A local Stray Kids night in Massachusetts sounded like a simple Saturday plan, then it turned into the kind of K-pop fan experience that feels like a mini concert. We talk about the dance-floor energy, the joy of being in a room full of like-minded fans, and the very real temptation of merch tables stacked with albums, photo cards, and the little items that sell out online in seconds. We also shout out the people making these events happen, including KPopMiniverse and DJ Leah Rantz, because community doesn’t appear by magic, someone builds it.

From there, we jump into full ARMY mode with our BTS comeback show reactions, including the Netflix concert hype, favorite moments, and what the staging and costumes hint about the upcoming tour. We also get real about the physical toll of performance, injuries, and how hard these shows are on the artists even when everything looks effortless from the couch.

And yes, we address the chaos: the ARMY Bomb light stick shortage, Weverse merch drop stress, and the weird emotional spiral of trying to “be prepared” when stock disappears instantly. Because we’re us, the conversation also detours into winter car emergency-kit lessons, productivity tricks powered by music, and the work boundaries you have to set before everyone decides your time belongs to them.

If you’ve ever chased sold-out concert merch, planned a trip for a stadium show, or just needed a cozy fandom-filled reset, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a fellow fan, and leave us a five-star review if you want more Music Elixir rambles like this.

Cold Open And Bad Penny

SPEAKER_00

Hello, you're listening to Music Elixir with me, Sara Sheet.

SPEAKER_01

And Miss DJ Penic, we're back at you again. Um, this is a rant penny. Yeah, it's a ransom rambling. Like a bad penny? Yeah, haven't you ever heard? You keep showing up like a bad penny. Walt, there's no more pennies anymore. They start making pennies now. So we'll see.

SPEAKER_00

Right? Yep. I don't know. It just popped into my head, so I I'd never heard of that. Really? Yeah. Back when like a penny was a big deal and they were making counterfeits, so that's what the reference is to. Oh. You show up everywhere like a bad penny. Because they were so so many counterfeits in circulation that it was like you're just everywhere.

Stray Kids Night In Massachusetts

SPEAKER_01

Wow. Yes. The first time to know. Okay. So on a last ransom rambling? On a last oh some one of the ransom ramblings we were talking about. We were going to an event locally that we were very happy to attend. We were like, what? K-pop event in Lutlow Mass? Which is not too far from us. It's like what 30 minutes?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just like two towns over. Very close.

SPEAKER_01

So we were so excited. We saw that on our Instagram. And I was like, we should go. You know, it's just it's a Saturday night. It's music that we love because it was only straight kids. It was the K-pop straight kids event. Event, yes. Um, the event hosts were had also merchandise. Oh, you know, they had the casso', they have photo cards and also lights, lights, scarves, I grabbed albums.

SPEAKER_00

I grabbed the last tote. Albums, yes. Beanies, yeah. They had a lot of stuff. A lot of merchandise that you could choose from. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Well, they had a limit on the cassoo uh keychains. Yes. I I was there. Okay, I was there for the music and the merch. Because it's so hard to find, especially the little casus, because it's like every time I go check a website, I don't slow down. Oh, you can't, and I want to grab for every member because I'm kind of like an old T eight, even though Felix is my fave. But I don't know, lately, like Chandin and you know, uh all the members are like popping up on my Instagram, just attacking me, and I'm like, mm-hmm. Name my bias record, and Sarah's looking at me like, why, why? Well, we saw that concert dominate, and they were like, Who's the beefy guy? What is the we can't recognize him because he's completely has transformed himself. Like, wow. But the event was awesome, the vibes were right. Everybody was just happy to be there, dancing, screaming to their favorite song. Oh, yeah. Oh my god, I thought I was in a concert.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say it was like being at a concert, it was like being at a show. You yeah, the excitement and the energy, everybody was just having a good time.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. No worries with their people, you know what I mean? Right. Like-minded fans who were just there to enjoy some music and some dancing and checking stuff out, so it was cool. They had to DJ spinning the songs.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Um, I want to say famously local in our area for one of the commercial radio stations here. Uh, she was doing her thing and she did amazingly.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, she did.

