Exactly.
DJ Panic:Why do you think it's about you? Exactly Because it is.
Sarah:It's yeah, it's definitely that sassy.
DJ Panic:Hopefully. So I'll post the article If somebody can please, you know, read it. Tell us if it's a rumor, as you know, if it's just tabloid thing or if it's really true. I mean, i'm going to try and see if I can reach out to our friend Friend, yeah, maybe she's just really busy and wasn't able to look at it, so but this one, when it came out, i'm like, oh man, let's see if she can help us out. But you know she got work and then she's doing the translation like a volunteer thing.
DJ Panic:you know, that's her public service, just like a ha-woke-age of the public service. So hey, snow Babies, or you know friends out there, let us know what's going on, because that's very, very interesting It's getting.
Sarah:Yeah, it's getting juicy and spicy, But it was, like I said, something we talked about behind.
DJ Panic:Oh yeah.
Sarah:Behind closed doors. We were like oh, this seems sort of like because you saying Miyake Ken, i was. That was one of the first things I said. Oh, everybody's suddenly dropping like flies. And where are they going to go? Because they don't. They're not just dropping out of the business, no, and girl.
DJ Panic:The biggest news was when there's like impactors leaving, i know What? Yeah, well what, the whole group, the whole group, yeah, not just a couple of people, everybody. Exactly. How can a whole group you say that's it, bye, takizawa is zero The movie? who's backing up No man? Impactors Nagoya Hello, how you doing people, hello, you're going missing my friends.
Sarah:He's head hunting. Okay, exactly, he's scouting.
DJ Panic:What I'm going to do right now is just doing a, not a real dramatization, but just something that I can think of. that it happened that day Taki went over there and be like hi boys, how you doing? I see you doing a great show and this is your final show. I'm putting back my card on the table that, if you're ready to leave, you are more than welcome.
Sarah:Yeah Well, like I said, you know the timeline of things. I was immediately under the impression that this didn't just happen and that there was, there may have been planning you know what I mean Long before. Oh yeah, oh, sort of all you know behind the scenes. So, okay, some stuff. So also in there. This is just, you know our thoughts, our opinions Yes Well, last year, no These are all rumors.
DJ Panic:Yuta Kishi is no longer working on Prince, but he's staying until the end of September. So guess what? Somebody's going to be available until the end of September. If somebody at the end of September says I'm going to be into me, Then we'll know for sure You know, we'll see. Man.
Sarah:Girl.
DJ Panic:So watch this. So we're recording this right now. We'll drop it on Sunday, and on Sunday comes out everything to light. We're like we said that before, but I mean, we always had a hunch, we had the gut feeling. We'll see. We'll see if our gut feelings come to fruition.
Sarah:Omg, it was in an episode that I actually was like it seems a little Oh yeah, a little contrived, but okay, yes, there's another big news is happening, but we're not saying anything on that one.
DJ Panic:Yeah, no, we'll wait. Yeah, we'll definitely wait on that one. yeah.
Sarah:Yeah, no, that's, we'll wait, We'll wait.
DJ Panic:We'll definitely wait on that, all right, we should probably just end it there.
Sarah:All right, girl with our, our speculation Exactly.
DJ Panic:Thank you, everybody for listening to this crazy music.
DJ Panic:It's all over the place It's an open conversation And, speaking of open conversation, we receive. So we have our form, our music elixir form, which I have put it also on the show notes. You can click on that too, if you want to leave a request for a group or artists that you want us to talk about. You know, review and talk about also any questions you have for us. Please do so. Any comments as well. On my stomach is going crazy. Now it's your turn. I know Usually Sarah is the one like, today is me, but we had a friend who send us a message actually through there, and I do want to read it. Of course, our form is anonymous, but you can leave the name of the city and the country that you're sending your message from.
DJ Panic:So but I do want it to read this because it's very important. It's I found it that is important to be said. This listener or one of you know one of our, our listeners saying sorry to use this form out of the blue. I really want to report it. Hello, dj Panic sound, i'm sorry to inform you that from now on, i can no longer address you on Twitter. Unfortunately, i was bullied. However, i will continue to make requests via the request form. I will also enjoy your weekly broadcast. Thank you so much for everything, and that's it. I'm not going to say who's who. The fan is What.
Sarah:Definitely not.
