Off the Beat World Tour Experience

Speaker 1

Hello everybody , welcome back for another episode of Music Elixir with me , sarah and Ms Panic , Because we've determined she's just Ms Panic for the podcast .

Speaker 2

Ms , ms , ms , ms , I'm going to give you some buzzing .

Speaker 1

Ms Business , ms Panic .

Speaker 2

Exactly so . Today's not a rants and rambling .

Speaker 1

Well , I think every day is a rants and rambling . It's just whether or not we have a set topic .

Speaker 2

Yeah , but it's a set topic today .

Speaker 1

Yes , we do yes .

Speaker 2

We are going to talk about our concert experience on Off the beat world tour with mr I am for those who don't know , I am is from monster x .

Speaker 1

He's doing a solo . Well , he's been doing a lot of solo music yes uh , doing a solo tour because the bandmates are off serving their military time .

Speaker 2

But he's actually been doing some solo stuff even prior to that so yeah , he's been dabbing on doing his you know home music for quite some time and looking into some solo career and well , he left the label .

Speaker 1

Yes , not the band , the label .

Speaker 2

We all know this confusing I know how can you be not in the label , but with the band and blah , blah , blah . And well , it's , it's doable and it's happening a lot because , yeah , more and more artists want to have control of their own creations . Autonomy .

Speaker 1

Yeah , exactly , I want to control my path so exactly so that's what he's been doing , releasing some really great music . We have talked about some of his singles over the past few months , right and actually , I think , starting last year .

Speaker 2

Yes , we have .

Speaker 1

Because we do really enjoy his music , we enjoy his artistry . So he was finally doing a world tour , coming to Boston .

Speaker 2

I'm so happy because you know he actually lived in Boston . Yes , he did which , you know , he did some reminiscing , you know .

Speaker 1

After you know the talking breaks .

Speaker 2

He was talking a lot about him walking around his old neighborhood . Chestnut Hill . Anybody who would like to know . He said it you know very nice place , yes . So any fans out there who are listening , if you come to boston , walk around chestnut hill and say hey I am lived around here .

Speaker 1

Oh my god well , it was so funny . When he's talking about as a kid he's like everything was so big , the tree in the yard was so big , the house was big . Yes , and I guess this is the first time he's because they didn't get to come to boston pandemic messed up , oh my god in 2019 no yeah , 2019 no 2028 , 2019 that's when it happened , right where they canceled everything or 2020 it was 2020 .

Speaker 1

Yeah , the concert was gonna be 2020 , yeah we'd gotten the tickets 2019 , like october 2019 , we were all psyched and they had to cancel it . So I think , other than this , he has not really been back to boston new . He might have done some reminiscing back then if they'd been able to come , but anyway . So yeah , he's talking about how everything was so big .

Speaker 1

Now , now he came back , he's looking , he's like wow , that's not really that big , exactly but you know , he was so cute , the kid perspective and the fact that he didn't remain there . You know , right , all he had were memories from , I think he said , when he was like four to eight years old or four to seven so you know things are bigger for you . Yeah , when you're a kid , and when you don't stay in that location and grow with it , it yeah , it completely alters it exactly .

Speaker 2

That was very cute , I feel when he said that , I'm like I completely get him and agree with him , because when I lived in my childhood home in Puerto Rico when I was a kid , I'm like God , we live in a big house . Da , da , da , da da . I go back to it and I'm like man , this house is tiny . When I was a kid , I thought everything was big . I thought the kitchen was big , I thought the living room was big . I thought everything was big . I thought the living room was . I thought everything was big . And now I go back and I'm like , yeah , this house is tiny , but it's . I mean , if I'm thinking about it as an adult living in there , I'm like I need my own place you know , but when I was a kid , we're like but everybody can live here , it's okay .

Speaker 1

But I'm thinking we're in a family of five living in that small house . Now I like think , yeah , they was . This is too small for us . So but yeah , I know the house I grew up in , completely my sister . I don't even have a room anymore . When we go to visit our parents , oh geez like .

Speaker 2

So I completely agreed with him and you know kind of filled that connection with him when he said that I'm like oh my god , yeah that's that's awesome yeah uh , but oh my goodness , isn't he nice . Oh , he was so nice . Of course him as a performer is . Oh , it was such a lovely night it was .

Speaker 1

It was very intimate . Yes , because it was a small venue . Yes , you know , by most venue standards um uh , it was the the royal just to let people know where we went boston , boston it was a nice night too .

Speaker 2

I mean , it was warmish , but nothing .

Speaker 1

Well , it drizzled a little , but yeah , it was okay but this was lucky this was also his first date in the united states yeah , or north america , because he is actually going to be in toronto so he's going to canada for so his north american leg of the tour yes this was the the first date , so that was exciting for us , because we're like .