SPEAKER_01

So uh it I'm like, kudos to her. I'm gonna mind the am I not supposed to say her name. Her name is Leah Rantz. Oh my god, she did awesome. We got to chat with her, and uh, who was her bias, of course, of straight kids and uh how how was also her first event. So we're like, Leah, we saw your debut. What? We were on your debut as a K-pop DJ. What? That's so cool. But yeah, fun night, excitement, really cool. I can't wait for another event. I think they are as well. The name of the uh actually the host was uh Miniverse, right? K-pop miniverse, K-pop miniverse. So check them out, you can find them online. Uh, we'll probably link information on our show notes. Please check that out because I believe they were telling me that there was gonna be another event around June.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, they've been doing things little by little, little small events here and there. So they're expanding. And we got to talk with a couple of the uh shop owners.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And we were discussing all the various shows we're all going to at the same time.

SPEAKER_01

I know, right? They're going also to see twice at VTS. We're like, what? This is so awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, definitely cool.

SPEAKER_01

So it's cool. We'll vibe the same. It's like our crowd vibing the same, going to almost the same show. That's awesome. Yeah, that was our Saturday night K-pop event. Yay! Yes, how so much fun, so much fun.

SPEAKER_00

I'm I am, I'm looking forward to see what else they do. What other new things they bring? So awesome. Yes, and a woman run business. Oh, that is correct.

SPEAKER_01

Female around business, yeah, yeah, yeah. Supporting our local female run business.

SPEAKER_00

We're recording this in March, so we're still on that kick. Yes.

Winter Prep And Car Survival Kit

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes. Oh, yes. We're recording on March 21st. Happy spring! Yeah, even those cola sacks. I know, and they're talking about snow on Monday. I don't know. Uh-huh. You know, I had to buy a new broom for my car, snow removal broom, because the one I had was just, you know, was destroyed. And it took me a while to get a snow broom because everybody ran out. I'm like, oh my god. So I had to like special order it. That's crazy. And that took, and then they say it was like, oh yeah, it's out of stock, but we'll uh we'll send it when we get it back. I'm like, what are you kidding me?

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's amazing how many people are not prepared for winter in general, but then we had the really big snowstorm. So you know everybody ran out and bought all the stock there was. Because even at work, I when I left the day that or the day before the storm really hit, we've had a couple, so it's anyways, that's beside the point. I was outside, it had been snowing a couple hours, and I'm sweeping my car off. And the person next to me from my office has a plastic bag on their arm and are swiping their car.

SPEAKER_01

I seen that, and I'm like, what? What are you doing?

SPEAKER_00

Dude, do you want to borrow my brush? It's a little more effective. He was like, Oh, thank you. Wow. So that's what I mean. People in general don't have anything for winter weather up here anyway.

SPEAKER_01

I know, right? It's like you had you need to have the, you know, the the broom with also the scraper. And the squeegee to get the yes, you need like the triple threat scraper.

SPEAKER_00

Broom.

