Ever felt like buying concert tickets was as intense as competing in the Hunger Games? Join us as we recount our nail-biting experience trying to snag tickets for J-Hope's concert, even with a BTS ARMY membership in hand. The ticket-buying chaos was a testament to the fierce competition and eye-watering resale prices that often deter true fans. Yet, we hold onto optimism, with the ONE OK ROCK concert in Boston on the horizon, a beacon for our live music dreams.

Tune in as we celebrate the vibrant landscape of Japanese music and entertainment. We're bursting with excitement over Snow Man's upcoming tour and their skyrocketing album sales, while the announcement of Travis Japan's travel variety show sparks our wanderlust. Also, Fuma Kikuchi's exclusive fan events have us brimming with anticipation, and the GOT7 comeback concert to promote "WINTER HEPTAGON" should be exhilarating. We're rooting for more opportunities for international fans to share in these electric experiences.

Venture back to the gritty charm of 1970s New York City as portrayed in pop culture, complete with personal anecdotes and a sprinkle of humor. Films like "Summer of Sam" painted a picture of a city fraught with chaos, while the music of El Gran Combo evokes memories of that era's unique atmosphere. Our tales of navigating the city's streets through the years reveal a place transformed, and deeply lovable. We wrap up with our usual antics and welcome you to share your own "tales of the city"

Ticket Troubles and Upcoming Concerts

Speaker 1

Hello everybody , welcome back to another episode of Music Elixir with me , sarah and Miss Panic . Just Miss Panic , just Miss Panic . Alright , Alright . So what are we going to do today ?

Speaker 2

It's a Ransom Rambling . It has been quite quiet for the beginning of the year . Yeah , you know , so far so good , because , of course , december , november , october I know I don't know , there were some dumpster fires , yeah yeah , definitely and it kind of was not much on the like oh my god , kind of like news . There had been more congratulatory and announcements and yeah , comebacks and yeah comebacks .

Speaker 2

So more of a happy new , happy news which we're about time I know well , we're gonna be griping about one because , miss sarah , she tried to get tickets for J-Hope .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I attempted because you know , I do have my BTS ARMY membership . So I was like I'm getting in there on this presale and oh my God it was just like tooth and nail .

Speaker 1

It was awful . I just Hunger Games . Yeah , I was there , I was ready , had my thing all up and going , I had the tabs for both nights . I was all set , waiting , waiting , waiting , and they pop up that you know , join the waiting room . Because now they don't just make you wait until the tickets go on sale at 3 . They have you line up in a queue and whatever . So the little announcement came join the waiting room . I'm like all right . Like three seconds it took me to move my cursor , click on it to join and it just sort of spins and spins and spins .

Speaker 2

You're getting the wheel of death like what the heck is going on I was like I don't know what happened .

Speaker 1

And then it's like , all right , you're in the waiting room . Oh okay , cool , cool . So I went to the next date , joined the waiting there . I should have probably clicked on it faster , but I was like what's going on ? Because I thought maybe it was going to crash on me , anyway , yeah . So finally the queue opens up . It's like all right , you're getting into queue . And it's thinking again I was like oh , you've got to be kidding me . And it pops up you're number 10,012 in queue and I was like , oh , that's not good . I was like the venue's only 19,000 , that's not good . So everybody's allowed to buy up to four tickets . I think I'm shit out of luck and uh , but I waited it out . But it was worse for the . That was a Thursday night show in Brooklyn and the Friday night show when I finally got into the queue with that 74,112 .

Speaker 1

I was like oh , I am not getting tickets Exactly .

Speaker 2

That's just like I'm giving up .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I was like I'll hold out a little J-Hope for tickets for Thursday . I was like , but that was just , it was a long shot . I was like if you weren't 4,750th in line , you weren't going to get tickets . It's basically if everybody bought the max and that's how you were done , so I would say anyone 5 000 or back . We were all just exactly twiddling our thumbs , wasting our time .