Speaker 1

so , like you know , yes , I , I love when we're the first stop . Yeah , it can be good and bad , because you're like , yeah , we're the first stop . Yeah , it can be good and bad because you're like , yeah , we're the first impression you get and hopefully we made a good one .

Speaker 2

Well , you know , I'm like I yelled out welcome home and this person will offend . They're like , I'm like oh yeah , copy me . Copy me . I said welcome home first .

Speaker 1

I Anyways yeah , Because nobody was saying welcome home , come yeah , because nobody was saying welcome home , come on . Well , I think people , you know it was one of multiple homes . He's lived a lot of places , yeah .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

He moved around a lot . He did Well , you know , because his dad , but he , I think , I think it speaks volumes that he did come back and that he played Boston . Yeah , because he could have done like everybody else Just go to New York , completely .

Speaker 2

Blow us . Just go to New York and blow us off . Exactly .

Speaker 1

But I think that that probably means he wasn't , because I think we talked about it once before , maybe not in the podcast , but I was like you never hear him talk about Boston . I was like so , did he have a miserable time here ? But apparently he didn't , because he even was listing names of people . He was like I had friends , these people who made an impact on my life , and he listed them . And he was like I had friends , these people who made an impact on my life , and he listed them . And he's like I wonder what they're doing . I was like if you should have like gone around see if you could find their old houses , knock on the door , hi they're gonna be like who are you ?

Speaker 1

you know but , being boston , it's not suggested . Yeah , exactly , oh my God , but you know .

Speaker 2

Yeah , do you want to see ? The merch table was Skimping . I think I was surprised it was merch , but then when we got to the table we're like , oh yeah , there was only a t-shirt and a pullover hoodie . Yeah .

Speaker 1

And I think the shirts were . They only had medium and large . Yeah , and the hoodie was only small and medium no , I think the t-shirt was small and medium and the hoodie was medium and large no , no , it was definitely the t-shirt , because I was going to get a t-shirt , but then by the time I got through the line , oh , they were already sold out of large oh okay , no , I just saw the .

Speaker 2

I saw the size and I'm like I ain't doing none of that goodbye .

Speaker 1

Well , I was like I could , I could get the shirt , I can get the shirt , but they ran out before I got there and I think that probably from his european leg of the the tour , that they maybe just didn't think people would buy that much I don't know , you know , I mean it's it could be costumes yeah , it could be like I don't know yeah , we don't , but

Intimate Solo Concert Experience

Speaker 1

we don't . We're not blaming this on him , we just know .

Speaker 2

No , no company that is , you know , doing the tour . You know merch was up , but you know well , they're thinking if you want merch , you need to go to his online . Yeah , his his website . Well , that's how a lot of them happen , yeah .

Speaker 1

You know there have been several shows we've gone to Right . Remember there was one I was ordering while we were at the show .

Speaker 2

Oh yeah , oh yeah , they said we cannot have this merch table . There's so many people around .

Speaker 1

Because of the amount of people and the venue , being that small , and it's because they underestimate , of course and the venue being that small , and it's because they underestimate , of course , as always , but anyways , yes , this was .

Speaker 2

It was a very intimate , intimate setting it was .

Speaker 1

It was nice . Yes , I would say really , because we didn't even . We were like we're not gonna fight the crowd , we're not , oh no , and we didn't have to , because we could still see him very clearly . Yeah , it's a great venue . The sound was really good too . Oh yeah , I was surprised actually , because it's not always good in places like that , but sound was good , so we were able to chill and relax and just enjoy ourselves . Nobody blocking our view .

Speaker 2

The crowd was really good . They were not hectic like the last k-pop show we went to that we were like the hell , very unrowdy that those fans , I'm like what in the world ? Like you , you never come out for a k-pop show at all . I don't know what will anyways , but then I'm thinking different generation than this generation .

Speaker 1

Well , and also this is a solo as opposed to the group , because when we've seen , you know , when we saw him with monster x , like holy oh yeah molly , that crowd was like insanity , oh yeah .

Speaker 1

So this is , this is a little different , and I think even even fans of Monsta X who listen to IM , I think that probably there are people who are like , oh , this isn't quite my style , because his music solo is very different . It's amazing , it's really good . But I think he focuses more on his voice and more on his personal feeling and mood that he wants to express . Right , it's more , all right , not more . It's a little more subdued .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Like you were saying , he still has , you know , trap beat EDM sound . Because we did in fact talk about this because , of course , we were at the show , so we had to talk about it prior to this anyways , but so we were discussing the music he has some , some tunes , and it's like you .

Speaker 2

Oh yeah , I was swimming oh yeah I was like swaying , I'm like yeah , yeah , but it's not it's not the dance music , it's not the the hyper in your face , in your face sound like monster x's .