SPEAKER_01

I bought this this one that is. I'm like, I can't wait for a snow because it's really nice. It has a large broom, it has this like like a foamy scraper. Oh so also, but also has the heart scraper. So I was like, yay, this is oh my god, and the the head pivots. Yeah, I've got one. That's what I'm like, yeah. And then the handle has this like foamy warming thing, so it does it's not cold for the hot touch. I'm like, oh love, and mine extends, yeah. Clean the roof off. Mine too, because I have an SUV, you know? Yeah, and you have to clean the top off. So yeah, you have to. You have to. And I can't wait to use the colour. High tech snow gear here. Right? Mm-hmm. You know, I also have a blanket in my car. I have a towel just in case. Yeah, come on, be prepared. It's anything happens. You know that happened to me that I had to use. What was it? Uh, it was on my old car. I was caught with a flat tire, and I drove the car like that to the tire repair place, but it was there, nobody that was there, so that the lobby wasn't open. I thank God I had my fleece blanket and I wrapped my because it was winter, I wrapped myself in it, waiting for somebody to open to be there. And the mechanic, like, kind of saw, like, is there somebody in there? And then I was like, Oh yay! And I'm like, oh my god, let me in. I'll be waiting. I have a flat tar. He's like, I see the flat tar. You've been in the car for how long? And I'm like, I got here as soon as I could because it was going flat to the ground. So yeah, no, the guy was very nice. It's like, I'm making coffee now. No, really sweet guy. Uh that happened in Amherst. Of course, right?

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

So, you know, so but that you know, you gotta you don't know when you need to need to have a blanket. Thank God I had that blanket there, or I would have been freezing. I mean, it was cold, but you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've always had a blanket in my car.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And a towel. You don't know when you're gonna need it, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Plus, I have one of those foil like emergency thermal things. I got one of those too in my glove compartment.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, cool. I don't have that. I just have a big Hello Kitty thing. Hello Kitty. Nobody's gonna say Hello Kitty help, you know. But uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. How did we get to that conversation? Because uh we were talking about it.

SPEAKER_00

And then it just was don't mind the pun here. It snowballed.

BTS Netflix Comeback Reactions

SPEAKER_01

We were talking about K-pop miniverse and the event, and all the time we're talking about bad weather. And me stuck with a flat tire. What it's a rants and ramblings, these things happen. I know you you get to experience a little bit of snippets of our personal life and why happened to us. Anyways, but also, like I was saying, March 21st. What did we saw at 7 a.m.? The BTS come back on Netflix. My God. Yeah, wow. It was like uh exactly, I was so excited. I woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning. I was just like, you know, I share this reel with you. There was this lady trying to get up every every morning. Be it you wake up like you're dragging out of bed. But when it comes to like BTS the advance, you like jumping up and down before the alarm goes off, and you're like, yeah. So that was me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, I I woke up before my alarm too. I was like, okay, oh, oh, did I miss it?

SPEAKER_01

Girl, I was so nervous that I was gonna miss it. Like I said, I was up at four, just did my thing, got my coffee, just chill out, did my thing for the radio show, and just like just excited, and just like so excited. And I know family was gonna join in. I'm like, I'm not gonna wake up anybody. I'm just gonna be ready with my army bomb. Me, myself, and I. Exactly. And then lights off because it's a concert, you know. I don't want any light to you know, intrude in the whole, you know. I just want to just concentrate on the guys. Oh my god, it was so awesome.

SPEAKER_00

It was, it was amazing. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Like just seeing all the the work put into doing this yeah, one one hour show hour show, which means we're like, no, we want more, but OMG, but oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

The everything they played a lot of the new music, which was so cool. Yes, those costumes.

SPEAKER_01

I would not mind that we just played the whole album.

SPEAKER_00

Album. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I was hoping that was gonna be the whole album.

SPEAKER_00

They did I thought I thought that because of the time limit they were giving themselves that that is what they were gonna do. Right. But they had to throw in a couple of, you know. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They got Mike Drop other Cosmos, they put Mic Drop, hello, you know. I'm surprised that it, you know, because it was a spring date that they didn't sing spring date. Well, you know, hey. Because it's kind of like a classic BTS, but they didn't like end it with that, which it's okay. Which I'm like, that's alright. I was just hoping for it, but that's alright. I mean, they didn't have to. Well, clean butter, too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and dynamite, and but of the new song, Faya Hooligan, Aliens. I'm going out. They they sort of did them in order almost. They skipped around with a couple of them. They switched up order. Yes. Normal. I really like that one. 2.0. I mean, it was but it was just incredible. They poor RM sitting on his stool. He hurt his ankle.