Speaker 1

But exactly , so I was and I was saying , though , like with sugar , it sort of went the same way . I did the . You know , I had the thing . I was like , oop , join the waiting room . I went right in and I was like 3,000 in that . We got tickets , no problem , and I mean that sold out too , but J-Hope forget it . It was like the whole world was trying to get those tickets and I was commiserating with other fans . I was like who got J-Hope tickets ? And then , two lines down , three lines down , I was like not me . And some girl sent a screenshot . She was $64,000 for Thursday nights .

Speaker 1

She was like $64,000 . I said , oh man , I was like I was $10,000 and I got nothing . And she's like , oh , she did the same thing , though she stuck it out just hoping , but like yeah by the time I got nothing , nothing , nothing .

Speaker 1

And then it was like , oh wait , there's these premium seats for 600 bucks each . I was like , um , okay , no , I can't afford 600 , for in like the very next day up on other sites , tickets for sale , tickets available for three times the cost of the nosebleeds , because the cheapest seats were like $73. , yeah , I don't know for sure because I didn't get in to look at any of them , but they claimed the range was , you know , 73 to 919 .

Speaker 1

119 and uh , yeah , the tickets on sale on these other websites now are three times what the cheap seats were . So I'm again assuming those are the nosebleeds , which still would be okay , but not for 200 bucks each .

Speaker 2

No that's ridiculous , you know or more .

Speaker 1

I mean , yeah , it was more than 200 bucks each , that's just it still going to be more because of the fees . Yeah , exactly , they tackle like what , how many fees ?

Speaker 2

And then it will be like from like $78 to , yeah , $200 . No , no , no , that's just so . That's crazy .

Speaker 1

We love J-Hope , but we also like to eat . Pay our rent .

Speaker 2

We got to pay rent , have gas money . Exactly , we're like okay .

Speaker 1

Next I need to be able to get gas money to get to work , to make money for tickets , exactly .

Speaker 2

So we're just not going to go see J-Hope . That is fine , but 1OK Rock is coming to Boston , yes they are , so for me that's a silver line . But we got to wait to see if we get tickets , because 1k rock is getting , yeah , really popular yes like selling out arenas in some places , stadiums and stuff . I'm like , yeah , let's , let's hope , because the funny thing is like they went from the Boston House of Blues to like the .

Speaker 2

Boston Fenway MGM , which is a little bigger and it's just like right next door the venues are like you know , across the street . So we're going to aim for VIP .

Speaker 1

Yeah , we're hoping , yeah , so we're aiming for that , you know .

Speaker 2

But if we don't at least just choose the regular show , you know it's gonna be as good oh yeah , absolutely wonky rock live is so awesome . They are incredible , they are awesome .

Speaker 1

So can't wait to see and actually they've to see them being coming to boston , which is awesome because , yeah , the first time we went to see them , we had to go to New York yeah , previously there were a lot of New York shows and then they started coming to Boston .

Speaker 2

I think they played at the Paradise .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I was gonna say we saw them at the Dinky Paradise that was an intimate show yes , it was my birthday and we had a snowstorm . While we were in the venue , some sort of blizzard moved in because we went in . It was cold , yeah , you know . But we got in the venue , we came out , there was like five inches of snow . We're like , oh , should we go ?

Speaker 2

Your sister kept texting you should get a hotel , stay over , you should stay over . You know she's like don't drive in this thing . And I think we're like , we're committed , we are on our way .

Speaker 1

Man , that was bad , it was that was so bad yeah , well , and that's sort of , though , the saga of a lot of our yeah I'm like white knuckling on that 90 on the pike , I'm like , oh my God .

Speaker 2

And then people , of course , you just got to go like 50 , 70 miles an hour . I'm like dude .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

You freaking a-hole . You know how ? Can you damn see , I mean , and they're like tracking snow on top of your car because they're going so fast .

Speaker 1

Well , and they hadn't .

Speaker 2

They hadn't started doing anything to the roads , so it was just awful the funny thing is that we were seeing the plows going toward boston and we're like no , you should be on this side going west . I'm like dang it that was a white knuckle ride . Yes , that was crazy . We were all awake . We were all awake , oh my God . Wait . You know , when you live in New England , this is suspected . You need to be prepared for this type of weather ?

Speaker 1

Yep .

Speaker 2

But it was .