Speaker 1

So he was . He was doing more the swaying and , oh my god , I love that , I'm like , I'm swaying with you baby .

Speaker 2

Yeah , exactly , he had like one , like that yeah because when he swayed , I swayed and it was like I'm dancing with you , even though you're like really far away , but it doesn't matter , because I'm imbibing you , you know right , but that's what I mean .

Speaker 1

So the music's more personal . Yeah , as a soloist , he , I think , wants to be more engaged with the audience and the fans .

Speaker 2

It's definitely a very intimate concert because of the volume and the energy that his music , his solo music , is it , yeah , it gave me .

Sultry Concert Experience

Speaker 2

Even though there were hundreds of people there , I just felt like he was just singing to me .

Speaker 1

You ever have moments that you're like wow you know , I mean , there were a couple of times I think he's looking right at us , right . Right , I was like , I think , because we did actually stand in a way that we were more conspicuous than the rest of the crowd .

Speaker 2

Exactly Because we were like . I purposely wore that bright pink shirt for a reason Everybody was wearing , like black and gray , and maybe some sparkles .

Speaker 1

Well , I had those silver sparkly guitars .

Speaker 2

I was wearing just shocking pink because I'm like I'm gonna stand out , boo , because you're gonna see me , and of course I thought I was gonna be the tallest one there . Oh , my god , that lady , there was really tall .

Speaker 1

You're like , dang it , always the tallest one in front of me and I'm not even like up front in the crowd .

Speaker 2

What I like about this fan is like she knew very well that she was tall , so she stayed , stand back . She's like I'm fine back here , I don't need to be up to the side and everything .

Speaker 1

Actually , what was funny is we were near some lounge chairs . Yes , we'd been hanging out in them prior to the show starting . Yeah , we were hanging out with a bouncer , you know security .

Speaker 2

Whatever he was like asking , the time is like what time is he's asking the time ?

Speaker 1

he's like what you know you guys ready for the show ? Is this guy popular ? You know I I got the impression he wasn't real right familiar with I am as an artist .

Speaker 2

These bouncers don't know who's playing in there , so was like he was chill .

Speaker 1

He was awesome . No , he was cool , but it was funny because people and nobody asked you , they asked me if it was okay . It was like everybody approached me to be like is it okay if I sit in the seat for a minute like it was my chair ?

Speaker 2

yeah , to be maybe because I actually was like my legs were touching the chair , like you were guarding . It's like I'm staying here because if there's a moment that I need to sit down , I'm gonna be sitting down . Which ? I did you know ?

Speaker 1

yeah you were more like up more , you know well I'd sit when he went to go his you know , go do his uh costume changes . I'd sit down for a minute . But it was just . It was so funny because like four or five people asked permission to sit in the chair .

Speaker 2

Can I sit in the chair ? For my back hurts . Everybody said the same thing . My back hurts and I'm like , yeah , because you made the mistake to be standing there online to be up close . Then then you're like , oh , my God , I can't stand this anymore . And then you're like , OK , I need to go sit down . I mean for that venue . In my opinion , you really don't need to be there at the crack of dawn .

Speaker 1

Well , if you want to be up front , you do . I mean , that's why people do that because they want to be right up front , yeah .

Speaker 2

So I mean , it is the way . That is the layout . It's perfect . Wherever you are at , you're able to see the band , yeah , and the group whoever's out there . You know , we saw him perfectly well because the .

Speaker 1

The stage is set up high enough , yes , that you can see over the crowd exactly . I think even if we'd been closer , other than if that tall girl had stood right in front of me , right , we'd have still been able to see , right ?

Speaker 2

and , of course , they had a camera where they were also projecting him in the background right , which is also , oh my god , another plus , because , oh yeah , he was making some faces and I'm like , oh and gee .

Speaker 1

Well , he's got such an aesthetically pleasing face , oh my God . Yes , he's a very handsome young man , but the lines of his jaw , his jawline Right , yeah , he's got chiseled jawline . Okay , it's just beautiful . And he's got this . It's not perfectly straight , but it is a very as straight as you can get nose , like it just comes . I don't know it's . His facial features are like they're so defined . Yes , so it's , it's just pleasing and the way he looks .

Speaker 2

He's so sultry all the time . He has this like sultry face that you're like oh my god , I know , it's just always on , so I think it's just his face oh , that low voice though right oh , oh , my god yeah , his , his voice just sort of caresses you .

Speaker 2

It's the way that he moves over you the way he not acts , the way he uh projects and the way he talks and the way he just looks , it's like so calming . Maybe that's why you didn't hear any . Well , there was some parts , of course he did okay anyways for some of the songs you know . He oh , let's talk about his costumes . He's , oh , my god .