SPEAKER_01

He did his best with the arm movements. He was doing the it was so funny during the mic drop. Choreo, he was like you knew he wanted to be over there. I know, but he did great. I was doing my version too, sitting down. I'm like, hey, hey, up and down. Oh, yes. That's probably a dance that you can do sitting down with no problem. Because you know exactly what you're doing. You say, bring out the hand down, open your arm, you know. Oh, yeah. That's so cool. He did amazing. I love my boot.

SPEAKER_00

They all did amazing. I know, but you know, I considering he was injured, yes.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. You know, I just, you know, when I saw on his reels that boot on his left left uh uh um foot, I'm like, oh no, what happened? What happened? I'm like, OMG. I like repost it and put OMG like oh my god, what happened? And I'm like, oh my god, is he gonna be out for the whole thing?

SPEAKER_00

But no, it was just a couple of weeks of rest and you know he'll be back on his feet ready to start touring, because geez, they start soon, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, month?

SPEAKER_00

Not even. What's it starting April? Yeah, yeah, it's less than a month. Whoa, yeah, dang. I've like I've totally lost track of time. Yeah, it starts April 6th. Does it start the 6th?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

I know it's on April. Definitely the 11th, the 18th, you know. But yeah, it's starting soon.

SPEAKER_01

With that being said, we are going to see the ones in the cinemas, which is the one in Japan and also in Korea. So we'll see how is that how he's going to perform on those shows. Oh, yeah, that's true. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

I wonder if he'll still have to wear that thing. Take it to the city. Or just take it easy, you know. Yeah. But this is he's now the the fifth one who's had to sit out a concert. I know. So we've been watching every every tour, someone new has to sit out on a a stool and take it easy. Yeah. That's how hard they work. Yep. And then of course, just accidents do happen. Exactly. But wow. So we'll see when we go to the movie theater and see that. Yeah. But the good thing also about doing those movie theater things, kind of get an idea of like how the sets and costumes are gonna work. Although from April to August, the costumes could change drastically. We were saying how we both loved the costumes from this comeback show so much, but they would be totally impractical in summer.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_00

All those long sleeve layers and leather. Forget it.

SPEAKER_01

Already sweating just by just stepping out on the stage. Because you know how humid it gets in like over here.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

Army Bomb Shortage And Merch Stress

SPEAKER_01

And this this this Gillette Stadium, it's not air condition. No, it's out so everybody's gonna be right. Everybody's gonna be right. You know, because army's gonna be out there waiting online to get merch. And if you're like me that cannot get an army bomb, not even at our Target store, might as well just say the name because Target is being a shit show with that. Well, everywhere. Oh my god. Weavers is on all the shit.

SPEAKER_00

I told you, I like You got lucky. I lucked out, yes. You were able to get it, but it was still it was traumatic because it was it was like you need to enter your mailing information. I'm like, it's in there. What the hell are you talking about? And then they're like, your payment information doesn't share your billing address. I'm like, yes, it does. And then it was like page unknown. I'm like, no, go back. I finally I told you it was like only a six minute window of time that it took me to do it, but it felt like hours of going back and forth with the no, my stuff's in there. But I did finally get one, but they limited you to just getting one.

SPEAKER_01

That sucked. So many other things. Hey, can you can you get me? You know, you're like, well, I can only do one.

SPEAKER_00

And then well, because I got us the special edition ones a while back, and you could order up to three of those, but with this particular the new version for they were like one per person.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because they didn't give enough time to people because they're like new version, oh by the way, is gonna stop working at this time. You're the one the old ones are gonna stop working, only this one's gonna work. I'm like, what? What? So everybody's frantically want to get that army bomb to be part of the group and you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but you're you're gonna be part of it whether you have the new army bomb or not. It's just you want the new army bomb. Yes, I know. I was right there fighting for my life on Wheels together. Girl, girl. Just it's just not fair. It's not fair. And even some of the like second third party sites, like Target, and there's a couple of the you know, K-pop selling sites. They're like, get your army bomb, but then you go look and it's not they're like sold out.