Speaker 1

We weren't prepared for that one . That was a complete surprise . No , yeah , it's just like we weren't supposed to get anything and it's sort of you know , the wind changed direction and the storm blew into boston instead of going out lower down across like rhode island , you know , yeah , we're like dang it so you know um , it's gonna be on a sunday in april , that's cool .

Speaker 2

So I'm like no , no , it's june , june .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , yeah , june , sorry , yeah , june I was like , wait , no , it's , it's in june , it's in june okay , maybe I'll stay in boston that day .

Speaker 2

I don't know , maybe I have a long week . I don't know , we'll see hey , so anyways .

Speaker 1

Well , I was gonna say , if you stay , I'd have to stay , so we go shopping hang out .

Speaker 2

Yeah , there's some stores over there that we can like cool . Oh , we got muji nico with luvag . Oh , you're going for them . Shoes , I cannot fit in them . Shoes , they're nice but well I guess yeah , no , it's too rich for my blood . You can do it . Your children are cats , so exactly , you don't have to waste that much money .

Speaker 1

Actually they're expensive too but they're getting , they're getting up there yeah , but usually when I buy flu vogs it's the sale one , so it's less damaging than oh they're still , they're not too bad .

Speaker 2

Meanwhile I'm like , okay , if you say so , the the Lulu person here and I'm counting the numbers and I'm like let's see two weeks worth of groceries over there and gas .

Speaker 1

It's like Doc Martens are like that too . You know , I know it's bad but they last , so do Fluvox , though Fluvox lasts forever . That's the thing .

Speaker 2

It's a footwear , that will you . You know you maintain it . It will last forever . I mean exactly forever , but yeah , it will last , you know . So , yeah , no , that's right I got one .

Speaker 1

We could just look , you know okay , yeah , that's what they say .

Speaker 2

let's look at fluv . Ooh , look at these on sale and I'll be like , okay , go try them on Sarah .

Speaker 1

I'm a shoe addict . I can't help it .

Speaker 2

As we have said before , she does have a room full of shoes . I do Room dedicated to shoes , and they're just not just dump in there .

Speaker 1

You do have like racks and no , it's organized , they're well displayed she does , she does .

Speaker 2

But anyways , uh , moving on to concerts and stuff , there has been an announcement for one of our , you know , start those favorites yes , you know these boys so snowman announces first stadium live tour called snow world , starting in april so excited for them I know our babies and raul , of course , in this .

Speaker 2

The photo is like so chic , they all look amazing . They're wearing like this black tuxes . All of them are . Oh , they look amazing . So , uh , they made that announcement on january 22nd . I'm reading this article from tokyo hive . They're celebrating . They just celebrated their fifth anniversary girl already five years I know it's crazy just time flies .

Speaker 2

I was just talking to family and it's like man , january 25th , and then they said , yeah , christmas soon . I'm like , could you stop ? We just finished christmas . What are you ? We're not in the uh , puerto rican time because christmas never ends . They just had the uh uh san sebastián festival . Oh , saint um sebastian's festival in puerto rico .

Speaker 1

That's like a whole weekend gosh , poor sebastian , it's , it's , he had it rough it sorry but they're celebrating it in puerto rico , like there's like you know , hey , it's like anyways .

Speaker 2

So , yeah , so I'm sure there's gonna be more festivals , because then we're gonna oh , my god , what's gonna happen with new orleans ? Oh , I don't know , for you know madigra yeah , it's gonna be cold if we're gonna keep getting this cold spell .

Speaker 1

I know maybe more drinking , because people are gonna warm up with booze . Yeah , not the best idea , but yes , they will try , right , I guess .

Speaker 2

Yeah , it just depends on how swiftly this , these , uh arctic blasts move through yeah , I mean we're having a rough with the south is , yeah , state of emergency because they are not those . Yeah , those states are not equipped for this type of weather . Yeah , we will go down there like yay

Japanese Music News and Updates

Speaker 2

. I was like , oh , it's nice weather , let's put our shorts on . Meanwhile , everybody else is like , oh , and we're like walking around with our ice dunking .