Speaker 1

So he comes in with this like denim , leather and studs yes , sparkly studs jacket and the , the jeans with the double belt , yes . And what around the knee ?

Speaker 2

maybe right , yeah , like knee from the knee down it was sparkly with leather and whatever . Oh , part of it was mesh yes he has some peekaboo going on in there .

Speaker 1

Yes , peekaboo leg , but then later on I think he made it through one song before we both at the same time looked at each other and was like is that a mesh shirt ? Exactly ?

Speaker 2

Because , of course , at the beginning of their songs it's like he's just singing , not doing much arm movement . So you couldn't see what's underneath the jacket Until at one point he just brings his arms up and we're like , oh , hello , mesh shirt , whoa , but we did . I looked at each other , we were like I'm hating sarah . Like wait a minute . Mesh shirt . Yes , I'm like , take off the jacket , take off the jacket .

Speaker 2

It took him like three songs because you know , slowly you can't be like bringing it out , you know he needs to build up the anticipation . Well , you know , slowly you can't be like bringing it out , you know he needs to build up the anticipation .

Speaker 1

Well , you know , I I couldn't really see the bottom part of his pants either until he sat on that stool Right and lift up . When he brought his leg up and I was like , oh meshy , sparkly .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I mean yeah , but let me tell you those jeans midsection .

Speaker 1

It's a good thing we're talking about a 30 year old man .

Speaker 2

Omg , yeah , omg . All I can think of like , uh , back in the day , tom jones , yeah , that those pants , they knew exactly where they had to be tightened . I was like , wow , hello that is yeah , that was really nice well , you know .

Speaker 1

And of course , everything's fitted for him . These are his costumes , this is his , you know at one point . So they like I'm getting too hot .

Speaker 2

Let's take this jacket off and here we go gancho , pow , wow , the man's been working out and , omg , oh my god , perfect arms , perfect arms . Oh , and of course , that measured jeez left a little to imagination . You're like why ?

Speaker 1

do you have that on ? Just to get ? Oh , and I we forgot to say too he actually had a band playing with him I mean flurry band , you did good .

Speaker 2

But I know the first thing that came out was the band . We're like oh , we got a band . Yay , I completely , completely forgot about the band .

Speaker 1

Here we go yep , no , he had a four-piece accompanying band . Yes , uh , keyboard , bass , drums and guitar and they were . They were awesome too . They were , you know , and because , like musically , when when you're listening to the albums , he has those edm beats , he's got some techno , he's got so like you don't really think of it as being right , something you'd need a band with . So it's really awesome that he did have a band , exactly I , I really like that added to the intimacy of it . Yes , because it made it the music more personal and more accessible to you . You were like it's not just a backtrack , yeah , he's singing over , he's actually working with other artists to create a mood and an ambience . Oh , it was great . Yeah , and the drummer was a cutie pie .

Speaker 1

Oh my god , he was so cute so he was your fave yeah , the bassist was amazing oh , my god the drummer was a cutie pie , but he was so funny so I was too blindsided by it .

Speaker 2

But just only I am , because I'm just like I love you .

Speaker 2

Well , we had the band out there for like 10 minutes before he came out I know , but then I had plenty of time to look and you know yeah so , yeah , the band which was really cool , and uh , actually I have the name of the of the band members . Oh , okay , okay , so for bass we have park junwoo , on uh keyboards we have shing ye chan , uh guitars was choy won suk , and for drums , your fave Kim Seo Jung . So now , but there you go . Now you know , mr .

Speaker 1

Kim for you . There's a lot of Kims . We love our Kims . Right , we love our Kims . We love our Kims they had a pen pal who's kim ?

Speaker 2

when I was younger . Oh , there you go . I have a kim thing since the beginning . There you go , since the beginning but yeah , so he .

Speaker 1

I just , yeah , I was blown away by his vocals . He is so good live . Yeah . Again , that smaller setting , the intimate setting , I think , really helps he . He was very comfortable up even though he's so close to the audience . Some people get a little freaked out by the way our venues are set up . People are in your face . There is no barrier , there's no separation . Your audience is right there with you . But I think he was very comfortable with moving around and you know how close everybody was .

Speaker 2

It was awesome .

Speaker 1

If he was nervous , he didn't show it .

Speaker 2

I think , like I said , because he was home .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

He was in Boston . You know , it was like it didn't feel , in my opinion , like any other tour date or any tour stop . It's just , I'm home and I'm just going to sing with my friends . Yeah .

Speaker 1

A nostalgic night . Yeah , a nostalgic , moment , yeah , like something else you can add to the memories of Boston .