SPEAKER_01

It's like how many did you get? There's some people I don't know, people are saying, Oh no, they only got 50. And I'm like, 50? I just give them 50. That's that's not enough.

SPEAKER_00

What, like at Target?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, oh wow, there's like very limited. And I'm like, are you freaking kidding me?

unknown

How could you give that?

SPEAKER_00

That's crazy. Well, I was seeing like on Instagram and stuff, people posting little reels or whatever of like the lines at Target stores to get BTS stuff. And so like they go in, all the shelves are empty. They're like, I didn't get a damn thing. I'm like, ooh, wow, that got picked through. I wonder if they had a like you can only buy one army bomb. I wonder if they had a limit like that.

SPEAKER_01

It should have. I mean, if somebody out there got two, that's not fair. Yeah, that just would not be fair. Oh, one for me, one to sell, because you know that's gonna happen. Or maybe the people who are like not really army and they're just buying it to sell. Because that's another one, too. The people who were just, oh, we just gotta get on this bandwagon to make some money.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we know we know this stuff sells, so we'll pick it up and do it online.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Okay, so that's my drama right now. I want an army bomb.

SPEAKER_00

I want an army bomb, I want an army bomb. Well, I'll keep an eye out because maybe weavers will restock somehow. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

There's either people out in Korea that can't even get it. I know. I know about I know of a man who wants one because they they want to go to BTS and it's like, I can't even get it, and I'm on Weavers. I'm like, I'm in Korea. I'm like, oh man, that's that's yeah, that's hard. I feel for you, you and the same boat as I am. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, like I said, I'll keep an eye out. And if they restock and start selling them again, I can do that. But they've also been selling some of the merch pre-advanced.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, no, I'm gonna I'm gonna wait till I'm at the show. I want to get it at the show. I don't know why. I just feel that's like the more real way to do it. The army bomb, I was like, no, I'll get that. But the merch. The merch. I sort of want to see it and feel it. Right, you know. Girl, that's gonna be insane. I know. I th oh I may regret that choice, but it's also every time they're on like their fifth round of posting stuff. It like went on sale, everything was gone in minutes, minutes, because I was like, oh, what's this? And I just wanted to look at see the close-up image of everything, and they're like sold out. I'm like, oh my god, how did that even happen? So I keep getting notifications. Third round of pre-sale, you know, it's like stuff is just going, going, gone.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

But I'm gonna be a purist with the the merch and like buy it on site.

SPEAKER_01

My credit card's gonna ping me and be like, What is this?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we've it actually mine's gotten used to it. They're not suspicious of it anymore. They didn't when I when I got the tickets for the show in Foxboro, they didn't even question it. I'm like, wow. They it's like they know because my spending pattern that's like the card I've been using to buy like little things here and there on Weverse.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, it gave me a suspicious buy-in when I was buying the tickets for the movie theater.

SPEAKER_00

Oh really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh, I bought those two, and then I'm like, let me go back and go for the other uh show.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, mine did for that. Oh, okay. Because they were like, You just bought something and now some it's being bought again. I'm like, yeah, that's me.

SPEAKER_01

I got that. Like, hello. You know?