Speaker 1

I know right , yeah oh my god , we did . We drink ice coffee up here all year round . Well , even I , I come over here with my ice water I put ice in my water to drive over here .

Speaker 2

I'm like I'm like , I'm okay with room temp , you know when it's this cold weather , but um yeah no no , some people do , but you know what ? There's other drinks . I do put ice in it . So yeah , I so , anyways , going back to our snowman snow world tour yes , starting april 19th .

Speaker 2

Uh , they're gonna be at national stadium in tokyo on that weekend yeah , the 19th and the 20th , and then moving on to the nissan stadium in kanagawa on june 7th and june 8th . Yay , yes , the guys are very excited about this . They actually broke record with one of their albums , which I'm just gonna look up real quick right here . So their album sold out over 1.1 million copies on the first day , securing the number one spot on the Oricon Daily Album Rankings , and this is for the best of 2020 and 2025 . Already a best of Wow .

Speaker 1

Well , you know .

Speaker 2

Right , right , that's awesome . Yeah , makes it the first album in history to reach million sales status on its debut day , since the ranking system began in 2009 . So that's awesome .

Speaker 1

Congratulations boys . I know Boys of .

Speaker 2

Snowman . There are men now . Some of them are already 30 . Except for our baby , raul Jeez . I remember when he was what 17 , when he started .

Speaker 1

Yeah , a snowman 16 ? Yeah , he was young . He was definitely very young . He was too little .

Speaker 2

Yeah , we're like the baby , the baby . But look at him now , he's in his 20s now . Oh my goodness . Yeah , hey , if you're in Japan able to see this , hey , go for it . Yeah , definitely , we just put it out in the universe and be like , hey , we would like to go either in April I'll make it June because I need to rack up some vacation time . I will not have like a week worth of vacation until April because I already might use my vacation going to Puerto Rico . Oh , yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

Well , I've got time , so anytime you're ready , I can go you probably have a lock accumulated , don't you ? Yeah , I do . They'll make me start using it again .

Speaker 2

You know how it goes oh yeah , now it's different over there , right ?

Speaker 1

yeah , they switched it up a little . What else have we got ?

Speaker 2

going on , well apparently our traja boys . So travis japan , this happens four days ago . Travis japan's new variety show just shin nihon isan premiered on january 24th a premiere already we are recording on januaryth .

Speaker 2

So this happened yesterday . Let's see , I didn't know this . Okay , now I know . So Travis Japan is set to explore Japan's hidden gems in their upcoming travel variety show , travis Japan's no Just Shin Nihon Isan , premiering on Friday , january 24 , in a Kansai local broadcast . The series will consist of eight episodes , with some scheduled breaks in february and march . What to visit me for my birthday ? Just saying no , they're not . Um , so about the show ?

Speaker 2

The program features two members of travis japan embarking on a journey each week to uncover japan's lesser-known treasures dubbed shin nihon isan . Okay , true , japanese heritage , this is cool . However , the journey is an all smooth sailing . Some destinations bring unexpected challenges . Uh , referred to as shing nihon isan tough japanese heritage , oh , all righty . So I guess to get a , they spice it up maybe with some , you know . Hey , let's challenge you to do this so we can do that , okay . So the first episode was Kaito Miyachika and Ryuya Shime Kake traveled to Kamitown , hyogo Prefecture . They explored the area with a special Shin Nihon Isan map , leading them to a unique experience . Nihon isan map . Leading them to a unique experience , including assisting local farmers in lifting the 500 kilogram legs of tajima cast cattle .

Speaker 1

What wait , they're lifting cows . Yes , they're cow tipping . No cow lifting , okay .

Speaker 2

Title for hoof care , okay . So I guess , oh wow , oh damn okay . Despite initial difficulties , the duo eventually succeeded humorously of course , recounting the the challenges after oh my god , all right , boys , you get in there and lift . Lift the cow's legs so we can fix it . That's dangerous .

Speaker 1

Because cows are unpredictable .

Speaker 2

Yes , oh my God , Okay , but they did it . So kudos , so that's kind of cool , yeah , can we see this ? No , of course .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , no , no , you'd need the special VPN stuff .