Speaker 2

He was so sweet . He's like if anybody needs water , please let us know . I'll have security , bring you water , and of course there's they . Gotta be a fan in my head . I'm going . I'm sure you're thirsty for something else than just water you don't need water . It's not whatever , but he's but he was like oh security , please can you bring her water . He was so cute .

Speaker 1

I'm like oh well , and that's what's so funny , too right he is , we've already said such a handsome young man . So you , you know sometimes this . Just you blindly say , oh , someone that good looking , he's got to be a little arrogant he is so not no arrogant . He is so sweet , he's so chill and he's so engaging and , like I mean , he asked us are you having fun ? Is everybody okay ? Yeah , are you guys enjoying this ? You know , he was just yeah , so chill , so cool .

Speaker 2

It's just like you're seeing your body out there . But even though they're like , yeah , you know , yeah , it was so , it was just he wasn't .

Speaker 1

He wasn't like . I mean , he did make one comment when he was taking off the jacket . He's like this is what you wanted , right ? Oh no , because he knows the audience , but it wasn't . It wasn't an arrogant thing , it wasn't like . He's like hey , I know what you all want .

Speaker 2

No , he was just like yeah , because he took the jacket off and showed that shirt . Well , he started to grab the lapels of the jacket and the crowd went crazy and he was like yeah , is this what you want ?

Speaker 1

the poor guy he is . Yeah , he's not shallow , but his audience is yeah we can't .

Speaker 2

Yeah , yeah , oh , my god , I'm looking at pictures to my . I'm just kidding , I'm just , oh , my God , I'm looking at pictures to my .

Speaker 1

I'm just kidding . I'm just kidding .

Speaker 2

It's just like amazing , just want to look at so the other outfit he had .

Speaker 1

Let's see . Well , there was the suit that was .

Speaker 2

Yeah . So , of course , to give him a break , they always do the I want to say the obligatory video montage where they show him . Oh , here we go . Yes , daddy , look at that .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , oh yeah , when he was sitting on the chair .

Speaker 2

Yeah , look at that face . Look at that face . No , I know that's what I mean .

Speaker 2

I'm like telling people look at that face . I'm like did you panic ? We can't see that . I don't know if I'm gonna be showing any of these pictures . I I will . I do have a friend that it couldn't go , but uh , I will show pictures to her . But yes . So after the mini video montage he wore this awesome black suit that I mean the couture it was . I like the way it was designed , because the back looked like it was supposed to be like cocktailsattails , but they were like , not really , they were kind of like scooped it was , bias , cut , like asymmetrical it was .

Speaker 1

So yeah , it had the impression like there was coattails at the back . Only it didn't . It wasn't both sides .

Speaker 2

It was like rounded , and then even around his hip .

Speaker 1

It was rounded here . It came down lower on one side though .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

So it had that asymmetrical look and it wasn't a traditional button-up suit jacket either .

Speaker 2

No , I was trying At the front . Unfortunately I didn't took because it was so dark I couldn't take a proper picture of it , but I do like the shoulders . They came out more out square to give him that v . Look that you know yeah , like a down triangle yeah yeah , oh my god , he looks so like swag , so swag , so money . So oh , that suit , I love that suit . He looks amazing . Do you have a better picture of that one ?

Speaker 1

yeah , so see how it buttons on the like far his right hand side . So it's got an overlap , but you see how it's it's higher up on his left hip and right lower and it's also it's cut sort of uh angular at the front too yeah sort of a zigzag kind of top at the front yeah yeah , I mean it's , it's an amazing suit , yeah , it's just a beautiful look and it it really again , because you know , it's his touring outfit .

Speaker 2

They've got it cut perfectly for him , but if you see , not just only his suit was a uh change , but also his hairstyle . It was more sleek , back more sleek , not more , not poofier , like from the beginning he had some lift . This is more huh , you know , like more subdued . Exactly . I'm going on a date . You know I'm going out with my boo .

Speaker 2

You know this is uh , this was definitely the boyfriend outfit oh yeah , this is like we're going on a date Nice , the first one was the bad boy you met at the club , uh-huh

Artist's Versatile Concert Experience

Speaker 2

.

Speaker 1

The second outfit was the . He wants to impress you now , going to take you out wine and dine you a little Mm-hmm .

Speaker 2

The next look because , of course , after that he did another costume change , Mm-hmm , and we brought back the bad boy , Because this is a vest Again . This time he's just like I'm just going to bring out the guns , I'm not going to hide them anymore . This was another jean . Look , right .

Speaker 1

Yeah , denim , and the pants were sort of like a camo , but they had solid panels on the side Right . So like camo cargo pants . Right , some peekaboo going on in there too . They were more baggier yeah , and he had you know like maybe a bandana or two hanging off of him and camo resembled like a deconstructed raver pants .