DJ Panic:But I've been noticing some shady behavior. I've been noticing some things like that And that's why that's one of the reasons I made the Google form. This person so addressed me through the. the one on on on musical literature, because I have, for you can put more information in there. Ask for the one on OK Asia, because on OK Asia is just the song and the artist.
Sarah:That's all you need to do Yeah, just a request form, but this person you know.
DJ Panic:Thank you very much for reaching out. If you're listening to musical literature and listening to this episode, i am terribly sorry that happened to you. And you know I'm doing these forms for the same reason, because I have been seeing some quote unquote fans being too extra for their artists and then looking down or just I'm just going to say plantly shitting on other fans from other fandoms. I don't like that. No we don't like that Exactly.
Sarah:We've talked about that before. If you've got your fandom and you love them, why do you need to down everybody else's? exactly We're fans of so many different artists and so many different genres and so much music like that's. there's nothing wrong with that, and you've got your favorites. I've got favorites. So if you want to focus on one artist, that's. That's fine.
DJ Panic:You do that.
Sarah:Exactly You do. you just focus on your artist and let everybody else focus on their artist.
DJ Panic:Exactly So.
Sarah:I'm very sorry to hear that That's too bad.
DJ Panic:Yes, that's, you know you take care of your artist, so what? So if you don't like that, all the artists, you know what? You shouldn't even be paying attention to that artist you know, or their fans. Exactly, let it all Exactly. You know, so don't even even look at those fans And you know.
Sarah:stuff you weren't expecting pops up on your Twitter feed, your Instagram, whatever. Just scroll past it. You can block it too.
DJ Panic:I know There is a feature actually all the platforms have it If you want to block something you don't want to see block it, you know.
Sarah:I'm not interested, yeah, the algorithm will know.
DJ Panic:Okay, well, you will not be seeing that anymore. Just, you know, concentrate on your, what your your goal is. If your artist, whoever you're following, do that, that is the possible way to do. I'm so sorry that this, you know. If somebody does goes over and bullies you, you report it. You know. If you can't, if they're completely nasty, yes, you can report that person. Oh, you know what, Better yet, just block it.
DJ Panic:But you got to remember that it's the fan, not the artist, don't be, saying I'm not going to be following artists so and so because their fans are nasty. So he, you know, he or she, or artists, blah, blah, blah, it's nasty as well. No, this is, this is a fan thing. They get too extra And, you know, they just only think that their idol is like the idol and it's just 100, it does it. So don't let, don't let this, you know, get you down. I mean, i'm glad I'm doing the forums because this is a way to minimize, not avoid, because it's never I mean, you can never avoid just to minimize this type of behavior, to minimize this negativity between fans, fandoms and whatnot. We're all here for the same thing is to boost your favorite, you know.
Sarah:Well, it's good that that was brought to mainly your attention, because I think it's probably more associated to the okay, asia than it is to music elixir. But I'm glad someone stepped forward to say that this is happening And yeah we hope that everybody knows that your show, but also this podcast, is just about enjoying all music and all artists And we don't want to see people downing each other just because you don't we don't always agree on stuff. We don't start slinging stuff and name calling each other, because you know exactly.
DJ Panic:What do you mean?
Sarah:What do you mean? I was cuter than Oh no, no, i don't think so.
DJ Panic:What.
Sarah:What There come on. So you know we're not trying to make this out to be a joke, but this is how. This is how we feel. Right, we want to let you know that, like you don't have to agree, and that's okay. You don't have to have the same favorite artist, and that's okay. Respect each other's choices and decisions. Exactly That's all we want, want everybody to do.
DJ Panic:Exactly.
Sarah:Because music's universal. Everybody can enjoy it, everybody can create it. Yep, some better than others.
DJ Panic:Yeah.
Sarah:But you know, so we all got to live in this big world together.
DJ Panic:Try to be nice. That's a way. Yeah, concentrate on your thing, stay on your lane. Stay on your lane. But hey, somebody needs help. Help others.
Sarah:Definitely Exactly.
DJ Panic:You know, when I help others, others help me. you know, think of that too, And also only good things will come. Right Positive vibes, everybody You haven't said that in a while I know All right, those, the Pisces twinsies going together. Thank you everybody.
Sarah:Well, are we? are we doing the rate review? share, share, share. You just did All right.
DJ Panic:Thank you everybody. Yeah, until next time, bye, bye, sunny.