Speaker 2

And yeah to go check it out so this looks interesting and fun and awesome , something different for the boys to do . Oh , that's cool , love . So hey , you're in japan checking this out ? Please let me know , hope . I mean it will be awesome . They can put it later on in their YouTube channel so we can see that would be cool .

Speaker 1

Yeah , that would be , maybe they will , who knows ?

Speaker 2

You know , depends on the sponsors . See what's going on ? Yes , we did talk about 1OK Rocks coming back to the US . Yay , ooh , fuma Kikuchi , what's Fuma doing ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , I just saw that he's a fan club events at five ZEP venues . Ooh ooh , zep venues that's intimate because they're not that big yeah he'll hold fan club member only event called Ofukai Volume 2 , from March to May at five ZEP venues in Aichi , Fukuoka , Hokkaido , Tokyo and Osaka .

Speaker 2

Ooh , oh , my God , A night with Fuma .

Speaker 1

So apparently he'd done this . In April of last year he had held his first fan club event . Okay , and this upcoming event . He will perform a total of 18 shows at five ZEP venues and fan club members can enter the ticket pre-sale lottery , which opens , is open until january 31st so all right , we got some time , can we do this ? So yeah , so from the end of march through middle of may he'll be doing all those shows . Oh , that would be so cool , right ? Yes ? Oh man , how come we're ?

Speaker 2

not a night with fuma kum . I'm gonna do that .

Speaker 1

Oh my god volume two , two , I'd love it yeah oh my good , I like that picture they use .

Speaker 2

He's like , he looks like devilish boy , you know . Oh my god . But hey , if you're going there , go for it . Have fun with fuma .

Speaker 1

I'm over here , you know bitter well he , he's good at interacting with the fans yeah takes every , he takes everything . Well , because I've seen a couple couple of things where people are giving him a hard time and he's just like oh really , oh yeah , you thought that question was smart . Check out my smart answer .

Speaker 2

Exactly . Oh yeah , he tells you straight and narrow . You know , like you know . Fine , that's your opinion , is mine . Yeah , he got . Uh , well , of course you know they're doing the um , the new group's members .

Speaker 1

You know the auditions and whatnot and he's , then he's like I don't yeah , he's like don't talk about it'll matter for the new , these trainees .

Speaker 2

You know I don't want you . It's not acceptable that . You know , if you have to say something , you say it to me .

Speaker 1

You leave them alone well , he's like this isn't , this isn't a fan vote thing .

Speaker 2

So you know , like .

Speaker 1

We have our reasons , you know for what we decide . They know the business a little better than most of us , so they know what they're looking for . They know what they need . Yeah they knew very well , with this whole change , what was going to happen yeah because , you know , the fandom got so divided after that you know , because they'd been around for so long , they had a huge fan base and , of course , everybody you you get your favorites here and there , and things happen when groups .

Speaker 2

Yeah , some people don't like . They change when it happens to groups . They get very personal . Yes , they do Like how , how , what ? You did this to me ? How can you do this to me ? How can you ? Can you do this to me ? You broke my heart . Oh , my God , god , many years of supporting everybody , we're supporting you but you know , I mean there's definitely it's disappointing .

Speaker 1

You know you're used to something , but yeah , I like to . I like to give everybody a chance afterwards you know , check out the solo stuff of everybody . You know things change Bound to happen and we love Kenty's solo stuff .

Speaker 2

Oh my God , His solo is so good .

Speaker 1

Doesn't make us like all of the you know old sexy zone timeless stuff any less .

Speaker 2

It's just different .

Speaker 1

It's something else , and he's not even my favorite and I still support him because his music's great yeah , solo stuff's great , you know so that's good , and I'm still supporting the other guys . So shori and fuma , so you know it's it .

Speaker 2

No , it's great . Yeah , when you hear the sexy song stuff , you're like nostalgia oh my god right , it's so cute yeah , I remember this , you know . And then of course their solo stuff is like they're they're evolving as an artist , you know . Then I'm gonna repeat back a episode on uh , right on time , these sexy songs , uh episodes where fuma he did said like pray for this group to stay together .