Speaker 2

Yeah , they were all like patchy and whatnot yeah , he was wearing a denim vest , you know like a denim jacket that you take . You know the cut the sleeves off , yeah , so he can just show off the the arms , yeah , that were just like a wonderful but the music was really good too .

Speaker 1

Yes , Just hearing his listening to his voice . He is just so smooth , so smoky , so gentle , but like energetic and rough . You know what I mean ? He's got this complete dichotomy going on . You're like oh , I want to dance , but it's not dance music , and I want to just move to dance , but it's not dance music and I want to just move .

Speaker 2

And for these outfit he was doing the more quicker beats , right . Songs , uh , which it was perfect , because there was a few that he was doing what he does very , very well . The rapping , because there was some , uh , some of his showcasing his , oh , his rapping . Oh my god . I'm looking at pictures and going crazy . But also , oh my god , which song . There was one song that he just bust out a move and everybody was going crazy . He takes his vest off and he just goes off , go to town . We're like what it was crazy that it was . That's when he said I know that's what you want , you want to bring out the sexy . Why you always like the sexy .

Speaker 2

And we're like honey . You just blindsided us with this . It was boom , it was all like mellow and whatever . And yes , you have some peekaboo here and there .

Speaker 1

And then all of a sudden boom .

Speaker 2

You know , I was going to say I think was it for me myself and I For me and myself gonna say , I think was it for me , myself and I to me , which we sang . You know , there was a song that he had . He wanted us to participate , maybe that is the one he did .

Speaker 1

He did a couple little hip , he did a and they weren't big like they weren't . He did do some big movements earlier but when he did those subtle ones like I don't know , for me those little subtle ones are always more powerful , because they sort of just come out of nowhere . Oh yeah , like the big gesture , you know they're gonna do it , because like they almost wind up for it . But like right , he did a couple of things where it just took me by surprise .

Speaker 2

I was like , oh , the taking his hand down , his chest on his belly , almost getting there .

Speaker 1

The thirst trap .

Speaker 2

He knew yeah I'm like why are you doing that ? Why ? That's why I was like oh , mg . And then the slight body rolls oh , my god , yeah , but the one , you know what I'm talking about . For some reason they blacked out the band . There was this spotlight coming from overhead and he just started busting a move where he just I'm like oh , here we go . This is the part where everybody's going to go crazy and maybe take something off . He didn't take anything off , he just moved like there was no tomorrow . But when he finished the song with that drum , boom , boom and the arm b'm , like oh , nice , yeah , it was like oh , it was so lovely , he gave us surprises . Yeah , he , you know , he gave us surprises , but a lot of talking and a lot of intimacy with his fans .

Speaker 1

You know , it's just a pleasant all overall experience . Just , yes , it didn't feel hectic and frantic , you know what I mean . You weren't right , people weren't pushing and shoving , it was just , I don't know , like everybody was just having a good time , like we were at a cocktail party hanging out , you know we're gonna mingle around and talk to everybody .

Speaker 2

Everybody was , yeah , everybody was cool , like you said . People are like hey , do you mind if I sit on the seat ?

Speaker 1

you know , yeah , it was like nobody . Nobody pushing past you , nobody spilling their drinks on you . I mean , it was just , yeah , you know a couple of shout outs once in a while , but like not overly rowdy , obnoxious crowd , right , people were respectful of him as an artist . He was respectful of the audience . Yeah , you know what I mean . Oh , and he gave everybody what they wanted Take a sip of water and then throw the bottle all over him .

Speaker 2

Oh yeah , he did it a couple of times there you go .

Speaker 1

Thirsty Ladies , for all the Thirsty Ladies , ladies . Well , the thursday is actually . There were a lot of guys there too .

Speaker 2

yeah , I noticed a lot of men there , that's yeah , and I don't think they were all there with girlfriends , so no , which is fine , it was cool . Yeah , it was . It was cool . Now , as we know that his background is in k-pop , would you consider this to be a k-pop tour ?

Speaker 1

No , not really Right , because his presence on stage , his performance , the band behind him , like yeah , nothing about it really screamed K-pop , and I know other artists have had bands with them . But the main focus is the boy band dancing out front and singing . It's not on the this . The band was part of what he was doing , right , and he did include them . He went over and talked to them , he introduced them and they were an integral part of how the music got presented right . It's not just this backtrack that he's singing to .

Speaker 2

I like what he's doing as a solo artist . He's like yes , I came . My background is as a k-pop artist , k-pop group , as a soloist , this is I'm disassociating myself of that . I'm a different talent . You know , I'm versatile . I can do the R&B very well , I can do the jazzy , definitely the more romantic . You know , I'm not always , I'm not only the rapper from Monsta X .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I'm not always . You know this . I'm not always . I'm not only the rapper from Monsta X . Yeah , I'm not always . I'm an artist .