SPEAKER_00

And it's like I'm like, it's a different time.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you for putting you very much for for your, you know, checking out on me. Thank you. Yeah. So I don't know what's gonna happen when it goes to PS. Oh my god. It's like, uh, we're gonna be sitting waiting. Remember when we're waiting for sugar? Merch. Oh, I know. And we didn't weren't able to get everything.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, and and then them giving the wrong stuff. Ah my god. I hope that doesn't happen. I'm gonna I'm not gonna leave the line after I purchase until I've checked that everything is what I asked for. I mean, I was happy with the accidental sugar shirt too, but I was like, I really wanted this other one. So, you know. And hey, anything was good. Yeah. But I'm gonna definitely for this show.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna double check everything for that line. We gotta check when are they gonna open for the merch.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna be prepared for that line. Yeah. Well, I'm wondering if they'll do like they did for sugar and for gin. We missed out on J Hope, so I don't know if they did it, but um they opened uh, you know, whatever pop up merch stall the day before the shows. So, you know, we could luck out and like be able to go a day early. Yeah. And then that way you don't have to worry about oh, the show starts, they're gonna be letting us in in an hour and I'm still in line. Ah. Yep. You know, we could go and pre-buy it and then be all set. But I don't know. We don't know if this is happening. I know it probably, yeah. Come on.

SPEAKER_01

It probably will.

SPEAKER_00

It probably will. Come on. What they should do is have the merch there and start selling it a week before the show.

SPEAKER_01

This companies need money because you know, BTS has been, you know, not on that aidas of army, of you know, service. So they need money.

SPEAKER_00

Hello. Well, and plus they keep doing these big free shows. They did the big free show before they went off to Army, and now they just did this one, huh? The free shows.

unknown

Look at you.

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, I mean somebody's foot in the bill, it's them. Oh, yeah. So they gotta get their money back from us by selling loads of merch. Exactly. True. Like I said, they need to have the merch available a week before the show actually happens. Exactly. Let us stand out there for a week waiting for the merch.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, people are gonna be camping out there. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

People are going to be camping out there. All right. So uh anything else going on besides our boys from BTS?

SPEAKER_00

Uh well, there are things, but it's sort of stuff that doesn't fit in with the happiness of our stray kids event and then our BTS event.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, there's some things that just they're happening, and we're like, oh no.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that ain't good.

BTS Puzzles And Scavenger Hunts

SPEAKER_01

That's just like, oh, that's unfortunate, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we you know, we could talk about the trauma of trying to solve all those BTS puzzles on Instagram and stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

How to get the special message.

SPEAKER_01

So Sarah got the puzzles quickly. I'm like, oh my god, you got it already. So I'm like, let me wait for her because I was like almost almost there, or like, what am I missing? What is that? What am I not doing? But now I got it. So thank you, Sarah. You're welcome. But that was fun because you gotta find these Easter eggs before April 3rd, but I wanted it now because I'm like that kind of person. I want it now. I want to finish it now. Just like work. I gotta finish this now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, exactly. Well, that's how I was like, because they had another thing, um, a scavenger hunt through Google, like I think only Google Mobile. Oh, really? But um, if you typed in BTS, this little ship in a bottle came floating up and you click on it, and then there's these questions you answer and you get a reward, a surprise.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Now I gotta go check it out. And uh, I thought I told you about it.

SPEAKER_01

Did you?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I th I thought I mentioned it, but I didn't realize that it was in fact like only really worked on the mobile app. So I I was like boom, boom, boom, I got through that. And then they're like, All right, the next round of treasure hunting won't start until you know March 16th. And I'm like, what?

SPEAKER_01

No, I w come on, I want to get all this now.

SPEAKER_00

So like you had to wait, and then the other ones were available recently. Okay, so I finished off that too.

SPEAKER_01

But oh cool.

SPEAKER_00

That's how I am with things like that. Like anything that's a puzzle or a game. Yeah, I'm like, I need to figure this out. So I'm like on Instagram going, Well, I told you I missed the first message about you started the things. Yeah, so I saw someone else mentioning it, and I'm like, well, wait, I did that. I didn't get that message, so I did something else, and it was like, Oh, you're on your way. I'm like, you hid that from damn you! Now I gotta solve it. So I did it all like boom in an hour. It's like, okay, link my Spotify, pick my song, boom, boom, boom. Yep. And I'm like, wait, what what where's this? Mmm, you know, oh my god. We have fun. It was cool. It was fun. Well, it's because we're like crazy, like not, you know, we just get so excited about stuff like this and right participating in things. This is like being part of a group activity, yeah. Even though you're not facing any of the other participants, you're like, ooh, I'm I'm running against time and other people, like, oh, because you know, yeah. I told you I was all excited. I was number 288,764 to solve this.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, I could have been in that range with you, but then I got stuck at some point. So I'm like, what am I missing? What am I missing? So I I was in the 900th, you know.