Speaker 2

Yeah , he knew he knew very well because he's like we don't know how long we'll stay together . He was like already , and I'm like for my , for my , are you scaring me like that ? For my , I'm like , oh no , stop you know , and at the time , I think , uh , mario was , you know , doing his thing .

Speaker 2

He was out , but , no , on hiatus . Yeah , he was on hiatus , you know so . So that's why I was like , wait a minute , sounds like mario's not gonna be there . But I mean , like you know , they're always together , so they , they know , he knew . Very well . It's like , yeah , you know , we're gonna hold on to this group for quite a little bit longer , but just keep praying . Maybe you can stay a little bit more if you want to . But you know , like I said , everybody wants to do their own thing and evolve differently and , yeah , keep supporting them .

Speaker 1

They're artists , I don't know what else is going on . We're kind of good . Well , the GOT7 , nest Fest group concert .

Speaker 2

Yes .

Speaker 1

Yes For their comeback . I guess Would you call it a comeback .

Speaker 2

That's a major comeback . It's been like , isn't it like ? Three years . I read somewhere that could be yeah , Since they got together .

Speaker 1

Yeah , that's like , yeah , so that's happening in . Let's see February , right , yes , yes , so it's coming up . Jeez , I know , girl , it's like we're late for that , but it's their long-awaited comeback for the album Winter Heptagon .

Speaker 2

Yeah , yes , Also , I know we cannot comment because KCON LA I mean KCON have made an announcement for LA and Japan . No New York , no New York .

Speaker 1

How many years have we been denied ? Now ? Was that year we went the last time , or did they ?

Speaker 2

do it one more year ? Yeah , because we were going to go for a pandemic , right , right , and the only thing they did was streaming it Right .

Speaker 1

So the last time New York had a KCON was 2019 . Yeah , oh yeah , was streaming it right .

Speaker 2

So the last time new york had a kcon was 2019 . Yeah , oh yeah , and we were . That was crazy and it was awesome . I'm reading , I'm reading ex-twitter tweets from from fans . They're like why they remove kcon from new york ? I get you , I get you fan . I'm like , yeah , what is with this ?

Speaker 1

well , the east coast . We're always bitter about this stuff , yeah .

Speaker 2

Speaking of East Coast being bitter , this person here come to Florida , you know .

Speaker 1

I don't know KCON Florida doesn't have the same ring as KCON New York .

Speaker 2

Exactly Sorry . Florida , no , I'm not sorry . Who wants to go to florida for that , unless it's for disney ?

Speaker 1

well , I mean god , even the , even up here the cake on new york , it was hot oh , it was august .

Speaker 2

Yeah , no , july . July , because it was july 4th was there too , yep .

Speaker 1

Yeah , it was hot . Yeah , it was hot and steamy , so Florida would be even worse , yeah .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I mean that's like , oh , let's go to New York in the summer . No , it's just hot . It's hot . I mean I always complain about the smell , but the smell in summer in new york is worse . No , it's just it , it heightens the smell .

Speaker 1

You want to know how bad it really

Urban Decay and City Revitalization

Speaker 1

was . Watch , uh , summer of sam . Have you ever seen that movie ? No , it's based on sort of an actual event . There was some very bad crimes happening in this summer . There was a serial killer on the louis yes , oh , and it was hotter than hell and there was a garbage strike . So all of these horrible things happening at once , the the movie , it's they sort of , you know , sensationalized , fictionalized , because it's a hollywood movie .

Speaker 1

But but but , it's based on actual facts and so , just even watching the movie , I was like , oh my god , I can smell this .

Speaker 2

Like you were like , oh so yeah , you know , me and new york were like it stinks , garbage strike . Plus , let's say , if there was a murder , going around , a rotting body in the middle of the summer in New York , ah Ew , oh my God , I will be like I'm moving out , never coming back again . Oh oh Gross Actually . That thing gets beyond gross . I don't know , that's yeah . Oh gross actually that thing gets beyond gross .

Speaker 1

That I don't know . That's yeah the . The whole premise of the movie is is like bad enough because of dealing with this serial killer on loose , but like they threw in the garbage strike thing . It's like , oh my god , it was like the 70s so oh yeah , yeah that that's bad enough I think in the 70s the well , traffic is really bad over there .