Speaker 2

You know I'm a singer , I'm a songwriter , you know , so definitely this concert . If you're going into mentality of like oh k-pop , you know , because of him being in Monsta X , no , you know I am , it's not like this is not a k-pop thing .

Speaker 1

Yeah , the closest to being a k-pop thing this is is the sparkles on his costumes , that's probably it I mean , that really was that's as k-pop as it got exactly , oh wait in the the the video montage video montage , because most western artists don't do that . Yeah , more have started to , actually I've noticed , because they catch home . Hey , we can take a break .

Speaker 2

Just put a video of us doing something .

Speaker 1

You know we'll take a break well , a lot of western artists like the , the break that they took it would show like a video . Video like his was a story . It was very artistic and beautiful . Love it . Yeah , it was gorgeous , it's just like you .

Speaker 2

It's , it's like , but it's all about the show you know like . First it was the , the music on the floor and the and the roses and the petals , they know , and and him looking all romantic and maybe like oh , my goodness , you know like oh but I'm gonna break through and whatnot you know and I go out into this , but I'm prepared . I like that he's . He ends with that suit , then he's like .

Speaker 2

I'm prepared , and I'm sharp , and I'm this and I'm whatever , and then he comes out with that suit sharp and looking fresh and it's like , oh , I'm cheap . Yes , so definitely love that the video goes with the music that he's portraying , not the rapper , not on your face kind of thing .

Speaker 1

I'm just like hopeless romantic , jazzy and whatnot , and well , the open field , and then the wind blowing and , yes , rustling his hair around and , yeah , it was part of what was going on . Yes , a continuation of everything .

Speaker 1

So it was just , it was really . The whole presentation was just very beautiful , very engaging and inviting and comforting , all at the same time . Like you were like really just didn't feel like you were at a show , right , because he , he was not being the you know the larger than life artist up on stage , he was being him . You know what I mean . Like I don't know . It was just such a good feeling , it was such a a memorable show like this is one of the first you know , I think , because it's not inundating you with flashy and bright lights and explosions .

Speaker 2

So I didn't have amnesia , I remembered exactly everything that was going on it was fed to us like , slowly and like oh my goodness he was romancing us .

Speaker 1

Yes , oh so . So it was memorable oh my god .

Speaker 2

Yes , he knew what he's doing . You know , it's like you're all my girlfriends in my head . This is what he's saying . Okay , he's not saying that , he's just you know , this is , this is a different side of him . This is you know what he wanted to do , you know ? And um , it's so funny when you said when is where is his stop , I'm like New York In my head . I'm like why you want to go , don't you ? You want to go see this again . I mean , why not ? We'll love to see this again .

Speaker 1

Come on , we'll love to see him again and I want to add I'm not disparaging , because I love those big flashy shows too , with the lights and then explosions and sparkly costumes and a hundred people dancing around on stage , but it's I remembered this because it was so subtle . But it's just because it was subtle , it was easier to keep it all in line . It just sort of flowed along . We do love our high energy , action-packed , but you leave them being like wow , what , what just happened to me ? Exactly , whereas with this you were like oh , he just took care of me for this whole show . Yes , he just held my hand the whole time and made me comfortable . Yes , and so it was awesome .

Speaker 2

Yes , so thank you .

Speaker 1

I am , yes , thank you , I am . You probably won't hear it , but but it was awesome it was just such a .

Speaker 2

So thank you IM . Yes , thank you IM . You probably won't hear it , but but it was lovely , it was , it was lovely , it was such an experience . Yeah , I'm thinking for those who know or maybe this is the first time we're getting into IM , but maybe know a little bit about the background of him being in Monsta X . If you're going to this concert thinking , oh my god , it's gonna be like monster x kind of thing , no , it's not .

Speaker 1

No he had that like 10 second bust out this is where you were like oh , there's yeah where you . You , he's showing you where he came from right . This is my background , this is what I do but he , this is more adult this is right .

Speaker 2

So , dude , this is , you know , yes , more adult , even though it was an old age

Mature Solo Artist Concert Experience

Speaker 2

show .

Speaker 1

Well , you know maybe not adult , maybe a more mature presentation . Okay , if you want to give it another name well , because , because when you say adult , like , like , young people aren't going to enjoy it or like it .

Speaker 2

You know , mature is sort of a state of mind Only those who are younger that know the background and know very well and actually love their music or love him as an artist , will enjoy this , but others who do not know the background and thinking , oh my God , it's going to be like a K-pop show . No , it's not .

Speaker 1

It's not , it's not a K-pop show . No , it's not . It's not .

Speaker 2

It's not a K-pop show , no , it's more adult . I'm sticking with my word . You keep your mature Anyways .