SPEAKER_00

But you know, if you're under a million, you're good. Okay, I'm good. I'm good. But I'm very, I'm very competitive. That's why this I was like, oh, I gotta solve this.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I know, I get like that too.

SPEAKER_00

Even though, like I said, I'm not seeing anyone else, and it's just like competitive with myself. I'm like, you can do this. I I do that like with Sudoku puzzles and stuff. I'm like, all right, I'm gonna give myself four minutes to solve this, and I'll time myself. Like, I set limits for myself. You can do it, you can do it. It's a level five, but you can do it. Hey, yes, uh, you can do it. So, yes, I compete against myself all the time with things. Do you do that? Like set little limits on things you're like, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you know, I have like little games in here that have like, and you have to do this in like three minutes, and I'm like, and I'm like, dang you, and has like little bombs or something, and I'm like, ah, you know, like yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, sometimes I even do it with chores around the house. I'm like, okay, I'm gonna start this song and I have to have the dishes done before the end of the song, or I have to do another chore.

SPEAKER_01

See, that's different. No, I um I gotta do all the chores. If I have to do all the chores, I just take my time with the chores. Uh I I I take I'm different with that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm not saying that I leave dishes dirty. I'm just like, you know, if there's three cups, I should be able to wash them by the time this song is over. And if I can't, you know, if more dishes pop up, then I have to do another chore right away instead of taking a break. Just like weird little things like that with myself. I'm like, you have this one song to finish this form at work, and if you don't, you're gonna have to do five more forms, you know, things like that. Oh, yeah. Well, because some days I'm not motivated at work. Oh I'm like, I don't want to fill out these forms. So I have to sort of make myself because the form filling is like the worst part of what I do. But I have to create a form for each action that I'm doing.

SPEAKER_01

Me at work, if as soon as a task comes in, okay, let's do this, let's do this. Quick one, let's do it. So you have time to like do nothing.

SPEAKER_00

You know? Well, the thing is because these forms are technically not forms I am supposed to be doing.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Typical of that job. Well, uh company, let's say.

SPEAKER_00

Well, because you know, it was determined that everybody else had too much else to do. So they could just send me the information and I could fill out the form. Oh. And it was sort of my own fault because I allowed it to happen with a couple of people a few times because I was like, I wasn't as busy at that particular time point in time. And I was like, oh, well, just send me the info and I'll fill in the form and and do it, you know, file it up. Because I have to I have to input the data that they're telling me about on the form. You get what I'm saying? So I was like, well, you know, whatever. It's not hugely time consuming, but it's if I get them from 15 different people, I gotta fill out the form in 15 different names. Because I have to identify who told me to do this.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So that's you know, all of a sudden it turned into oh, so-and-so said I could just send you this and you could I was like, Oh no.

SPEAKER_01

Well, um, yeah, I I would have been like, Yes, yeah, I only helped that person at that time, but I'm not supposed to do this. Girl, you better set out boundaries. I had I had I did this with I'm like, this new job, I'm gonna be setting out boundaries. I'm sorry. And you know what? It's doing very well for me.

SPEAKER_00

Well, once we transfer to the new system, I won't need to worry about it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but when's that gonna happen?

SPEAKER_00

Um, supposedly in June. So it's not too much longer.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And it's the the problem with it is it like comes in waves because everybody has deadlines.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So suddenly they're all like, oh darn, it's the 25th, and I only have until the 28th to get this done. I don't have time, so then I get flooded with like lists of things. I'm like, oh come on.