Speaker 2

Uh , diesel was one of the oh diesel you know , yeah , buses and what you know that was sort of .

Speaker 1

That was sort of a rough time down in new york the 70s yeah there was so much going on in the world in general .

Speaker 2

I guess too , but like there is a song from el gran combo which actually okay , I'm gonna go back to bad bunny I don't know , because you know , bad bunny has I brought some memories from , from , you know , living in puerto rico .

Speaker 2

Anyways , there was a song , uh , which is the first song of their album , nueva yva York , and he starts with El Gran Combo . And in El Gran Combo it was talking about . You know , if you want to have a good time , you need to live a summer in New York . And I'm like I don't think so . Maybe it was cooler back in the day . No , still , this song was like in the , I want to say , late 70s early 80s .

Speaker 1

So if that was going on down there back then , like that , well , you know , like if you think about all the movies that were made during the 70s that took place in New York , yeah , everything was dingy and dark and dirty and gross and violent . So , yes , so you know , when the the new york of our youth , what we would see , yeah , was like people don't go to new york .

Speaker 1

No , it's gross . So , like I , I remember going when I was younger , like in the 80s , and it was still a little scary when I started going to to find all our you know Arashi stuff and all our Japanese artist stuff , because the only place that had stores with it was New York . I remember going down and being like , wow , okay , this isn't as bad as I remember it from my youth and you know , usually when you're a kid , you everything's always great . You don't , yeah , you don't see the bad of things , because it's all exciting and new . Exactly so , as a kid , you everything's always great .

Speaker 1

You don't , yeah , you don't see the bad of things , because it's all exciting and new exactly so as a kid , to have been like this place is scary , like when I finally went back I was like , oh , it's not , it's not as bad it's cleaner and it looks like it . Just I feel like they improved their image over the years , you know ? Yeah , Because , like I said , every movie you see from late 60s through the 70s you're like holy crap you're taking your life in your hands .

Speaker 2

Exactly .

Speaker 1

Right . Everything was violent and horrible .

Speaker 2

What was it the ? Warriors which show that we went . We were in New York , then it started to rain , which is for Monsta X . We were in New York for , yeah , and it was raining . Oh , no , D'Aaron .

Speaker 1

Gray , it rained , that it was just you and me .

Speaker 2

Rachel was not there .

Speaker 1

Oh , okay , then maybe it was Monsta X .

Speaker 2

Okay , I think so . Remember that it was raining and it was so , so it's like pouring rain and there was like river on the street and we're like ew . And I remember you , there was this couple there's two girls and one of them was wearing sandals . Your face of like mortified , like , oh my God , gross girl , like ew .

Speaker 1

No , no , my God , gross girl Like ew , this is no , no , no . I would not have any part of my bare foot near the pavement in any city , to be honest . So you hear , sarah , how can people wear sandals in New York so ? Gross , and then this river coming down the street , I remember , because all the stuff you know picks up , all the street garbage and all the dirt and all the you know the urine .

Speaker 2

Yes , the bodily fluids that happen during the street . Because it happens in New York , you think you're like why is the alleyway so quiet ? Oh , run , run , somebody's using that as a bathroom yes , do .

Speaker 1

Yeah , don't step near anything wet coming out of that alley .

Speaker 2

Yeah you see exactly . You see something on the floor . Go avoid jump .

Speaker 1

You don't know what that is I feel so bad for poor new york . We always , we , we have a lot of we see I know . But we have a lot of friends in new york that they're probably like why are you guys always insulting us ? Honestly , boston's gut , oh no you know , things I wouldn't wear sandals in boston no me , neither boston does have this sketch .

Speaker 1

You know , honestly any city except for maybe chicago , because chicago has some of the cleanest damn streets I'd ever like . I went there . It was almost blinding . I was like do they come out and wash the buildings at night ? Really , everything seemed so clean , it was crazy , never been there , so and it's well it was .