Speaker 1

Well , because I feel like it's putting a limit on who can enjoy it . You don't have to be an adult to enjoy it . You just got to remember where it is in the place of . It's not k-pop , this is a show . This is a presentation .

Speaker 2

This is a solo artist I don't know many youngsters who are very into jazz or r&b and you know they're out there I know , but I don't know many , but for those who just you know , I might , but anyways well , but if you love I am .

Speaker 1

You grew up in a background of all of that .

Speaker 2

I grew up in a background of all of that great , but there's not many like that , but so so we were mature .

Speaker 1

I was going to see jazz shows when I was 14 , that's great because your family were very cultural involved , you know .

Speaker 2

But those who are not , and just getting into this they're like oh , this is not like , alright , alright , alright , we can always agree my friend , we cannot always agree well , like I said , adult makes it seem like you must be over 30 to enjoy this . That's what .

Speaker 1

I think when you say adult , it is , you must be of a certain age to enjoy it . And I'm just so , I'm saying it's mature .

Speaker 2

So for kids who are more on a level of you know , if you're under 18 or under 20 , I think it's going to be a little bit boring for you if you're looking more into a K-pop thing .

Speaker 1

Well , if you're looking into K-pop , yes .

Speaker 2

If you know , but if you are an IM fan from , if you're 15 or whatever , hey , this is your show . Yeah , you know already the music , you already know what kind of music it is . You know what you're gonna get out of this . Got it , got it , got it all right .

Speaker 1

see , all right for those teenagers who like jazz , hey , um , yeah , that's awesome but yeah , so anyone who's just like well , it's , I am from monster x , so I gotta check it out . No , you're not gonna get what you think exactly unless you're very familiar with I am's music solo .

Speaker 2

This is just I am . You know , he has already made his solo , you know career um a few years ago . Yeah , so yay , oh yeah , I want to see him again . I want to see him again .

Speaker 2

Next up will be oh , new york will be on august 10th , oh , that's today that is today and then toronto will be on the 15th , uh , chicago the 17th , then houston on the 23rd , dallas on the 25th , then the 27th will be vancouver he's going back to canada , then berkeley on the 29th and ending in in Los Angeles on the 31st of August . And then he'll do his Asian tour , where he'll be going to Taipei , tokyo , bangkok and Macau .

Speaker 1

Is it Vancouver Canada ? Or Vancouver , washington , no Vancouver .

Speaker 2

Canada . Okay , oh , now you're going to be second-guessing me . It's just saying Vancouver , oh . Hmm , then that's Canada . Okay , oh , now you're going to be second guessing me . It's just saying Vancouver , oh .

Speaker 1

Then that's probably Canada . Yeah , yeah , that's probably just Canada , because I think there's a Vancouver . I'm pretty sure there's Vancouver , washington . So I was like if he's on the West Coast , he could be Instead of Seattle . He might go to Either way . I'm not going to be at the show seattle he might go to .

Speaker 2

Either way , I'm not gonna be at the show , so come on millions , I won't be .

Speaker 1

I know , you know , I played the lotto for that and I got nothing not even a freebie oh man but anyways , I I bought another ticket for the next job , so we'll see uh , anyways so some of these dates may have already happened by the time this is out , but if you have the opportunity to see him , if you are going to see him , you are in for a treat . Oh man , it is like just beautiful from start to finish .

Speaker 1

Yes , he is a wonderful , wonderful person , wonderful everything Because , yes , we talked about the costumes and how he looks , but musically and just the feeling you get from his interaction with the audience is just such a good healing feeling . You just like you're sort of in this magic bubble for a little while .

Speaker 2

It was just awesome entertainment . It was just an entertainer , that was just awesome , because the whole thing just transitioned .

Speaker 1

You know , yeah , it was just smooth the whole . Yes , that's why I'm saying like you're just in this little bubble for for the whole hour and a half , being like , hey , nothing else matters , nothing else is happening . You're in this moment and it's wonderful , it's enjoyable and entertaining all at the same time . Just wonderful , you're in for a treat .

Speaker 2

Yes for sure , oh yes . So for those who got vip , oh my god , congratulations yeah no , kidding man , because that was a whole brouhaha here .

Speaker 1

It wasn't just for Boston either . Oh , really it happened In another date . Yeah , people in Texas were talking about it and several people were talking about it . That's unfortunate . So that's on the entertainment group . That was handling that .

Speaker 2

Whoever was dealing with the tickets ?

Speaker 1

Yep .

Speaker 2

A-X X S , you suck Majorly .

Speaker 1

At this point , none of them are any good . No .

Speaker 2

Anyways . Okay , we leave it like that because we know we can go on a rant on tickets .