SPEAKER_01

But of course, I'm sure there's some people that just is like, eh, yeah, it's we're gonna do this. Oh, yeah, there's always terrible doing. Um, I just suggest somebody like send an email. Hey, I know there's some things do that you guys need to do, so you have this much time. Oh, by the way, I have these tasks that I need to do by this time, blah blah blah. Um, I may not be able to help you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, fill out your own form and send it to me.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

Because I need the form to do my part of the work, you know what I mean? Well, I don't need it, but I have to have the form to give to the filing department, you know, the scan it in and file it. So oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Like, I'm so glad I'm not there because if my company, they're so into just PDFs and the oh my god, I love it so much. I'm like, I don't have to deal with paperwork. Ah, it's all PDFs.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think you know, if they I don't have access to the right filing system, because otherwise I could type up the form myself and just put it into that particular part of the database, but that's not what's connected to my database. Like the files are all their own big take up loads of space spot. So I can't directly link my form into the files.

SPEAKER_01

In other words, they just don't really have an IT department to help you guys out to do a co-connection and the networking.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Oh, so that's why with the new system, they like these forms are gonna be built into it, so you just fill it out and save it, and there it is. You know what I mean? Yeah, so I only have you know, another couple months, whatever I can do.

Office Tech Rants And Small Wins

SPEAKER_01

Jeez. No, I I I I just love I mean, what we do again. It was I know we transitioned now to Microsoft, which you know do love the Google Office. Google office is amazing. Microsoft 365, it just hurt me. Crapola. Um no kidding. But you know, it's okay, I'm not gonna say much, but you know, some higher-ups that are not in my company, somewhere in the states, like you're gonna use it. And I'm like, yeah. And in my opinion, that's why things are not well done in the state.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Anyway, that's because of all the the contracts and the subcontracts and the way you have to do everything. Yeah, no, that's pain. Pain in the patootie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's just more waste of time so people cannot get the right help. Yep. And everything is delayed and delayed and delayed.

SPEAKER_00

And we just went off on another whole Oh my god. That's why we always hanging out with your besties in the coffee shop.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you, everybody, complaining about life. And some personal, then we get some music, and now we're ended up with personal. I'm sure anybody who works in an office setting has probably the same or equal and similar situations as us. So please share.

SPEAKER_00

But at least I incorporate music into mine. That's where how we got there is I use music to get my work done.

SPEAKER_01

That's true. I also have music in my little cob cubicle, so I can I cannot play it too loud. And unfortunately, I cannot wear headphones because I need to pay attention to what's around me and phone calls, but I at least I have a little bit of music um in my cubicle where I can listen to it and just like I have my little tiny tan speaker. I can't I use that to play. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I have my own office, so yeah, I can do that. Lucky which it was also my office. Well, it was somebody else's office before it was.

SPEAKER_01

It was always somebody else's office. Then it was my office, and then it was given to Sierra.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I was a supervisor sharing an office with three of my underlings. Underlings, all damn.

SPEAKER_01

My minions now. I thought you were there because you needed to keep an eye on those underlings.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I don't know that well, that could be. Yeah. A couple of them did need a needed an eye keeping. But they eventually were like, you know, well, it was COVID and all of that, so they were already sending people off to work remote, and then those of us in the office, they were trying to divide up as best they could. And they were like, you know what, your supervisor, anyways, you should have your own office. So I moved. It's the smallest office in the whole place.

Mary And The Lamb Outtake

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Until next time. Bye bye. Because it's been a while since we talked about Mary and her lamb.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we've been neglecting Mary and the lamb. And the lamb.

SPEAKER_01

The little lamb. I got the headphones on, and I'm like thinking, I cannot hear anything. I'm like, oh no, I'm not supposed to be hooked on that.

SPEAKER_00

I know. Yeah, no, me too.

SPEAKER_01

So now I'm like, wait, these headphones are not. I can't hear anything. I can't hear you.