Speaker 1

Also . It was a Sunday afternoon , so a lot of things , or a Sunday morning sorry , a lot of things weren't open , so we were walking around with not tons of people . It was really quiet . I can't remember it was really quiet , I can't remember . It was maybe May and yeah , I was just . I was like this is so clean . You know the particular section we were in , Okay , but we were over by the river and I mean so it was like we were in the city . It wasn't like we were somewhere out , but I was like wow , like I felt like someone came out and washed and scrubbed the sidewalks .

Speaker 2

Wow , they were that clean ?

Speaker 1

No little gum spots ? No , yeah , I was like what is this .

Speaker 2

Well , actually , now that I'm thinking about , there was a section of Hartford that I went that it was fairly clean .

Speaker 1

They've cleaned up too , hartford , look at . You've cleaned up too , hartford , look at you , they cleaned up too . I'm like .

Speaker 2

Hartford wasn't too bad . It was pretty clean .

Speaker 1

Seriously , when I first came out here , yeah , like we used to joke about , you were going through Blade Runner world when you drove through Hartford Because they were doing all this work , they had all these flyovers and underpasses and it was really congested and clogged and there was always a barrel on fire in the middle of all of this stuff . So you're driving , there were no lights , no street lights , it was just dark and garbage and like a both the wreckage kind of like ew , yeah , and it was like going into Blade Runner . You were like what the who ? So we all hated going to Hartford because it was awful . They've cleaned up a lot too .

Speaker 2

Oh , okay .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

Yeah , no , for that time that we went down there and it was for 420 because it was the Bad Bunny show Bad Bunny show .

Speaker 1

yeah .

Speaker 2

But it was like yeah , show , yeah . And . But it was like yeah , no , well organized , it was clean .

Speaker 1

I was like oh , this is kind of nice , was it like the civic center or something ? Yeah , yeah , yeah , I had gone down there for , actually , for a comic-con , and I remember it was my boyfriend at the time and his friends and they were like we're gonna go to the comic-con in hartford and I was like , oh god , hartford . But then we got there I was like this is not the hartford . I remember , you know , because , right , it had been so long since I'd gone . You know , maybe 20 years ago I went and saw a show there yeah but I hadn't been recently and so we got down there .

Speaker 1

I was like , wow , this is nice . Look at how the decorative sidewalks and stuff I I was like this is nice . What happened ?

Speaker 2

So now see , see New York . If Hartford can clean up , so can you .

Speaker 1

Did you say fartford , hartford , hartford ?

Speaker 2

Oh my God , sarah , are you ready ? Oh my God , oh yeah , farford , they don't smell , though I should have called it farford .

Speaker 1

oh my god so we , we just sorry everybody , we totally went off on this tangent about because boston's number one well , we were complaining about them not doing k-con in new york . Yeah , yeah , we do , we do . Love you , new york .

Speaker 2

We do , we do you know words like that that , that that family member who's like I love you . But look at you , it's like what happened to you . You can't get a man looking like that Like , yeah , I love you too , auntie .

Speaker 1

Sarah is crying , laughing . So yeah , we're like that aunt .

Speaker 2

When it comes to New York , oh , we'll love this and that , but that smell God . There's something about that smell anyways , okay , thank you everybody for listening to this really random rants and rambling . It was very random , yes , you know if , if you want to re-review and share , share , share Go for it . Thank you If you would like to give us five stars .

Speaker 1

Because we love our constellations , because we love our constellations , not because we're insulting New York . Hey , you can be a subscriber if you want to , yeah , because then you can help us maintain this episode and all the previous we love you new york there's a love and hate relationship , you know .

Cape Hood Misunderstanding

Speaker 2

Uh , all right before sarah just keep crying away here from laughter , get dehydrated oh no , I am , I am now .

Speaker 1

I'm like , oh , I'm so tired . Oh my God . All right , thank you everybody , till next time , bye-bye , bye-bye , johnny . Johnny , I ain't street enough . There ain't no hood on the Cape , they try to have a hood . There ain't no hood on the Cape , they try to have a hood .

Speaker 2

There ain't no hood , it's just the bad part of town , so the part of . Okay , so even if you're in the bad part of town in the Cape , you're like you still live in the Cape .

Speaker 1

Yeah , that's true . That's exactly how it is .

Speaker 2

Damn Okay , thank you .
